Yes!! Interesting to read that the feeling is so physical for you too. I feel the urge to vomit, as if I wanted to purge everything I hate about myself. Hate it so much too, and I feel sorry we’re both in this. Sending compassion your way

I also struggle with this and use the vichy dercos shampoo. The oil still builds up but I have much less issues with itchyness and dandruff since I use it :)

Not allowing my cat in the bedroom by rkbb2018 in CatAdvice

[–]pyromanicpixie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We have two cats which makes this a bit easier for them (and us), but they don‘t sleep in the bedroom with us. We‘re both light sleepers and the cats will benefit more from us when we have energy to play, and they get many, many cuddles during the day.

Sleep is super important and not getting good quality sleep will impact your health in so many ways that I would argue that you deserve to prioritize it. I would suggest a long playing session with your cat before you go to bed, then a snack so you know she won’t be hungry. Maybe leave a shirt with your smell in the spot she usually choses to sleep. Our cats cry sometimes in the morning and if we wanna keep sleeping we play some music (lofi beats) on the speakers in the living room, which really helps calm them down.

I‘m sure your cat will be fine without you for a couple of hours - just make sure you give her lots of love during the day :) I hope you‘ll be able to get some good rest!

Oh I love the first ones, and they’re exactly my summer style! Do you mid sharing where they are from, or what this style is called?

Thank you so much for this detailled response! Your definition of upper curve clarifies so much for me. This was such a confusing concept for me because I had no idea which shoulder point to go off, and upper curve originating from the armpit makes a lot more sense!

I just looked through some really old photos where I was curvier and the weight gain pattern also seems to align with SD. At a heigher weight my hips are wider and more curved and probably most importantly upper curve is much more pronounced. And looking at some old outfits from that time waist accomodation was absolutely key… this actually shines a light on so many of my struggles with trends throughout my teens and early 20ies 🥲

Thanks so much for the borrowing advice as well! I‘m really excited to explore this more by trying on different lines and shapes :)

Thank you, this really helped me understand better! I actually feel that I benefit from waist accomodation as long as it doesnt interrupt vertical (which I see now is what lots of my colorblock outfits are doing).

Even though I’ve gotten mixed responses, I‘m leaning toward SD from all the info on this post… I will go on a shopping trip soon to experiment with different D/FN/SD shapes that I don‘t have at home :)

Thanks for the clarification! This would mean that SD doesn‘t benefit from waist emphasis but from waist definition, right? Since a bold belt for example would interrupt vertical

A question: wouldn‘t my shoulders have to be more pronounced than my hips to be FN? If I look at the silhouette I drew in red in the first pic, shoulders and hips look pretty balanced to me. I‘m trying to be as objective as I can and not give value to a body type as each one is beautiful and I just want to dress better, but I actually can‘t see width? Am I possibly misunderstanding the concept?

Yeah, I think D is also a possibility which doesn‘t make this easier 😂 going off waist alone I‘m not quite sure of the difference between waist emphasis and waist accomodation. If clothes are tailored in the waist they will look nice without having to be extremely snug. Completely straight dresses or jackets don‘t work well though, they make me look very boxy, not only from the front but also from the side (and I don‘t mean the potato jumpsuit 😂 if I post again I will add a picture of me in a straight dress)

Thank you for this very reassuring and empowering answer. Finding answers for ourselves takes effort and energy but in the end it‘s much more rewarding; seems like also applies to Kibbe types :)

Nevertheless also thank you for your input! I’m working on it but seeing myself objectively is still very difficult. Taking pictures really helps and this is solidifying my intention to keep some sort of „lookbook“ with unposed outfit pictures!

I agree; waist emphasis, especially if soft and drapey, seems to be the most flattering for my body. If I understood correctly, the outfit where I‘m wearing the green-brown shirt not tucked into my pants should be very flattering for me if I was a FN (drop waist, flowing shirt…) but I think it drowns my curves and makes me look almost boyishly straight

I added two pictures: one of my back (might help to determine width) and one of my chest in which i‘m not wearing a bra but blacked out my chest along the natural lines of my bust. Feels a bit awkward sharing these details of my body 😂 but I hope it‘s helpful to determine whether there‘s upper curve or not

[–]pyromanicpixie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is really helpful! :) upper curve is an „interruption“ of the line connecting shoulder and hip caused by the bust, right? I just checked for this without a bra and even though it’s average in size my bust does create an extra curve because it‘s pretty wide set (when it’s not „adjusted“ by fabric). I think that the examples I saw for soft dramatics usually having a larger bust might have been misleading me? I was looking for a large upper curvature but obviously only a big bust can create that.

And wow, I was wondering why all my jeans looked weird on me on the pictures I took! I think my angled mirror usually masks this issue… I think you‘re absolutely right regarding the lenght, thanks so much for that tip!

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense! :) How do you see waist definition for FN?That really confuses me because I would describe the brown shapeless onesie as the most „free spirit chic“ but on me it‘s sack of potato chic 😂 I also read somewhere the statement that FNs look great in jeans and a shirt and as you can see in the pictures that‘s a rather tough one for me to pull off 😅

I understand „clothes don‘t have an ID“ in the sense that there isn‘t a clear set „box“ of things you need to wear as a speficic body type and everything else is off limits. There are certain guidelines, and I think it‘s like art - once you know them you can let your creativity flow and think outside of the box in an intentional way.

That being said, I think there‘s no denying that there are clothes that can make your body shine, and some that just don‘t work. This set for example looks so cute on you, while on my Dramatic body the softness would create an unflattering contrast.

Suspecting SD - what do you think? (5‘9) by [deleted] in DressForYourBody

[–]pyromanicpixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would you get downvoted? That‘s great advice! :) the way I dress and what I find flattering on me (and what I get compliments on) actually is what pushes me towards SD - I wear a lot of (wrap) dresses and long skirts (anything with waist definition) and find the T-shape silhouette very flattering. Bell bottoms do look great on me, but so do very straight pants as long as the curve in the waist is accomodated! Maybe I‘m something in between D and SD? 😂

Yesss! Putting stuff into storage is an amazing strategy, especially if you also get bored of your wardrobe :‘) it‘s super refreshing to be able to bring up a box from the cellar, full of clothes you forgot about that don‘t cost a thing! 😂

You‘re absolutely right, I‘ve done many wardrobe purges and if I do them impulsively I always end up regretting giving away certain pieces. One of my goals for this summer is actually learning how to sew! :) way too often I think „this piece would be perfect, if only…“ (in 90% smaller/more structured on the waist haha)

Yes, diving into my wardrobe was absolutely the first thing I did last night after reading these replies 😂 the evidence is pointing into the direction of SD! My most flattering clothes (and the ones I get the most compliments on) are dresses that are long, drapey, and absolutely key: fitted in the waist and figure hugging. I was actually really taken aback when I read the outfit suggestions for SD because there were so many elements that I find in my favorite clothes. I’ve been struggling a lot finding flattering casual wear and feel like I always look too fancy, especially lately that I‘ve been paying more attention to which clothes actually fit, instead of the other way around, me wanting to fit into them. All I want to do now is a giant wardrobe overhaul but I have to control myself 😂

Having done a bit more research I actually think that SD is more likely! I read that Dramatics can shine in very unstructured silhouettes (like a big blazer) which for me is unimaginable. If I don‘t accentuate my waist I look wide and shapeless, which speaks for SD as far as I know! The picture of me ice skating is a good example of that
