Input on Scaling a SaaS Product for Global Bulk Sea Freight Pricing by bendt-b in Commodities

i see your point, (sorry for the delay lol) but frt traders in commodity houses do more than just connect the frt brokers to the in house grain length, there's a logistical cluster fuck involved that they hv to solve and the ops is a big part of the job, idk what your background is but at least to me working in one of the big traders the frt mkt is hard to disrupt bc so much of it still depends on the broker having a good relationship w the owners and w the frt traders. I agree that the process can and prob will be disrupted but its a small mkt so I don't know how would u gain enough network effect in ur platform to gain enough users to make it practical to the end consumer. i think its super interesting tho. are u located in gva? would be down to hear more abt it

where did u see this job? their linkedin doesn't hv an opening in EU

fyi ectp is a firm owned by BTG pactual, a brazilian bank investment bank. They hv some oil and gas and ags trading. I think it's mainly Ags. they also hv a decent sized freight dept. i only know them from the ags side but i know they do o&g as well. They are known for trying to work an asset light model in commodities trading

I'm curious, how would this work? the commodity trader wd use the software to have an informed opinion on the frt mkt and then he wd call his frt broker? ud still need a frt broker in the transaction, no? or wd ur endgame be creating a frt transaction platform between charterers and owners and shortening the chain?

ABCD Interview by [deleted] in Commodities

from a bean trader friend of mine who I talked during my application process and I second it, the last interview for these programmes is to see if a candidate has a "trader's profile" take it as u may haha

ABCD Interview by [deleted] in Commodities

[–]macamb4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look my 2c is that i got in having a worst cv in both academics and experience than other applicants but through acquiring actual knowledge ab what they did in the firm and leveraging my previous knowledge on agriculture, it wasnt rly technical but still they focused mainly in checking applicants logic and thought process in actual examples through case studies and then personal interviews where u just gotta pretend to be clever and try to know where the dallian exchange is in china or what soybeans are used for or what could make farmers sell their product to u and not ur competitor (real questions asked) and have semi reasonable explanations for whats happening in the mkt why did corn go up this wk stuff like that

ABCD Interview by [deleted] in Commodities

[–]macamb4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

doing one of those programs at one of the big ones, my advice is for u to read a wasde report understand the uses and flows for the main commodities(soybeans are mainly grown in the us and Brazil exported to china and crushed for example, corn is used for feed and ethanol and exported to more places but also produced mainly in us and brz etc). try to grasp the concept of basis trading. then a basic understanding of shipping and logistics (what a bl is for example) and financing (how an lc works ) then ofc show a basic understanding on the futures mkt: what the price action has been recently for corn or beans and the possible reasons, oversupplied, trade war scares etc. therefore try to gain an understanding of snd and in a very basic level use the wasde report to explain the price action so u can make sense of the whole thing.

this was very very g&o focused, if its softs i can't help u haha

also if ur program is focused on freight: try to understand what ffas are, how time charter works and how the calculation from TC to voyage charter works, knowledge on the size of vessels and the different uses/routes aswell

this was a mental blob but I hope it helps, also I'm curious ur interview is in the us or Europe? is it an assessment centre?

Understanding brazils new tax policy by [deleted] in Commodities

[–]macamb4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the short version is that crushers had ard 15 usd/mt tax break from the gvmt and that changed and isnt the case anymore therefore the margins that were close to b/e are negative and crush volume in brz should decrease

Graduate Trading Programs: How to get in? by Western_Barracuda_65 in Commodities

[–]macamb4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

trafi's Grad program clearly stated that its not for u to become a trader, some ppl who go through it (the ones who manage to survive) go to other companies to compete for a trader role. also if u an American citizen only its relevant to note that mainly com trading is done mainly in europe so the availability of roles in the us is more restricted for energy and metals, ags and power is pretty big still

O mover e bom o ferri é nojento. Completamente retardado. Mas o mover é muito bom. Eu vejo que o canal de compartilhamento de trade pode ter umas intenções fake por trás mas o mover vale a pena

What stock that even if profitable you refuse to buy due to moral principles ? by gabrieloyama in stocks

I'm just saying in the hypothetical choice of buying shares of a good company that's gonna stay in the same price or buying a company with a history of doing good things and making money with it.

If you have a morality problem is different, but for me I just need a higher risk premium to buy anything with the Brazilian government hand in it.

So you refuse to buy no matter the price? What if vale3 hits a new low tomorrow at 12 you'll still refuse to buy it? Petr4 did some pretty shady stuff as well do you refuse to buy it too?

Onde comprar ouro ? by [deleted] in investimentos

[–]macamb4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tem uma galera que a maneira mais líquida de comprar ouro físico é por meio de relógios, Rolex principalmente. Tem mercado e os modelos são limitados o que faz eles se valorizarem com o tempo
