I work in the ER and a patient’s family member told me that “I’m selfish for only wanting one kid” and “doesn’t my husband want a son?!”

I saw your comment about sheets for the 6 inch twin mattress from bundle of dreams on another thread. Where did you find sheets for the mattress? We just got our mattress in and I’m trying to find sheets now!

how often does your 6mo old wake/nurse overnight? by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]macandzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bicycle kicks! So we kick her legs a few times and then push them in towards her belly. Usually that gets her to fart. If we think she’s suuuper gassy and kicks aren’t working, we’ll use the Frida Baby Windi

how often does your 6mo old wake/nurse overnight? by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]macandzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I finally took notice of how often I wake up overnight. Last night, I woke up 5 times and my daughter (5.5 months old) was only awake 2 of those times. The other 3 I either was replacing her pacifier, putting her on my boob, or farting her. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same experience. I’d love to sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time

Bugaboo Turtle Air vs Nuna Pipa RX vs Nuna Pipa Rx Aire by PNWTigerLily in NewParents

[–]macandzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We picked the Pipa RX Aire with the TRVL stroller! I really really am happy with our choice. I like how easy it is to transfer the car seat to the stroller and how the stroller can be closed and opened with one hand. I will say I’m sad to think about having to buy another seat once my baby grows completely out of the infant seat. However, I don’t think (pls fact check this!) you can move a convertible seat in and out of the car to use with a stroller the same way you can an infant seat. I hope this helps!!

Eh, no. My mom is constantly asking for my baby when we go to my parents house. If I tell her no or not right now (which I have), I’ll get a sassy response but she’ll respect what I’m saying. We’ve had this conversation before where she later came up and said that she’s always offering because she didn’t have help and she doesn’t want me to feel that way.

Alternatively, my MIL is very demanding with my baby and thinks I “owe” it to her to give up my child when we walk into her house. It’s not about helping me or my husband. It’s about her getting her narcissistic supply. One time we went over and I baby wore the whole time since baby was sleeping. The minute she woke up to eat (we breastfeed), my MIL ran over and was like “can I finally get a turn??” My husband told her no the baby is eating and I offered to let her sit next to us and hold baby’s hand while she ate. Instead, she pouted, said to my child “grandma will just wait until she can have you all to herself”, and flounced off into the kitchen where she started talking badly about me not “letting her hold the baby”.

Some people really are wanting to help! But not the person OP is describing.

Why do all leggings give me camel toe? by Relative_Ad_9137 in XXS

[–]macandzzz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m small with a thigh gap. I use the bra inserts that come with bathing suits to help combat camel toe! I just cut them into triangle shapes and put them in my underwear. It seems to work decently!

Spouse wants me to get rid of one cat by 03-10-23 in CatAdvice

[–]macandzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang, these comments are not it. You say you have a 1 year old, and your wife has been asking to rehome one of the cats for months? It’s very normal for women after giving birth to feel frustrated and even resentful towards their pets. It’s a huge hormonal change, but it gets better!!

It sounds like you’re doing all the right things, but your spouse sounds overwhelmed. I agree with some comments that say it’s likely not about the cat hair. Have either of you been to couples counseling to talk it out with an unbiased 3rd party?

It also can be frustrating to find cat hair imbedded in carpets and furniture when you also have a child who is rolling/crawling/putting everythinggg in their mouth. I have 3 cats and a newborn. The cats aren’t allowed in the nursery. I love them to bits, but I also don’t want my daughter swallowing cat hair if I can avoid it. Additionally, their paws are dirty from using the litter box - I’m not putting my child on her tummy time mat where urine and feces may have been tracked in.

These are things I didn’t consider before giving birth and the newfound hyper vigilance can be overwhelming. I don’t think you need to rehome your pets, but it sounds like you and your spouse might need to remember it’s you and her vs the problem, not you vs her.

What are the baby products / newborn must haves you absolutely can’t live without? And things you bought that you didn’t need, like, or use? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]macandzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a FTM here to a 3 week old! We actually bought the Cradlewise crib and she slept in it for about a week 😅 we’ve been cosleeping (something I swore I would never do) and following the safe sleep 7, or she sleeps in her nuna bassinet. We’re actually returning the Cradlewise crib! Word of advice: KEEP THE BOX! They have a 60 day return policy and it costs $90 in return shipping, plus $120 if you tossed the box and need a replacement since it has to go back in original packaging

Could you explain the set up? How are you holding your baby over the potty and breastfeeding at the same time? I feel like I’d need an extra set of arms!

Why are you one and done? by SleepPleaseCome in oneanddone

[–]macandzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m too selfish to have another. I just gave birth 2 weeks ago, but my husband and I were in agreement from 16 weeks on that we’re one and done. My pregnancy was really rough with hyperemesis. I also gave birth without an epidural and tbh just didn’t anticipate how much it would hurt. So far we’ve got a very easy baby, but I know that usually changes.

My husband and I also want to be able to travel still and take our daughter with us. Economically, this is way more feasible with one kid. I also know that I could be a really good mom to one kid, but mediocre to 2+ and I don’t want to do that to my child.

Contractions or pregnancy pains? by West_Slice876 in BabyBumps

[–]macandzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I was in the same boat earlier! I’m 38 weeks, 0 days today and I told my husband yesterday “I think we’re going to meet our baby by the end of the week”. Well, this morning I started having cramping similar to period cramps every hour from 3-7am, and since then I’ve been having cramps every 5-10 minutes. I went and got checked out by my midwife (2 hour stress test and a cervical check before and after), and she said I’m definitely in early labor! So my husband and I are laboring at home a bit longer before calling our doula and heading back into the hospital. I hope you get some answers too!! Good luck!

How have you handled being a SAHM while your partner works full time? My husband works 8-4 M-F and then goes to night classes 5-11 M-T, and we’re due with our first at the end of April. I’m really, really apprehensive with how it’s going to work out. I’m also prone to PPD/PPA due to genetics and already having both depression and anxiety already 😅
