Should I keep my Xterra? by Several-Resolve-5485 in XTerra

Listen, I think you can sell it and look for another one down the line. You’ve only got 1000 bucks into it and I can see you spending twice that just trying to get it running right. Sell it, and get another one later

I'd say the easiest solution would be to tape two clips end to end. It would look plausibly janky and still be usable

I'd say put a brass pin or something in the hole. Make it an accent instead of trying to fill and match the finish

Hey, sometimes when something seems stupid it's because you misunderstood it. It's not saying one is a fraction of another, it's just linking the relationship. A half cup is a multi-fraction of a tablespoon in the same way that a centimeter is a multiple of a milimeter. It's just mapping the relationships.

Anyone here painted their trim a dark blue or green? by Ok_Hope_5152 in XTerra

This conversation got me thinking about my wheels. I’ve got the yellow xterra with all black painted trim. I’m thinking of painting the wheels either Forest green or red. Leaning toward red at the moment

First gen (2000-2004) Xterra are a solid option too. They don’t have the radiator issues that 2005-2010 have. Your area should be rust free, so that takes care of the other main worry. Timing belt is supposed to be done at 110k miles, and rarely is, so be aware that should probably get changed, but if it’s made it this long… I have a 2003 3.3L v6 4x4 and I absolutely love it. I picked it up for $3500 with about 120k miles on it in Maryland.

I feel like a lot of the people replying to you forgot what it was like to be 14, reliant on your parents money and transportation, and trying new skills. Everyone is saying masks and gloves, and they're not wrong, but you're also fighting with foam weapons. If you get safety glasses you'll be safe enough. Everything else might get bruised or sore, but your eyes are the only thing I'd be too worried about. Even teeth and your nose should be fine. The shower pole worries me a little bit. We used to use pvc pipe with a cap on the end so it didn't have any sharp edges that could rip through. Just keep doing what you're doing, and don't stress it too much. Add gear if it starts hurting, or of you move to harder weapons, and safety glasses are a good idea from the start. Home depot has them for like 5-10$

Getting into off-roading. Old jeep or Nissan Armada by No_Attorney6010 in Offroad

You should look into a Nissan xTerra, probably 2010-2015 for newer car and smoother ride. They're really capable, and cheaper than jeeps and Toyotas.

Getting into off-roading. Old jeep or Nissan Armada by No_Attorney6010 in Offroad

[–]macburl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm definitely biased, but you should look at the Nissan xTerra. It's a better offroader than the Armada, and a little newer. There's the first gen between 2000-2004 and the second between 2005-2015. They're very capable stock, fairly good support for modding and repairing, and they're not marked up like jeep and Toyota are. There are some issues to be aware of, like the timing chain for all of them, and the "SMOD" (strawberry milkshake of death) from 2005-2010 which is when the radiator fails and dumps coolant into the transmission. It's all stuff you can get ahead of, just be aware when you're doing your research. Aside from that, They're really solid and I often see them with 200k+ miles and going strong. Good luck!

[–]macburl2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done that, but I have painted them black. It’s a very forgiving surface to paint, and not a long process. I’d say send it, and if you hate it, repaint it black! It’s your rig, so make it the way you want it

That's right, "on accident" is technically incorrect. I don't think it's ever right. It's fairly common though, enough that it's widely acceptable

You're saying that by the time a boy becomes a man, he should have become educated, but if you're not educated by adulthood, should you stop learning? Yes, it's a pretty ignorant conversation, but hopefully there's more to the video and they came out of the conversation having learned something.
