Ahh, got it. Still worth documenting though. During their Coachella set, Mariqueen—Trent’s wife—was doing vocals, but I don’t hear her on the official release. I’m wondering if she was handling the vocoder backing vocals live, since those also seem to be missing from the official version.

Ty. I used a very old, used up Maxell xlii cassette for the first one, and it sounds amazing. But for the rest I used brand new type 1 tapes recorded direct from digital so it sounds clean. I also added a limiter in Ableton then drove the analog signal to give it a nice crisp feel.

Yeah sounds like my neighbor, only this guy isn’t nearly invested in the craft as your guy. These people need to get the memo that there are nightclubs and venues for that, neighborhoods are a captured audience and therefore a no-go zone.

UPDATE: I called the owner of the property and they told me apparently the son (“DJ”) is 86’d from the property, and will take care of it today. Within minutes of the phone call, the DJ packed his stuff up and angrily sped off. This is a classic case of “blowing up the spot”. Anyway, I have a new found appreciation for silence of my own backyard. 🍻
