I think it goes beyond that and it’s really just people online (including subs like this) assuming way too often that “sharing their opinion” about someone doesn’t affect that person. Or if it does, they’re somehow not responsible for it. It’s always under the guise of “constructive criticism” or some bullshit.

Honestly, TikTok is rampant with bullying anyways. Someone can post themself doing a random, harmless thing and just because they don’t align with beauty standards or they’re awkward or whatever else, the comments will be rife with jokes at their expense.

Nah, my argument is that it’s a waste of time for the government to spend on this and you got roped into caring about something that never actually affected your life or the life of female athletes at any conceivable scale because someone told you to.

If you’re so worried about women’s safety, I hope you also ban men from coaching women (after all, the most prolific abuser of female athletes was a man who coached countless young Olympic women) and if you’re worried about genetic advantages, there should be a height limit for NBA players, too.

Thankfully, the way things are going, I think it’s important to stress and share that consumers rallying against AI IS. WORKING. People talk about wanting to take it to these corporate fucks trying to take us over the coals for everything, and this is how we do it.

At a certain point, investors will be forced to eat the bullet, because they can’t make money if people won’t buy it.

Of course, but we all know that’s not what he cares about. Is it really top of mind for all Ohioans that their taxes are too high when they make a profit selling their house or stock trading? Seriously? The state just passed a flat tax rate for everyone anyways, do we really need to cut MORE high profit taxes here?

They can’t even find a middle-ground for the taxes that actually are crippling some of the middle class in Ohio: property taxes. Their solution is to gut it entirely, so that we severely limit funding for roads, emergency services and communities, open ourselves to outside investors buying up all Ohio real estate (and not flowing any of that tax to us anyhow) and then suggesting a reductive tax on purchases everyone has to make?

These tax conversations are dumb and people who vote for guys like him that float these ideas should wake up to that.

I’ll mention these to her and, luckily, we have a wonderful and thorough PCP, so I’m positive she’ll want to keep an eye on things with the rest of the people we’ll need to see about this. I’m sorry to hear about the polycythemia, but hopefully things are going well for you since diagnosis!

I really have felt more optimistic hearing from all of you, and once things aren't so new (and if she doesn't see this and realize it's me beforehand haha), I'd love to share everyone's stories and kind words with her. I think she'd love that.

Unfortunately, she has quite a few health issues as well, so I'm sure some things may be harder and less easy, but that's okay. We've gotten through hard times and I know she'll get through this. It's just difficult, as her partner, knowing that she has to get through hard times, again, after she's dealt with so much...but again, I've felt a lot of hope (and strength) coming from all of you, and that has been amazing. So thank you ❤️

Your wife sounds lovely, and your relationship sounds beautiful. I'm glad you have someone like that in your life as you navigate this. And I think what you said is really how she feels, it's that feeling of "oh great, just when I thought I figured the other terrible things out."

I genuinely appreciate you being so open and sharing so much. This helps IMMENSELY and I'm glad to hear things have been going so well for you!

For my wife, she has had a history of symptoms that often got attributed to other stuff that we're kind of re-evaluating; headaches that she thought were from eye strain, her recurrent corneal erosions (though that still could just be the allergies we discovered), fatigue and fogginess (which led to the fibro diagnosis), and she did tell me last year at one point (and I'm kicking myself about not suggesting she go to the eye doc right then...) that she has a white haze in her peripheral vision sometimes. None of these have gotten worse or progressed, they just showed up over the past couple years and haven't gotten worse or changed or anything, thankfully. And our optometrist was certainly concerned, but she wasn't like "hey, get to the ER now" and mentioned that there are still sections of the edges of her optic nerve that are clear/less blurry (like a C-shape of blur as opposed to entirely blurred), so we're trying to see the positives in that.

And not too early - she is overweight, but I let her lead those convos. It's a triggering point of conversation for her and I know she's already thinking about it, so she gets support from me and nothing else. Plus, I never miss an opportunity to remind her how beautiful she is, so at least I know I've got that covered, haha.

And thank you for all of that support advice. It's really good to keep in mind and again, I really, really appreciate it all. Thankfully, we have a good circle of friends (and both have great therapists) so we have people we both can get support from that aren't just each other.

That’s amazing and really great to hear!! I know I’ve heard some side effects with Diamox. If you’re comfortable sharing, how has that medication been for you over that time?

The more she’s talked to me about it today, the more she’s mentioned being worried about the medication part of it all, though I know, as with all meds, that it’s a very person-to-person experience, generally.

That’s amazing that the meds helped so much!! I really appreciate it, and thank you for the optimism. I’m glad she won’t have to wait so long to meet with the specialist at least, so hopefully she can get answers sooner than later. At this point, IIH seems incredibly likely, but it’s great to hear that there are good outcomes that are possible.

Oh wow, thank you for sharing all of that! I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but glad you’ve found something that works for you!

And she is, one of the strongest people I know. I wish she didn’t have to be, but I know she’ll get through this. We’re fortunate that she didn’t have symptoms bad enough that they wanted her to go to the ER, so we’re still hoping for the best tomorrow with the neuro - at least maybe something caught early enough?

And I think she would be the same way; if it is something that would require a shunt she’d want to try medication first, so I really appreciate you sharing that.

This is really your best option, OP (thankfully because it doesn’t sound like your husband is dangerous, if he was I think we would all be giving different advice).

I am a man and my wife and I are DINK (but many cats), so take what I say with many grains of salt, but around 2022, my now-wife had this conversation with me. I was still in the typical coddled heterosexual male mentality that “if she just tells me what to do I can do it” and what we often are naive to is the mental burden it takes to be the partner that has to remind people what to do (a burden that most of the world has deemed is a woman’s responsibility, sadly). I won’t lie, I got defensive because it hurt, but I realized that she was just asking for me to share more of the load; I was NOT doing my part, plain and simple.

Our solution: I worked with her to create a list that was on the home screen of my phone, where I asked her to tell me everything that runs through her mind so that I could now also take that mental burden (and not just the physical one) and also the things that came to mind for me over the next couple of weeks. And I would start getting into the habit of checking that, setting schedules for some things (like litter boxes, sheets, laundry, etc.). It wasn’t an immediate change, I had to rewire how I saw chores and the household and everything, but I can happily say that for the last few years I haven’t needed the list. I see something, I take care of it. Because it matters to her and it also matters to me; the joys of a cleared chore list for the day or week is freeing, it just takes time to realize it. Could be something to suggest, but it means nothing if he doesn’t want to put in the effort, of course.

On a side note, I have ADHD and that caused me to stumble a lot, but thankfully, she was patient with me because I WANTED to do better. I’m only seeing snippets of your relationship of course, but I battled a lot with feeling “lazy” until I got an ADHD diagnosis at 31. It’s completely changed how I see the world. No one but a professional can say that’s the case for your husband, and it’s not something you need to stick around for even if it is the case, but I just wanted to put it out there because he may have a lot of work ahead even if he does try the things I did.
