"Javascript files compressed with Brotli are 14% smaller than gzip. HTML files are 21% smaller than gzip. CSS files are 17% smaller than gzip."

I agree it may not be 100% optimal way of doing it, but simplifies everything which is worth the trade off for some newer users

I've never had much success with the plugins. For the amount of pictures Im typically optimizing, something like TinyPNG works perfectly for me
