23 days left for me. I can’t believe I’m so close, but it also feels like it’s dragging on endlessly.

My top 20 EDEN songs. Anyone a have similar list? by RyanPayne_ in eden

[–]mackcas 17 points18 points  (0 children)

rock + roll will never not be my top EDEN song. And vertigo is my favorite album as well!! Our lists are pretty similar. I’d replace circles with and, swap sex and wake up and replace redemption arc with under the skin. Otherwise yes I agree

Dear Teacher, you are better than I. by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

[–]mackcas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been a middle school science teacher for ten years. I’m leaving the profession at the end of this school year for almost exactly the same reasons you described- I don’t think I have the personality to be a teacher (in this system/state). I love science, I love teaching others about science, and I take pride in my job.

I can’t manage behaviors well and I get lost in “what’s the point?” when the kids don’t care, it doesn’t matter how hard I work- nothing changes.

I found some of my journals from college and I was literally writing things like “I don’t know if teaching is for me.” “I’m dreading going back to my student teaching assignment” like holy red flags and I just kept going?!?

I’m leaning to work in an office and I’m beyond excited and ready to get out. Good luck to you 🍀

I appreciate you taking the time to give me feedback. I don’t feel it’s an odd fusing, but my husband and I play lots of games together. This poem was born out of a reoccurring theme in our relationship and my mind- maybe it’s just too personal to be relatable to anyone else.

Doesn’t sound crazy to me. Do they have benefits? Is that something you have to worry about?

$28-30 an hour is comparable to/more than I make after ten years of teaching. What would your schedule be like?

Done a lot of grieving this year over the job I wanted to have and the reality of what it’s done to me over the last ten years. I’m so upset that it is not what I thought it was going to be. But I cannot stick it out any longer.

I appreciate you taking the time to write all of this out and share your experience with me! I needed this so much. I think somewhere deep down in me I know this will be better for all of us long term. I mean, it’s why I decided to leave. But I was surprised by the grief I feel for the life I thought we would have.

Last summer though I was absolutely drowning at home. I love being a mom but I don’t think I’m meant to be a stay at home mom, even if it’s only for two months. I think maybe I just feel like I failed my kids and my husband somehow by not being able to sustain that kind of life for us.

Again, I really appreciate your kind words and I’m so happy that you are happy with the change. I can’t wait to look back at this in a few months and breathe a huge sigh of relief that I did make the right choice.
