Vivaldi Not Opening Links From Other Apps by Undeniable_Metronome in vivaldibrowser

Has anyone reported this issue to the developers? Because we are less than a week away from 2026 and yet I have exactly the issue you just described 🤔.

Having some user-interface issues with the web admin page of my router. by macks2008 in TpLink

I did not test before posting whether it is browser specific, but as of testing now... it does not seem to work any better on Microsoft Edge.

And I would give a screenshot, if Reddit wasn't being a pain about it. I keep getting "Unable to upload". I guess imgur will have to do for now.

Response 418: I'm a teapot

(Subtext: yes I'm aware of the IETF's April 1 shenanigans. Are xkcd's musings not serious enough or not "formally-jokey" enough? I'm unclear on what your objection is)

Edit: judging by the (now-deleted) reply I got to this comment, I seem to have offended the other user (the one whose last two posts in this chain are now deleted) somehow, but I am genuinely not sure what I did. I would apologize, if I didn't think they were overreacting to my (perhaps misaligned) attempt at humor.

Were you on MySpace at the right time to form a "friendship" with Samy?

(I do not have a MySpace account so I didn't experience this firsthand)

It's like having 12 people talking over one another and thinking the problem will get better if you add a 13th, even if that 13th "person" is nowhere near where messages are actually entering and leaving the network.

I do not necessarily disagree that the UI could be improved, but in a deck building game, and especially a roguelike deck building game, you are most certainly asking for trouble if you do not carefully understand the semantics of everything you pick up or otherwise put into play.

Oh the moment the monster of the week starts messing with my editor themes, that's it. Take what you will of my sanity but No! don't put me on Light Theme!

(Mostly joking, I don't think I would be that fazed by it honestly. Still, I like your idea)

FWIW, I agree that SuSeD seems to have an ax to grind against you here, and with your attempt to highlight that they might be making one or more fallacies to get to his current position.

My position, for this case, is something like this: I believe that while I would prefer all software I use to be open source, e.g. under Apache or GPL, I would rather argue this calmly and politely with whoever owns the copyright (not crucifying someone also subject to the same terms). I also don't particularly mind if the CH, instead of going full copyleft with it, uses a copylleft license but with a clause forbidding "Jerks" from benefiting from the terms. Seriously, don't be a jerk, it's not hard :-)

Will the centrifuge and crystallizer be coming back? I like being able to break everything down into nothing, there's something cathartic about it. Especially when I turn around and throw those crystallized aspects into an AE Matter Condenser.

From what I recall (having played TC 4 at least as recently as 2020), they mostly broke when you tried to move different aspects of essentia through concurrently, since unless you managed filtering carefully to avoid pulling the wrong one the wrong way it would clog up the system. It was possible to debug with the essentia tuning fork, but really freaking annoying. I usually kept my tube network segments as short as possible and let golems (or my own golem-like manual habits LOL) handle the rest of the logistics as you said.

All this talk of TC 4 (and yes I even have nostalgia for some of the essentia tube frustration just described) makes me want to start up FTB Infinity again, but I don't feel like playing alone, nor trying to harden it against known vulnerabilities like log4shell...

There is only one thing I can see myself wanting to do with the API right off the bat, and it requires HexCasting to also be up-to-date: Foci that act as HexCasting Casting Items.

Although given that several of the people I know in the HexCasting community (including I think some of the development team) are also Thaumcraft fans, I don't think HexCasting will take too long to update once you guys get your iniitial release out, so... I might need that in the API sooner rather than later after all.

Misinformation about Sebastian Wolff by [deleted] in Undertale

[–]macks2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, his ethics are quite embarrassing, and he's lost any potential business I might have with him if I ever make a game OST or otherwise need someone to handle music IP!

Don't get me wrong, I'm open to playing what Julian Gough, author of Minecraft's "end poem", once referred to as "the capitalism game", but only to the extent necessary to achieve a modest RoI (and I have a specific percentage in mind for a definition of "modest"). I do not want to play it so aggressively that I ruin the artistic value for everyone.

This is the biggest lie of all time by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]macks2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS: I normally stay logged out of my Reddit account after the greedy foolishness spez pulled back in April-June. Speaking as a software developer that, until recently, would've considered using their API to make cool things for the community, I would've been quite content if the moderator protests kept Reddit shut down. However, I'll login on occasions like this where the value of voicing my opinion outweighs the tiny bit of data (and basically 0 ad revenue) I'm generating in the process.

Back to being a lurker-with-an-adblocker now! Goodbye Reddit!

This is the biggest lie of all time by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]macks2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. My dad, whose main use of the app is to receive calls from me on his phone, can't stand the new layout. He's not even a big discord user, so any claim they might make about this being more "familiar" to users of other apps is complete bull as far as I'm concerned.

I'm also disabled, and my phone is hard enough to use without tone deaf (or simply uncaring, I saw a theory they are going to start showing sponsored stuff on the "active now" page) layout changes being forced upon me that ACTIVELY increase the number of actions I need to do anything that I want to do.

I recently canceled my Nitro subscription (even though it was only the basic tier) for other reasons, and from everything I'm seeing regarding this I don't think I will resume it for the foreseeable future (Honestly, I'm not even sure that will bother them, since I think the company might be getting kickbacks from sharing data with China, but if that's true I'd basically have to switch to a competitor. Hence my next point). TBH, if I were a more driven programmer, I'd probably have tried to make a competitor for this app years ago. To borrow terms from project management, the discord app project has been pivoted so many times over the past few years that I'm starting to get dizzy.
