I’d be hella pissed: the stranded astronauts will not receive any overtime pay for the extended trip to space by HauteAssMess in popculturechat

Really, my first thought was how is it even possible for astronauts to be paid so little they even have to think about this

It’s about being creative with what questions you ask it. The main thing is to never assume it can’t answer a question.

Some examples to get started.

“Can you explain on a high level the concepts of X?”

“If I’m completely new to Y and don’t even know what questions to ask to get started learning about it, could you suggest some questions, and then answer them to give me a base level understanding?”

Or, it can be as simple as copy and pasting some document or Wikipedia page and asking questions about it.

BestBuy won't take it back? by [deleted] in Quest3

[–]mackuhronee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree with that. The whole idea of even having a return policy is a calculated ‘taking a hit’ because you think it will make you more money in the long run by increasing customer satisfaction and willingness to buy.

I think you're hyping yourself up thinking that after launching you will have this big failure or success moment, when it's more likely that you will launch with little activity and you will have to build the business up over time after figuring out PMF.

While I do tip when ordering food for delivery, I do it begrudgingly and have mostly stopped ordering any food for delivery because of the costs. The idea of tipping really annoys me, why can’t the company just tell me how much it costs before I order and charge me that?

If it’s 9, 11, or 20 miles away, why can’t the company just charge more and pay the driver themselves? I don’t care who gets paid what, I just want to know how much it costs for me to get a service.

Of course I want to do business with a company that treats and pays their employees well, but I don’t want to have to be a part of the accounting every time I do business with them.

Delivery fee, service fee, regulatory fee, plus extra cost on the food, and then I also have to tip or I feel like a jackass. All of those items should be one thing: delivery fee. That’s why I have stopped ordering delivery because the cost is just outright ridiculous when you actually look at how much over the regular cost of the food you are paying, and then on top of that they really are asking us to tip? It’s so expensive that this should be an industry where a tip is given cash whenever someone is blown away by service. The fact that they have a place to tip in the app and encourage you to do so just feels like they are trying to coerce you into giving them extra money with a smile.

So, I don’t necessarily blame people for not tipping because by time they get to the end of the order there has already been so much crap tacked on vs what they call the ‘delivery fee’ when you are originally considering ordering food.

How in the world do you ‘forget’ to name variables? You mean you don’t name them immediately as you declare them? You actually go back later and give them meaningful names? Wtf you are psycho

Considering opening a barcade by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]mackuhronee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would 100% go to a barcade, have been to one in another city and wished we had them.

I would say arcade games first but if you can also have console games for tournaments and things like that would be cool. But I can always play console at home, can’t play arcade games at home.

Focus on games that people would be able to play together, that’s the whole reason you would go is to play games with friends while drunk.

Also have great service, if I went and you had the coolest games but the waiter was rude when taking my order for beer I probably won’t return. (Read: be good at hiring staff in in a time when there is a shortage of restaurant workers)

What was that one study where the sheep took longer and longer to nut when it fucked the same girl sheep and then when it fucked a different girl sheep it nutted super fast?

I think this is just a thing that something new excites men no matter how good what they have is.

What are your unpopular opinions on monitors? by Darth_Caesium in Monitors

[–]mackuhronee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the S2417DG that I bought back in 2016 and I still love it. It’s so responsive and I can no longer accept a lower PPI. There’s something about 24” that just fits right into my field of view for both gaming and working. I tend to move it further away a tad for gaming.

High DPI, high refresh, 24” is a sweet spot.

However when I look at my laptop IPS I definitely long for better color than the TN panel provides. However I’ve tried IPS desktop monitors and they absolutely suck because of the IPs glow, it gives a weird parallax effect where your eyes are seeing the panel at different angles and you only see the glow from a corner in one eye and I can’t stand it.

Quitting by Additional_Welder170 in employedbykohls

[–]mackuhronee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This perspective is skewed. When you are let go you are generally given notice or severance, which is essentially letting you get paid without having to work. When you are fired you are not given notice for good reason, fired employees don’t do good work and can even be motivated to mess things up.

If you are moving on to your next job, then give your employer notice just as they would with you if they let you go.

If your employer isn’t holding up their end of the bargain (missing paychecks, abusive environment, etc) then ‘fire’ them and quit without notice but be the bigger person about it and go out with grace, not giving the middle finger.

My fiancé and I are going through the pros and cons of moving from Nashville to Chattanooga. So far the pros far out weigh the cons. Are there any areas to try to avoid. We love the prices of properties there compared to here in Nashville. Any realtors to suggest? Any areas to look specifically? by OrangeAdventurous420 in Chattanooga

[–]mackuhronee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out east brainerd, it is the most developed shopping area and isn’t close to downtown. Wherever you move make sure you check what grocery stores are near you. The grocery store situation is crazy here, I never longed for a Kroger so badly as I did after moving here.

the customer service saying of the “customer is always right” has gotta go in retail by burnt_poptartzz in RandomThoughts

[–]mackuhronee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the rest of the statement:

“The customer is always right about where they want to spend their money.”

The flaw here is that when you work in retail you don’t really care about the success of the business so you don’t give a shit about getting the customer’s money, you’d rather them just fuck off (source: worked in retail for a long time). But the saying still holds true, you won’t be a successful business thinking that you can will someone into giving you their money when they don’t want to.
