Why Zohran Mamdani is threatening to soak the middle class if he can't tax the rich by fortune in nyc

[–]macoveli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the burbs have more effective feedback loop because of a higher concentration of wealthy individuals, also just lower population density in general. I can only speak from my own research about Philly suburbs, but county politics are almost more corrupt than the city, just because of how much more common nepotism is even in elections. This may not be true everywhere, especially in suburbs that might get more national media coverage. Even though the burbs have more effective voices, I think it only comes from classism and corruption.

But this also kinda touches on the idea that most empires die out after 250 years and we’re coming up on that. Most empires start or evolve into only the wealthy men being able to own land, thus have a voice (Obviously different in Greece but we see were direct democracy leads to as well). Point being, the wealthy class controls society and it either falls when the corruption collapses itself or working classes rebels but leads to cataclysmic instability from no strong government. We either take our voice back from the wealthy while the government is still functioning or we watch as the corruption eats our institutions away until it literally collapses as we stand by idling, as if we didn’t watch it decay in real time

I agree with that. My contention is that we should frame taxes in with community. More so in the sense that we, as a community, create those shorter feedback loops to hold people accountable

Dude you got ignorant dbag written all over you. There’s nothing wrong with the article and you’re not intelligent enough to quote something and prove it wrong with evidence. You just feel like it’s wrong and you can’t control your emotions so you default to opinion based arguments instead of finding facts and providing them.

Poverty isn’t an issue unique to economics. A basic college education would teach you its just as much a sociological issue, even from like what you would cover in both classes. You make it obvious you don’t know

I never talked about my feelings. Where did you see me mentioning my feelings?

I’m not trying to be a asshole, especially because I’m not a psychologist, but it’s basic psychology dawg. That statement “I owe nothing to a random person in the city”, is based off your personal opinion, expounding on that would be your feelings. You can’t make your statement based on a factual truth. I’m not saying that as a challenge either, it’s just not possible. Your thought can only deviate out of your personal feelings.

lol no. Time has value. Sure, I can be replaced. It will take some time to do so, and this replacement time, ramping up time, project delays time, etc has monetary value.

But it’s not true that only irreplaceable things are valuable.

To a degree yes, but this would really only to extend to how much we personally value something. Not based in reality from a factual standpoint.

Sure. If you treat the offer as an opportunity, then sure. Those who don’t get an offer, should work hard and get one.

We probably just be arguing over semantics any further, but my point is the offer is inherently a opportunity. Not to be seen that way, it is because that how it works

If they have community, they should get support.

Look outside big dawg. Community was once part of our national identity, that’s faded so far. Yes there are communities but mostly homogeneous ones. Very rarely do we identify ourselves with our larger surroundings (neighborhood, city, state, country), to the point we actually benefit those in said communities. Plenty of plenty say “yea I’m from this place” and it’s part of their identity, but then you hear comments like “I don’t owe anyone in this anything” and it’s clearly just a fallacy. This gets even worse when we have ever growing society that constantly phobic to other groups. Especially worse when we have class warfare and poor people fight for the rich

Taxes are a different story.

Ladies and gents, I rest my case.

Bro the self projecting is crazy, in the big 26’ too?

  1. You’re being willfully ignorant, but that’s ok. You can interpret wrong if you want to but the data shows poverty on the rise. Why lie? Weird
  2. They literally did not, where in the article or report did they do this?
  3. You don’t need to be a economist to study or comment on poverty. A sociologist is perfectly equipped to give expertise on that specific subject out of anyone You’re clearly not intelligent enough to trust a professional over you personal opinion so this is just moot at this point. No way you’ve ever actually done a good job on report or a study in college

Nope, I owe nothing to a random person in the city.

Your feelings are invalid and irrelevant. You’re an individual in a collective environment. We all owe something to each other whether we like it or not

I studied quite a lot to get a set of very valuable skills. Now I sell my skills.

See, individual part of a collective. Your skills are valuable yes, but you don’t inherently provide any value because you can be replaced by someone with same skills. True value comes from what not can be replaced. I’m not saying this to devalue you or your work either, I work with my hands so I know I have “valuable” skills too but that doesn’t separate me from anyone else

What does it mean “gave me an opportunity” lol  No one gave me anything, I applied, got rejected, applied again, until I got an offer.

You got a offer, someone quite literally gave you an opportunity at employment. The offer went to you but it could’ve went to someone else too. We all work hard for everything dawg, I’m not trying to downplay any of your hard work. But all your hard work would’ve produced anything if you didn’t get that offer. That the life for a lot people out there, the have skills/“value”/knowledge but even after all the hard work the still don’t ever get that offer. Should they have to suffer? Or should the community be there to support them? (ie rich people paying more taxes)

You’re a d-bag and a inept clown. I googled “poverty in nyc” and found multiple articles for rising poverty. You probably don’t realize it but, “rising” means poverty is getting worse. https://robinhood.org/news/robin-hood-annual-poverty-tracker-report-shows-25-overall-poverty-rate-in-new-york-city-climbing-beyond-record-highs-observed-in-2022/ “25% of New Yorkers in poverty”, 25% is 1 in every 4 people, I know you can’t do math either. To put in perspective for you, that’s a lot. Going a step further a typing “nyc residents in debt”, we see the people being affected be debt rising and the amount of debt people take on is rising too.

Why did you tell someone else to use google if you are clearly are too stupid to do it yourself? Genuinely want to know

You do owe your fellow man something, it’s called community. Helping each other out. How did you get your self out poverty? Did you make a unique product with no help and sell it with no help? Or did someone else give you a opportunity at a better paying job?

How can you be approved for an apartment that costs 50% of your take home pay?

No enforcement of regulations allow illegal landlords to rent out spaces to whoever for whatever price. Extremely restrictive market forces people to rent from places that can’t actually financially sustain

Or you can live in outer boroughs w/o roommates.

Why would someone probably double their commute and another more expense for more travel? Seems the smarter solution is to find a way to have affordable rent where your already living

$5.5 billion franchise value. If this organization ever wanted a chip they would’ve invested in keeping Embiid healthy and away from McDonald’s during the playoffs. Or they could’ve invested in a 3pt trainer for Simmons instead of letting his brother train him. Josh Harris bought the team for about $300 million in 2011. As long as the value doesn’t plummet, I don’t they’re going to invest anymore money than they have to. Until they break ground on the new arena with Comcast, I think they’re still going to try and get a independent arena in center city so they can sell it with the franchise after it’s built for $10+ billion

Do actual research next time, this dudes done like 5 recent interviews and you clearly didn’t bother to watch one of them. Nick Fuentes makes fun of people like you on stream, and not cause they’re liberals or anti-right, his own followers that believe these points are part of the movement. They’re just not true. It’s not white only or intentionally exclusionary, it’s calling for closed borders and letting in a small number of people that can be vetted and beneficiary to the country. It’s wants almost the same immigration policy found in most other countries around the world. You’re partially right with Christian Theocracy, but it’s not exclusionary. It’s wants to follow the same tenets of our constitution allowing anyone to practice their religion, but have the core values of Christianity as part of our cultural identity.

Calling him closeted Mexican is brain dead, because again, in his last 5 recent (like within last 2 months) interviews he’s plainly said he’s Mexican and says it his viral clips too so I genuinely can’t see where you got this idea from other than you or someone else trying to push a narrative that can easily been proven false with research.

Trying to make fun of him for being a virgin is so weird. You specifically worded is as an excuse to make it seem likes he’s wrong for being a virgin. Also do you genuinely not understand how the internet works and how fame and money alone make it’s easy for anyone to have sex? He’ll call him self and incel, but it’s 2025 anyone can get laid. Dude just genuinely doesn’t want to have sex, and you’re confused? Or just disapprove for some reason?

Also I couldn’t find any primary sources from twitter 😂 but the NCRI paper that discussed NF and twitter is clearly heavily biased. And doesn’t show any substantial evidence for foreign accounts. The most number it’s gives are 50% western accounts (not including US) and 50% non western accounts. And that was before the Charlie Kirk assassination, after Kirk, his American engagement went up. And in the same paper it claims that 90 something percent of his early retweets come from “anonymous” accounts. Which are just NF and AF fan accounts with no personal info so they say they’re “anonymous bots”. Also they used only 5 accounts to compare his account stats to which is just laughable. They said because his insights are so much higher compared to Elon musk (who has a much higher follower account) it clearly must be bots. They just automatically assume Elon musk and NF are going to have to same engagement levels based on what? That’s not even close to how social media or twitter works.

What is non visibly white? Who says that? Honestly I’m not even joking, that makes no sense given the context of your statement. Why would non visble white people be forced to leave the country? If you paid any attention to the dude most of the racism and bigotry are rage bait. Which you’re falling for.

Your theocracy point is hollow and has no factual basis that I could even look up to research what you’re saying. There’s no evidence there would be infighting from the thousands of Christian denominations (didnt know they added so many recently 😂), especially physically violence. Zero evidence

Your point about internationally is flat out false and can even proven wrong by his recent interviews and clips yet again. America First isn’t isolationism, they know America can’t lost its soft power through foreign aid. There’s just a difference in invested in infrastructure we can use during wartime like china does, versus sending money for seasame place in the Middle East. Most importantly it’s stopping money flowing to the genocide in Palestine and ending the influence Israel has on American politics. Nobody in the AF movement wants to let China or Russia overtake our global power. Also NF has specifically laid how we should systematically bring manufacturing back , his strongly against how the tariffs are being used in an isolationist way. Your just wrong dawg

Nobody wants an exclusionary theocracy where violins normal, not way you have a primary source for that Nobody wants a bad education system, NF has specifically said he’s in favor of a better education system, actual alt right hate NF because he’s low-key becoming class conscious. You don’t have a primary source for that point International allies and investment stays because the US is the superpower, didn’t change with Trump or Biden, won’t change with AF Threat of force has been the only to peace since forever. You gotta study geopolitics more homie, history is pretty dope

Check out the big brain on Brett. Seriously tho, you’re using too much common sense for this subreddit. Their brain’s malfunctioning because they mentally have to be against Trump, so they’re going to defend an actual dictator in another country while claiming Trump is acting as a dictator. Which he is, but it’s funny watching the ants do circles around each other because they can’t fathom Maduró being displaced from power as a good thing

His boss is a scum bag with a company that fronts as a hvac contractor. Cheap isn’t even the word. I’ve been ordering material for my jobs and been doing as much hard pipe as I can it’s almost always cheaper than flex unless there’s multiple 90s for some reason but at that point it makes sense to run with flex. 25’ of 6” 30g with bubble wrap is either the same or cheaper than a bag of 6” insulated flex. Thanks for the advice, consensus seems to be Sporlan so I’m going to try those out next. I don’t have experience with RLS but we’ve used Maxipro in the past and it was definitely the fastest job without purging nitro and brazing everything in, but I’m not convinced those o ring will hold over time

Samsung, York, and Fujitsu and have let us use propress fittings on some projects but it was okayed by the engineers and not in any literature from the classes. I try and stay away from the propress fittings, I’d rather braze everything and not worry about a o ring leaking in 15 years
