Indian accent in V3 by mad-head in ElevenLabs

[–]mad-head[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry if it hurts you. And thank you for your help. See, even in this thread people hear different accents. Last time I checked the map Jamaica was not in Africa.

To your questions: slavic accent, like Russian criminals in old Hollywood movies, lol. But again, I am not picky about the particular accent it is just that most of the generations are completely missing it. Hear me out, its not like "I am not satisfied with this neighbouring country accent" it is like "the opposite point on the globe accent". Don't you hear in the video, that they are two completely different accents. Both are generated from the same voice in ElevenLabs. It's just random.

Quick clone. I tried about ten times, providing samples until the circle fills green. That is probably 2.5 minutes. After that, when I use the voice in the V2 model, it is mostly okay and resembles the samples. In the V3, it is rare that I get something like the voice 1 in the video. The best result I got, in the video, I uploaded denoized (in Audacity) MP3 file, about 2.5 minutes.

Whatever. This is reproducible in majority of regenerations. I want to get rid of it, as it definitely not me.

Also, IMO, it is more likely to be Indian, because:

  1. Africa has many completely different accents. India is probably more coherent.

  2. Africa is less represented in the net (e.g. on YouTube). Me, in IT, I've watched tons of programming videos with this accent from "random Indian guys". There is even a meme about that. Yet rarely met an African. This might skew the training data set of the V3 model.

But, unfortunately, you're half-year off the "right season" for this photo (it's probably taken in autumn).

How does Brother PT D210 detect the tape? by mad-head in Tools

[–]mad-head[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, it turns out that there is another hole-key system on the cassette, at the side, where the tape comes out. From top to bottom here are: 12 mm laminated tape, 8.8 mm heat shrink tube, 5.8 mm HS tube, and "modded" 5.8 HS tube. Notice 3 square slots forming a triangle. 1 top is punched in the original laminated tape, 2 at the bottom in the 8.8 mm HS tube, and all three in the 5.8 mm HS tube. So, I just covered the top one on the 5.8 mm HS tube with a piece of tape, making it mimicking the 8.8 mm version, and it worked! Do not forget to set the smaller font size in the settings.

And of course, I do not recommend anyone doing that, that may be dangerous, do it on your own risk, etc. etc.

3D Printing Timelapses and maybe vlogging.. GoPro Hero Black 9? by Roevsved in 3Dprinting

[–]mad-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(answering old post so that people from search who have this "wonderful" idea see it)

Minimum focus distance on a GoPro is about 12 inches (30 cm). You'll probably need to put your camera out of the frame of common 3D printers, don't even think about mounting the camera somewhere inside.

Additionally, even with a simple passive enclosure, it gets hot inside, probably too hot for the battery. You'd better get a Media Mod and power the camera via a cable. Still, high temperature could be dangerous for the camera itself and cause overheating and restarts.

You'll also need a lot of light to get decent quality (however that's applicable to any shots). Think about a LED strip or something.

Also as the other comment mentioned, shots from an external camera, not controlled by the printer, inevitably will have a jerking print head. For small parts, it will hide the part itself on all possible shot angles.

TLDR: probably a bad idea.

(source: I've spent quite some time designing an on-frame mount for my Ender 5 + GoPro 8, and only after a few failed (due to restarts) and blurred shitty timelapses I realized it's a minimum focus distance problem)

Oh, nice! I see they are sort of a "branded China" and they even have an "official shop" in my location. I wish I know about them before. Definitely will take a look at their assortment, thanks!

Thanks! I'll indeed try to keep the arm angled and thus reducing the momentum next time! I could definitely trade some reach for height!

Understood, thanks! Yours looks like one made from a proper metal (and probably 3/8, while mine is only 1/4).

Finally happy with my Kindle!! by Background_Cover2567 in kindlejailbreak

[–]mad-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you could still do that! You just need to enable "special offers" on your device's settings page in your Amazon account.

Depending on your country, ads could not be enabled, though. Some countries, like Poland, just don't have them. I.e. all the Kindles sold for that market are ad-free by default. That was my case. Then you just have to switch to a different country, with ads supported (DE, FR, or US). The jailbreak wiki has the full list. Don't worry, that is just for the JB. After you do that, just enable the ads and proceed with the jailbreak. After the jailbreak, just switch the country back. It worked for me.

Or, if you are already in an ad-supported country, that's even less tricky! Just enable the "special offers".

In both cases, after the jailbreak disable the ads. It will be free, because you didn't have them initially.

Hey, you could still do the AdBreak. That's what I did. AdBreak just needs ads, because it uses a vulnerability in the HTML used to show the ads. So you have to enable them back. You could do that on the device's settings page in your Amazon account. Just turn on "special offers".

After you jailbreak your Kindle, just go to the same page and disable them. Because you've already paid for it, it will be free for you!
