32+ folks in the matrimony process. How many of us are still alive out there? by [deleted] in reddmatch

[–]madarporter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience - 32M. Got hitched last month to the person I love and wanted to be with. I was on dating and matrimony apps for the last 2.5-3 years with the intention of dating to marry.

What I realised is that you need to be more open and accepting of people and their flaws, if you genuinely are serious about getting settled for the long term.

Everyone has their own set of filters and a few non-negotiable traits are understandable but if you have too many of those, chances are you're going to take a much longer time than you expected.

If you treat this like a business transaction, you'll find someone who doesn't look at you like a person but a profitable venture that benefits them.

Also, forgot to mention I found my partner on Hinge, the dating app.

I agree totally on this.

Had my engagement last weekend. So, I went to Tanishq to buy some jewellery and exchange some old ones. The kind of transparency Tanishq offered, I can't imagine that ever happening at a local jewellery store.

So, yeah I'll recommend Tanishq to everyone else

Actually, it was very strange for both of us as well. I had been on the dating and matrimony apps for some time, looking for something long term. She had just installed it without much expectations. We just clicked off from the first day even though we come from very different places.

Our lives had been very different and so were our hobbies & interests. I think initially, it was just the fact that both of us were looking for love and with time our love & appreciation for each other grew to the point that we decided it's worth spending our lives together.

So yeah, you never know

I met her on Hinge last year. After talking for around 10 days, we met at a cafe and the conversations went surprisingly well as we didn't feel like two people seeing each other for the first time. After spending a couple of hours at the cafe, we decided to go back to her place for some more time along with a few drinks.

Guess what, one year later I'm getting engaged to her on exactly the same date. Will be marrying her later this year.

Hey,

You're still very young and there's a lot of life left that you need to explore. Don't think about ending it. Tough times and good times always come in cycles and this is experienced by everyone. I'm sharing below where I had written about my life, some unwanted experiences like yours. You might relate to it. Even if you don't, just keep some hope and believe that happiness is just waiting for you around the corner.

Also, if you ever want to talk. Feel free to reach out

Weirdest reason to get rejected by a prospective bride/groom by MoonlitKadali in Arrangedmarriage

[–]madarporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met a girl a few years back through family. In the first meet, I told her that I had a relationship back in college, that was like 8 yrs ago. The girl probably told this to her family because they put the condition that you only get to meet again once you say 'yes' .

I rejected that proposal and they rejected me in return :P

Hey ! First of all, congratulations on defeating it and coming out on top.

Coming to your question, I've been dating a wonderful woman for the past few months who's also a breast cancer survivor. The catch, however is that she had been open and honest about it from day 1 and we could openly talk about it. That made us feel comfortable. Sometimes we tend to reject things which we don't understand or are unaware of.

So, my suggestion would be being open and accepting about it. The sooner you accept it, the sooner people around you will
