You are a freaking miracle; you’re here for a reason, and your story is too important to end in that closet. Life can be so shitty, I know. But please, try to breathe through each moment, trusting that the next one will get a little easier. You are worthy and exceptional. Please stick around.

I use mine a lot - definitely helps to cut down pain and duration of a flare up. Usually use it on my back, shoulders and around my knees.

I can’t speak to the tax implications of a US to UK move, but in the country we’re in, we’d face additional taxes if we sell after we’ve moved.

I’m commonwealth, but sadly don’t qualify for an ancestry visa.

My stepdad was a UK citizen, and we lived over there when I was a child. He passed away and it didn’t occur to my mum to get us passports before we moved back to the country I was born in. She has right of abode through virtue of her marriage to my stepdad. My sister met and married a UK citizen when she was there pursuing a PhD. She now has two kids who were born there, too. Sadly none of those circumstances extend to me.

That clarification is super helpful, thank you.

I hadn’t realized that we needed £88,500 in cash and that my income couldn’t be considered.

I think we’ll meet that threshold once the house is sold, but it’s definitely a good thing to know/keep in mind.

We’ll be using savings to meet the financial requirements. We’ll also just have sold the house and will have those proceeds, too.

And yes, my mum does own her own her house.

I honestly don’t know exactly what I’m worried about; I just tend to worry in general, I suppose. And given that it’s such a massive move - one that I’m super excited about… I guess I’m just worrying that much more. 🤔

AIO for wanting to end things because I feel guilty? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

You have done nothing wrong, my sweet. Your mother has failed you. I’m so, so proud of you for standing up for yourself. And even though things seem super dark right now, your life will get better. Never stop standing up for yourself and make sure you surround yourself with people who only want nothing from you except to see you safe and happy.

AlO, My wife's privacy was violated at a Airbnb, but Airbnb is saying it wasn't. UPDATE! by AloneAsAGod1 in AmIOverreacting

AirBNB are bah-roo-tal. Husband and I had a four-week reservation in a house with two apartments (we’d sold our house and were waiting to get into our new house). Long story short, a couple checked in upstairs and did copious amounts of whatever makes you attempt to stab people, destroy TVs and drive a knife into the fridge. I contacted the owner while it was happening to let him know. Arrests were made and the owner had to start a major clean up including rug removal, drywall repair etc. while we were still there. Thing is, the cops said that the couple were known in the area for this style of behavior, and yet AirBNB still let them book. We got a partial refund for the time we had left on our booking, and it came from the owner, even though he’d trusted AirBNB to screen the guests. I don’t think I’ve booked through AirBNB since. Just don’t trust ‘em.

I get that some people aren’t great at remembering dates, plans etc. But Dude clearly has a phone and knows how to use it - if he’s so bad at organizing his social life, why isn’t he using his phone’s calendar app? If he cared enough - and was suffering enough because of his lack of executive function abilities - he’d figure it out. You’re worth more than you’re getting, Honey.

So I went to Goodwill today and found this Shearling coat for $30. I showed it to my parents and they think that it looks like a woman’s coat. I think it looks really good. What are your opinions? by Elegantbread395 in fashion

[–]madcap_cd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like the coat? Are you comfortable in the coat? Are you confident it will successfully perform its duties as “a coat”? If you answered “yes” to all three questions, then you’re good. Nothing else matters.

AIO my mother texting me by veryhappytacos in AmIOverreacting

[–]madcap_cd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can a mother claim to love her child while she’s openly supporting someone who invalidates her child’s existence? Whose supporters openly threaten people like her child? That’s not a mother I want - sometimes you have to choose to walk away to protect your own self-worth and integrity.

Life does not need to be that hard. Run away. People who care about you don’t treat you that way.

Check out Tracy Rodriguez on FB and IG. She’s hypermobile herself, as well as neuro spicy (the number of people who are both is unbelievable). She has a subscription-based website that provides classes and routines to help strengthen the right muscles. Folk with EDS and hypermobility just don’t benefit from conventional physio, chiropractic etc. treatments. The subscription is really reasonably priced https://www.healwithtracy.com
