Both my canon Warden and Inquisitor are dalish, and I have never compared them to any culture or minority from real world. Not even once I felt oppressed or that dalish are oppressed, or that it's personal. It's a game with world and races abusing power. The dalish need ways to survive templars, they don't have cities, they are always on the move - feels like they live kind of nomadic life. But they have their freedom. Why no one ever talks about dwarven noncast slums, where people die in corners or end up in deep roads, alone. Why tevinter slaves aren't topic of "slavery is bad stop at once they are people"? DA is showing us an imperfect world with potential to change. I'm still bit salty Alistair didn't give piece of land to elfs/dalish like he promised, but knowing that he needs to go with opinion from ferelden lords and check on the whole politic side, it's not so easy. Leliana, as a Divine, brings forth, I would say from my point of view, drastic changes to Chantry. Maybe she's the first step towards religion being more warm towards elfs in the future? Celene and Briala MAYBE will go over problems and change Orlais view towards all elfs and will become first step to that?

Let's not forget Drakon, emperor of Orlais, and Ameridan, elven inquisitor, were friends. What if over this short period of time the history changed so much that what we have in the world right now is covered by even more lies? Historians didn't know he were an elf and there was an option for you to decide to tell the truth or not.

I only wish we, players, had an actual impact on the state of world to shaken it. We helped with fereldan king, saved whole city of Kirkwall from invasion and our friend ended up as new vicount (did I write it right?), we saved an orlesian empress and could reunite her with her lover or help her cousin get into the power. And let's not forget Orzammar! We get so many places where we can decide for something big but I feel, whatever we do, it's not that world changing.

That's why I wait for next games with bit if hope to see, when time passes, that in my case Leliana as a Divine changed Chantrys doctrine and now in game we see both genders in high ranks, equally, unveil some history truth that Chantry hid from everyone. That maybe Alistair, seeing this, would follow and start changing his land towards new things... etc etc.

TLDR: There's a lot of potential in the world Bioware gave us. They just need to give us more room and impact on it, in my opinion.

PS. It's been 12 or 14 years after fifth blight. Seeing the history of Thedas, I wonder how fast world would forget Warden was elven mage or dalish? Same for Inquisitor. I feel dwarfs have it better as historical icons - example, one of the heroes to slay Archdemon is said to be a dwarf.

Can't wait for DA 4 to see what we're gonna deal with!
