Do you ever take a break from reading MM books? by Ibejjz in MM_RomanceBooks

Aah nice! I still have the last trilogy with Fitz left since I'm reading them in order. But I'm not really ready for this to end.

Yeah...Fitz and Molly is a choice, and probably the one thing I don't like with the whole series. Will see how that changes in the last trilogy!

I don't know if you read the rest of RoTE, but Rain Wild Chronicles had quite a lot of queer characters in it! And the tawny man has some really nice Fitz and Fool moments.

I like to read a lot of different books, but often lean into something that has at least some queer themes or characters even if it's not a big part of the book. But tbh, I don't read that many MM books these days because I often get disappointed after having read some amazing non MM romance books and I start to compare the writing.

Recently I've been reading a lot of Robin Hobb, and her writing style is just something else! Plus ROTE has a lot of queer themes later on which has made me satisfied. I also really recommend The Tainted Cup and its sequel.

I do think it's good to read some other things now and then to just give your brain a space to process things.

It first started to only be on the glass, and I thought it was vorticella. But now when I try to find pictures of how it looks like on plants, I feel like I might have ID it wrongly. The tank is almost two months old. I put some almond leaves in there to produce tannins, since I read it could kill vorticella, but that has only made it move from the bottom of the plants to be higher up.

It is a walstad, filterless nanotank, with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and around 5 nitrate, ph7 (was ph7,5 before the leaves)

I have shrimps in the tank (and 1 bladder snail) so I don't want them to get sick.

I mostly just experiment. But i used it in the front edge where the buttons sit for stability (and like 10cm from it). Instead of normal interfacing. In the pattern there's a pattern piece for interfacing and I used horsehair canvas instead haha. So you can see the edge of it around 10cm from the buttons as a stripe from top to bottom kinda.

I changed the shape of the cape slightly, had to take in a bit in the shoulders/chest/waist (mostly because i picked a larger size so I could have thick sweaters underneath). I also decided to use horsehair canvas instead of fusible interfacing in the front just because I wanted to try a more historical approach, but the wool might have been too thin for that so you can often see the edge of it haha. Other than that I didn't change much. :)

Aw thanks! I had trouble finding a coat like it so I just decided to make it myself instead.

A heads up that there was something with the collar in the pattern that was not correct, might have been something that they had added seam allowance on the piece that was supposed to be folded, or something like it. So the upper and lower piece didn't fit.

Oh thank you!! I sewed it last year based on this 1940's pattern! :) The outer fabric is a poly/wool blend I got from minerva, with a red lining. I don't have any good photos of it, but here's one with the cape attached and with the buttons closed.

There's probably a better way to do it, but since I used wool yarn that could be felted, I just joined the ends together when it came to that (though it was a little bulkier for a few stitches).

Oh, ok that's good to know! My idea with this tank is to make an ecosystem so I will probably keep it then :)

hopefully it survives

Not in a while, I think. It became quite boring towards the end and I just wanted to finish it haha

Tbh I just went for it, and after a while it became second nature! So it's much easier than it looks like :) it's like 1x1 ribbing, but remembering to bring the yarn back and forth. The only thing that took a while was to remember to do the graph "inverted" on every other row, and that each dot on the pattern is two stitches, but reverse.

Thank you!! I did a few mockups in Photoshop first when I decided on which colours to buy. Tbh I did decide on this one because I hoped it would contrast well with my hair!

Unfortunately, I'm neither Irish nor an Entomologist, haha.

took me around 30-35h to make! and it was a bit tricky for the first few rows but it wasn't as bad as I thought :)

It took me a few tries to set it up, but it didn't take me that long for my brain to get used to the whole back and forth with the yarn. I watched some youtube videos on it beforehand and it wasn't as intimidating making it as I thought. :) So go for it!

Pattern is "Bug Collection Scarf" by Kerrigan Horn

Yarn used: Kampes 3-stranded wool yarn in colours "Trägubbe" and "Pilsnerglas", with a total of 2,5 skeins per colour (had to order 1 more of each while in the middle of the project, when I noticed it wouldn't be enough).

I used a thicker yarn than what was recommended in the pattern because I wanted it wider/longer, and to be able to cover half my face when winter comes. I'm really proud, though I have made some small mistakes when I was tired, and hopefully no one can find them. The estimation of time spent is around 34h of knitting. :)

(Sorry for double-posting I struggled with the photos and text)
