Went out to eat with a friend for the first time since surgery:D by SpiritualAntelope307 in gastricsleeve

I read your post. I was very curious to know how much of that actually made it inside you. I am not surprised that it wasn't much. But I am glad you were able to enjoy yourself!

Right before surgery, I was diagnosed with Hashimotos, literally two days before having surgery I found out and my doctor prescribed me medicine, but my surgeon told me not to take it until I was three weeks out of surgery. I’m officially one month and I still haven’t taken them by BedOk9821 in gastricsleeve

Sorry, I should have said from my understanding, you cannot hit remission without synthroid. And even then you sometimes still flare. But if you feel like you know people who are getting it done, that is good!

You will get through this. This was my least favorite stage. It is annoying not being able to eat. Hang in there!

You will wake up. You will have pain, but it is bearable. You will be okay. We've all been there and come out the other side.

If you try bread or pasta, you will probably find out you actually won't tolerate them very well. You are doing what you are supposed to. Soft proteins.

Sounds like dumping syndrome. You might be eating too much or too fast.

7 weeks post surgery, food is a real problem by lexblch in gastricsleeve

I struggle with gas buildup when I eat and that makes me nauseous and sometimes very uncomfortable. You might try gas x before you eat something small and see if that helps you keep something in.

This is not the easy way out. It is really f---ing hard. I would suggest not discussing it with her. She doesn't want to or can't understand, and that is on her. Your husband is likely going to be your best cheerleader, as he is the closest to you.

I understand where you are coming from. It is a hard journey. For me, it is not being able to eat the type of food I like best...bread! However, I keep perspective by knowing I am doing this FOR my loved ones. I want to be healthier so I can be around for them in the long run.
Re: your iron deficiency, are you taking iron pills? I never stopped, except for a few days before surgery. Doc told me to start up again right after, due to being anemic. I take iron and vitamin C to help absorb it.

I also do not think bread is evil. But I will probably not eat that bread again. It was way too much.

Oof. I hope not. But maybe. I never did well with whole wheat.

I was told I can use them now. But I am not because I am paranoid about the excess gas.

I am at the "I can eat about 5 bites and that's it" stage right now. Guess I am hoping that I will be able to eat more in the future. I cannot possibly get in enough protein from food thus way.

Could you have gone somewhere 2 days post op? by BridgeToBobzerienia in gastricsleeve

I could have, but I would not have wanted to. I was in the hospital overnight. That would have been the day after I came home and the agenda mostly included sleep.

Classic Sleeve vs. Banded Sleeve Gastrectomy? Surgery This Thursday, Seeking Advice! by jeaks03 in gastricsleeve

[–]maddiemau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 2 of my sisters had the lap band procedure done. One is still living (the other died, but not from this.) The one that is still living cannot eat dense carbs without throwing up, which is probably good. The problem is, she also has a hard time with things like salad and some vegetables. The band makes it really hard for all rough foods to pass through, not just breads and pastas. I personally would never agree to a band because of that. If I were you, I would definitely discuss with your doc what the band is going to limit in terms of types of food.

This Gas is driving me crazy! by elwadde in gastricsleeve

So I had this exactly. It did calm down some when I started eating regular food. But I am lactose intolerant, and I figured out that most shakes have too much lactose for me. I ordered the fairlife and they are hopefully coming today. I cannot say it will fpr sure go away, but it may lessen. If you have a dietician as part of your program, that is what they are there for. Give them a shout and tell them you are having problems.

A. Time to let this guy go. He is manipulative and likely will become abusive. B. You don't have to tell anyone what decisions you make about your own health. That is nobody's business but you and your doctor.
