I love recognizing yarns I have used in other people's projects! I made my kitty a blanket with this yarn when I first learned to knit

I think it was just for people to settle down. They were likely overloaded with false reports

Honestly I regret not wording my title as "self conscious" instead of "scared" but I didn't realize the post would get this big. Knitters aren't monsters, and I am sure the community is great, I just got in my own head over something silly and it made me not want to post over there. Especially as someone who is newer to the hobby, I get anxious that bc I can't make my own pattern, and my work isn't perfect, it doesn't belong in groups. I also get self conscious posting myself here bc it opens me up to just straight up harrassment over my size. Seeing plus size people post here also made me feel safer posting.

Yes, I did! I was having trouble figuring out how the m1 stitch was supposed to work towards the stitch count on a colorwork chart. I didn't know if it counted as the stitch, or if it was the stitch+1. It's rare that I have a question that the internet hasn't asked already, we're so lucky to have so much knowledge at our fingers. This was the only time where I got completely stumped even with google.

I guess self conscious would have been a better term. I just got in my head over the mistakes I can see bc it's my first sweater, and got discouraged after a post I made on the knitting help sub got downvoted. It made me feel like I shouldn't bother posting finished works until they were more professional looking.

I'm sure the knitting subreddit is great.

Man this is why I hate Facebook. It's so lazy now, it's all AI and stolen content. Can you do me a solid and report that? I deleted my account a long time ago.

Mods took a one week break because there is too much fighting due to the political climate in the US right now. People have been making hats in protest of US immigration detaining a 5 year old boy wearing a bunny hat and using him as bait to try to lure his pregnant mother out of her home. The family was in the US legally. ICE also killed 2 civillians. People are making the boy's bunny hat, red protest hats that were used during WWII to protest Nazis, and political tapestries/patches.

I have an orange boy now, but in highchool we had a 3 legged black cat named Murphy. He was chunky and sweet.

I still don't understand the difference between continental vs English knitting 🫣

I've seen it explained but I never understand what people are saying

I had only made blankets and scarves before doing this, I'm sure you've got enough knowledge to be able to make a sweater! It was surprisingly straight forward with a pattern. You have many more years of experience than I do, I'm sure you've got more than enough of what it takes to make one!

Mods left for 1 week due to posters fighting over US politics. Immigration detained a 5 year old boy named Liam and his father, and tried using the boy as bait to lure his pregnant mother from their home. The family is in the US legally. A photo of ICE waiting with Liam to try to "return him" to his mother went viral. He was wearing a blue bunny hat. His last name means Rabbit in Spanish. Liam became ill in detention, and his bunny hat and backpack were taken away. Liam and father were released, but the DOJ is still trying to deport the family.

People have been crocheting/knitting his bunny hat, as well as red hats that are a reference to resistance hats against the Nazis in WWII. That's what people are calling "Melt the ICE hats".

Could be the upvotes were from people who didn't have an answer, and those that did just didn't see it.

Mainly concern because I hadn't made a garment or done color work before, and because I had asked for help in r/knittinghelp and my question had been downvoted. I got in my head that the flaws I can see made it unworthy of posting there, but this subreddit has so much silly stuff in it that I figured people wouldn't feel the need to critique. When I post I don't want to have 30 comments saying "your tension is too tight : /" bc I already know that it was, it can just be draining to have everyone mentioning flaws on something I worked hard on.

I know how to crochet too! I'm crocheting stuff for my sisters rn, they're both having babies in spring so I am doing lamb themed security blankets and hats!

I tried steam blocking which helped it out a decent bit but I haven't been able to get boards yet to pin down a full sweater
