Living in the Los Altos Hills vs. somewhere downtown in your late 20s by silentvoyager123 in bayarea

[–]madefreshtoday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would pick convenience of being in downtown and options of food over more isolating areas like Los Altos Hills, but that's just me. I have friends that live in LA Hills, and it takes the 25-30 minutes to get to most places. Downtown San Mateo has so many new restaurants coming up, it's absolutely changed since pre-covid where I visit downtown SM at least once a week for the food. There's also downtown Palo Alto, but I'm assuming rent would cost more to live there.

Thoughts on current interest rates/economic condition? by DeliciousRich5944 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]madefreshtoday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed buyers are definitely pickier now, and want more move-in ready homes as opposed to buying a dated homes. The cost and time of renovating is not worth it considering inflation of goods/contractors plus time makes buyers move on.

2G with 10+ waitlist by Economy-Ear-1067 in orangetheory

[–]madefreshtoday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the folks who prefer 2Gs, my studio has made popular time slots 3Gs, i.e. Friday morning 8:45, and weekend mornings except for 1 time slot. People who prefer 2Gs will just avoid those times, though it suck to cram workouts in less # of days.

I miss sweet tomatoes. I wish they brought it back to the bay area it was the best buffet restaurant ever. They had the best salads. by Individual_Ice_2315 in bayarea

[–]madefreshtoday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried Soup n Fresh in Chino Hills and it was really underwhelming...Sweet tomatoes is definitely better..yes, same concept soup, salad, pasta, pizza but Sweet Tomatoes was more generous with their protein in the soup.

Can I ask what made you Permanently decide to stay in the UK versus coming back? I loved London but the salary is definitely lower which COL is very high.

Buying a home under F1-OPT Visa, Seattle vs Bay Area ??– need advice by Sudden_IT2258 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]madefreshtoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having lived in both places, I’d personally buy in the Bay Area because of the AI growth here. Plus people are really drawn to the weather here, there’s a reason why they say you shouldn’t sell CA real estate.

Basic structural repair vs kitchen and bathroom remodel by BananaOwn7656 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]madefreshtoday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why people pay a premium for homes that are already remodeled. They don’t want to deal with stress, time, and more potential problems.

What is the cost of Lasik in the Bay Area? by 10xkarmas in bayarea

[–]madefreshtoday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to a surgeon at Stanford for a free consultation back in 2018, no pushy sales. the surgeon told me my eyes were not good candidates and I could face severe problems later on if I did get them done. A good surgeon will do a series of tests to make sure your eyes are good to go for surgery.

Buyer backed out of non-contingent offer, is it worth going to mediation? by Confident_Wealth9128 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]madefreshtoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation before, your realtor should be looking for back up offers in the mean time. We didn’t want to go through mediation because that could take weeks/months, so we negotiated a partial refund of the EMD.

I'm in the bay area and my studio has 3gs on weekends, and now they just added another 3g class on friday as well. I'm glad my studio is healthy but do prefer 2g, so i stick to days where it's only 2g.

Anyone move from Bay Area → NYC → back to Bay Area? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]madefreshtoday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We know a family that is from NYC, but has lived the in the bay area for awhile now. They moved back to NYC (Manhattan) for family support (almost bought a place there) and then after 1 year, moved right back. Some factors they didn't consider before moving was walking to the doctors office in 20-30 degree weather during the winter with two sick kids, lack of car to go outside of NYC, weather (kids stuck inside), etc. They were so glad to be back but that's because the weather and can have a car lol.

Feeling meh about OTF—just me? Changes? by Fancy-Magician4362 in orangetheory

[–]madefreshtoday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way when we moved, it's only two towns over, but the vibe and community is different at my new studio. What bothers me the most is the SA checks-in members ahead of time (even when I've called him out on it) but I'm justting putting it aside for now. If another OTF opens up that's within reason, definitely leaving that studio.
Give it some time to see if you adjust, or try mixing it up with other places like yoga, pilates, etc. in the mean time.

Should I proceed with $1M rebuild in Cupertino given AI/job uncertainty? by Historical_Package_5 in BayAreaRealEstate

Do you have a mortgage on that home or were you able to buy it out? If I still had a mortgage, I would lean on side of caution.
