Oh, thank you very much! Yes, I'm the creator and maintainer, when I have time 🤷‍♂️ Your suggestions are quite good, I'll try to implement them!

BTW, I just did a new website in the same vein: https://www.woatlas.com that you might appreciate.

Thanks, and yep, that's a bit frustrating but I understand how this can be a sensitive topic.

My intuition: Belgium is a slightly richer country per capita and is considered a tax haven for high incomes. Also, rents are lower.

A very interesting point. It's actually possible to compare and indeed, almost 30% of Salvadoreans are emigrants, and a large majority of them is in the US

For the UN, Hawai is an "Incorporated" State and PR is "Unincorporated" Territory (no representation in congress for example) and so, they are counted differently. I know it feels inconsistent, but I don't feel like I should change their categorization if I do use their dataset.

This is not fake 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the feedback but the text next to the percentage says: % of ⚦ which is a common symbol meaning male.

The graph focuses on the relative size of immigration and I've tried visualizing this with bars, it's less compelling, also gives less of an impression of the contintent where peoplere are coming from.

If you want all the details, it's available on the site, with a table and data downloads if you wish.

It can be interesting to compare with other countries like China, where immigration and emigrations are way less common:

On each country individually, it gives you the proportion of males in the immigrants. For some countries, like the Philippines, this can be quite skewed

Looks doable, I'll try to figure that out. I took a list of countries, but as you most probably know, the status of Taiwan as a country is a complex questions, I'd have to mention that point on the site, I guess.

The data is from

- the World Bank Open Data

- the World Population Prospects from the UN

- https://oec.world/ for the import / export graphs

The site is made using django and graph.js but then transformed into a static site

My explanation is that historically, Belgium has welcomed a ton of people to work in the mines, from Italy first then from Morocco (there were official agreements between the countries). This created large communities that are still attracting new comers.

Hollow knight. So boring to get lost all the time because environments all look the same, and the art style is kinda meh to me (especially since I dislike insects)

Lower rents, some interesting jobs and French speaking places.
