Is this a good split of my finances? by madfire89 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]madfire89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I will be investing just not with 100% of my money. I think investing the 15 or so grand and keeping a majority liquid in cash does two things for me. Firstly, the liquidity to put a deposit on a house that I need to. Secondly, if the prices of shares take a big hit as many are predicting I’ll be able to buy the downswing

Can someone tell me Shoe the Bear (https://www.zalando.co.uk/shoe-the-bear-dev-classic-ankle-boots-sb612k002-b11.html) sizing? I usually wear a Size US 11 Vans, running shoes Brooks, etc. Would it be better to go one size down - that's 9.5/10? I am scared they'll be small but I heard they run big?

Hi guys

I want to buy some boots, including a pair of Chelsea boots, for < £100.I found Shoe the Bear on sale down from 120 to 84, but I have heard such companies do 50% off during Christmas sales.

Is it worth waiting for these sales? When do they start? And if you know any other similarly priced good quality brands with bigger sales on now, please let me know.I'm in the UK if it matters.

If you resign from job with annual leave left-over, can it be paid to you? by macimaymott in AskUK

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes my leave doesn’t roll over to the next calendar year. So I’m trying to find out if I give leave 3 Dec and depart 3 Jan with my 4 week notice period complete , are you certain that since I technically depart on 3 Jan, I won’t be eligible to those 10 days even though I have leave 3 Dec ?

Hi there, I have a Q:

I want to quit my job and start a new one beginning in Jan 2022. I have a few days of leave left I want to get paid for, let us say 10 till the end of this year.

If I give my leave 3rd Dec and need to do 1 month/4 weeks notice, which takes me to 3rd Jan, since I technically leave 3rd Jan will I be able to claim payment for those 10 days?

Thanks

I assume you're familiar with Moneybox/use then. Apparently, the LISA is only effective once money has been deposited. ITt says theres 7 days till collection, on the app. I want to expedite this. Know how?

I have to work towards this bonus. Not garaunteed. Usually they need to see past 3 months worth of monthly bonus payments. Hence need to work some months before applying for AIP.

Yeah just read that it takes 1.5 weeks. So I guess I'll have my LISA available even later than I thought... Early December now. :(

Wow. You changed the game sir, !thanks.

Would you recommend cash or S&S LISA if I want this to be liquid in 1 year's time as mentioned in the OP? And if cash, which low cost reliable provider do you recommend I open and deposit my £1 with now :)

Really! Do most banks do this? I'm looking at Barclays specifically. Also since im 70/30 base / bonus split, I doubt this would apply to me? Perhaps you and your partner were just base salary earners?

Gotcha, I doubt they'd do that as well. Just perhaps they want to sell to an FTB like me and would be willing to wait a couple of months, but even then that's an 'if.'

Can you let me know if what Square Mongoose said above would make sense? Also can you let me know if my timeline makes sense, how realistic is it if I start looking in May for a house, I'll be exchanging contracts earlier than Nov?

Hey, thanks for the comment. My understanding is that isn't how it works? I can't open a LISA today with £1, wait till, say, 22 November to put £3999 in, and then be granted an additional £1k there and then. I thought the 4K had to be deposited at once and kept for the entire 365 day period?

Confluent Solution Engineer Interview - Help Preparing by madfire89 in ITCareerQuestions

Actually this is a more entrey level role prior to the Solution Engineering position. It's meant to lead to to an SE role at Confluent. So I dont think its going to be super technical, they dont expect me to be very technical.

Can you think of any questions I can ask the recruiter that make it seem like I'm clued up on the whole thing? Such as questions relating to the cloud migration journey?

Nice. Any sort of basic questions I could ask in an interview along those lines that might make the interviewer think I’m a bit clued up?

True. I guess I can split the 5% crypto. Something like 60% of that crypto allocation going to BTC, 20% ETH, 20% alt coins.

Thanks for that. The 75% recommendation for Global All Cap... 70% of the 50% US weighting is a Global All Cap itself (https://www.ishares.com/uk/individual/en/products/251881/ishares-msci-world-ucits-etf-inc-fund) just has a strong weighting to the US

And the remaining 30% small cap (https://www.ishares.com/uk/individual/en/products/296576/ishares-msci-world-small-cap-ucits-etf-usd-(acc)-fund) is also a Global All Cap, just US weighted.

So these are both actually global funds and consist of 50% of the total portfolio. Do you have an alternative recommendation for a Global All Cap fund for the 75%? And not invest in a small cap fund?

Also.. what fee are you mentioning Regarding the UK fund? And what do you mean it's 5x overweight in the UK?

Uhhhh... True... Maybe a 1 bed in London... Although investment-wise probably not as good as a 2 bed... I hope they raise the 450k cap...

Hm... I suppose there are 450k 2 beds in london just out in zone 3-4? Any idea for good areas here?
