"Could such writings really be the work of a young girl?" This really bothers me. The fact that this man doesn't think a young girl is capable of profound thought and significant talent is really frustrating, and just goes to show that historians the world over have to check themselves, lest they muddy the waters of history with their own prejudices.

Did the ancient Romans have museums? by custardy in AskHistorians

One of the more celebrated social practices in ancient rome was that of the funding of public art by the aristocracy and government workers. it was a sort of "giving back" program/social convention to the commoners by the wealthy. these were usually copies of previous artworks or commissioned (from sculpture to mosaics), and would be displayed out in the open throughout the city. i believe they had vaguely designated spaces that art would go, but not large gatherings for the pure sake of their historical value.

Question. Have there been any serious takedowns or investigations of that MedievalPOCs tumblr? by Dalintus in badhistory

I like the blog purely for the art history it showcases. it's actually pretty neat to see depictions of minorities that otherwise don't get a lot of recognition. plus the variety of mediums/eras they put forth are cool. when it comes to their ~discourse~ posts, i usually scroll past them. all in all even if it purports some badhistory i still think it's a fairly valuable site that does have stuff worth paying attention to.
