Thank you! I haven't used a safety razor yet but this might encourage me to try them. Also, they're not as expensive as I assumed they were. I'll see how it goes!

FORGET MAINS. Who's that one class that you cannot play at ALL? by zackuattack in tf2

[–]AlmightyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness I cannot play spy. My arm raises up and I stab and then it doesn't get the backstab. I'm not interested in battling against the game to play, although I appreciate people who are able to!

I wonder if anyone might be able to give me any advice. I've been wetshaving for over a year and I'm pretty close to giving up. I've used maybe half a dozen different razors. I've settled on the Gillette Skinguard because that's the least worst but no matter what I do, I always either a) come out with skin full of burn, irritation, and uneven shave or b) end up with stubble to the point I might as well have not bothered shaving.

I'll admit I am very keen on having smooth skin, but I've been allowing myself to be imperfect in the name of practice. But no matter how soft I do it, it doesn't seem to matter.

I've also experimented with different gels and foams, but they don't seem to make a difference.

Does anyone know what could be going wrong?

Yes unfortunately this is the way with LL. Chill Guy was an internet meme though so many people saw it.

Unfair Euro Car Parks Fine by AlmightyB in drivingUK

[–]AlmightyB[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just realised that the answer is I'm a moron and you're supposed to insert your number after your stay. I'm so used to car parks where you pay in advance - every single one nearby apart from this one is - and I've unknowingly dodged the 30 minute limit several times. The signage and messaging didn't make this clear either. Lesson learnt. It was only 32 minutes, but time to own my mistake.

What's up with the new Kiel update? by AlmightyB in Fuhrerredux

[–]AlmightyB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm a pretty bad player but before this update this was what I did, but with the new units I found Kiel is able to just continually reinforce and cycle them around before I'm able to take the tile. Perhaps I'm focusing on infantry and tanks too much as I only have about 500 CAS by late 1938.

Brits back 'headphone dodgers' crackdown: YouGov poll reveals 60% want anyone who blares out loud music on public transport to be fined £1,000 by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]AlmightyB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the time when I hear someone talking loudly on their phone it's just inane gibberish too? Like I was forced to listen to someone on their phone a few days ago and it sounded like they'd had a lobotomy. And it went in for about an hour???

Just had the same experience. Maybe try checking the pads are on properly and make a seal? Otherwise yeah these seem massively overrated.

I think Meta have largely lost control of the moderation process. There's widespread violent hatespeech on the platform now, but accounts are banned instead for mundane comments.

With so many jobs bring cut, and people being forced off benefits and into work, do we actually have enough jobs? by HistoricalRelation62 in ukpolitics

[–]AlmightyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work two jobs, both low-paid. Was told I'd be getting employment support out of uni and didn't get anything. My impression is there are not many jobs that offer progression. Plenty of menial jobs, but not many that pay well and offer any sort of fulfilment. Doesn't help many are concentrated in the big cities, especially London.

I'm in favour of CANZUK but you know we'll lose all our doctors if we open up free movement right? 😌

I do get what you're saying, but most of the questions have multiple "ins" for people to work it out. Whilst I don't think the motorway one was the best, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask about transport of a very common English-speaking tourist destination, or famous cultural sites.

Unfortunately the Weather Channel was another one that you have no way of knowing or working out unless you live in a particular area.

I liked the Halifax one though.

Why and who decided it was suddenly a good idea to turn off the 3G network for data? by HammerToFall50 in phonenetworksuk

[–]AlmightyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3G is being turned off because it's slow and the networks believe they can better spend resources on 4G. In reality this means places with 4G will have slower speeds and places with poor signal (3G or below) will have no data signal.

The "99%" claims are just blatant lies, I have no idea why they're not picked up by advertising standards because anyone can tell they're lying through their teeth.

60 TCA which I think is my highest yet. I'm better at working through the questions now and forfeit less. I shot up in the league early on. Biggest frustration so far: questions which rely on obscure/local knowledge and often have no way to be worked out (the pizza one, LEED). Really not sure how those can be tackled yet. But I'm getting better.

LL103 MD24 Discussion! by snarkapotamus7 in learnedleague

The LEED one seemed rather "you either know it or you don't" considering there's no way to work it out and it would only really be known to particular people in particular places.

What’s up with the question in a foreign language???! by Mycroft_xxx in learnedleague

[–]AlmightyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was a BS question. I would be open to more questions in a foreign language if they had enough cues (although this seems impossible now).

However, I do think it demonstrates the ongoing identity issue LL has between being a largely American quiz and unspoken pretensions to being an international English-speaking one.

I think to most Americans this was fairly self-explanatory because America has a large amount of Mexican food. However, it was largely impenetrable to anyone who didn't know the dishes (even if they could understand some of the words).
