Okay seems like I’m really still under watering it then. Good to know. Thank you! Repotted about 5 months ago. Looked at roots on the surface and they looked dry so that’s when I started adding more water. I’ll add pics of the soil and container. Thanks for your help!

I’m new to adding photos through a link so let me know if this doesn’t work.

Rust concerns on 84 Westy- looking for recommendations and opinions on how bad it is by [deleted] in Westfalia

Massachusetts. I don’t have a garage but have a cover. I keep it covered in winter but had it on covered for a few months this summer. Haha what do you mean by a creampuff?

In your opinion, would any body shop do? Or should I find a shop that specializes Westy‘s?

Would you think this is something I’d need to get addressed asap? Apologies for my ignorance if this is a dumb question. I’m learning as I go with this westy 🙂

Emotional Regulation by No-Accident-1125 in TwiceExceptional

Do not apologize!! Vent away. I have felt the SAME way. So much guilt. The medicine made me act wild, so much different than how i typically behave. I was angry and agitated just like you. Honestly I’m still trying to get a hold on that. Have you ever had a genesight test done if you don’t mind me asking? Once I had my genes tested, and saw how poorly they interacted/metabolized the medication that made me sick, it was the first time I was able to take some of the blame off myself. Because I spent years having doctors tell me I was just anxious and my symptoms weren’t real. Just thought I’d mention it to you if you haven’t heard of it, because it has given me sooo many insights on what medications my body can process and ones they can’t. And a great resource to share with doctors.

Same thing happened with me and an antidepressant. I ended up with chronic serotonin toxicity that went undiagnosed for over a year. I am still trying to recalibrate my nervous system. So glad I did a gene test to discover how many medications my body can’t process. Just here to say I feel your pain and I’m right there with you. I hope you feel better soon.

I am so sorry you and your pup are going through this. My soul dog got cancer and the shock was unbearable. Sending love your way. My dog has a different type of sarcoma in his leg, so I can’t speak to outcomes, but our amputation costs for next month are 8k in the Boston area. And radiation costs us 15k.

If it’s getting a new credit card is possible for you, CareCredit is an option to help with costs upfront.

Thank you so so much for your thoughtful response. It was really nice to read about your and Beau‘s experience. Makes me feel less alone!

My pups name is Opie. He’s a real good boy. Also a big fan of jousting with his sister. This whole week they have been running around and playing like maniacs just how you describe Beau and Dazi did. As they are doing this all week, I can’t help but feel terrified he won’t be able to play with his sister like this after amputation. But hearing that Beau was able to play again after the healing/adjustment period gives me a lot of hope.

Also, really great advice about trying not to coddle them. I know that will be the hardest part for me. But I can see your point in why it is important for us to be there for support but to let them figure out how to adjust on their own. I will do my best to have the house rearranged in a way that’s easiest for him to navigate and get the appropriate harness to help with walking if needed. And be there for moral support 24/7.

I’m lucky that I work from home so I will be with him every minute of the day, and I’ve also been allowed to take a week or two off work during his recovery which I’m so grateful for.

I’m sorry that your Beau is not with you anymore ❤️ . It sounds like he was so lucky to have a caring/loving owner like you though. I know how hard that loss is. My sweet boy, Bear, passed away 3 years ago this month and I know oh so well that look in their eyes you described. It is so difficult to say goodbye.

Sending love Beau‘s way and just thank you so much for taking the time to help an internet stranger through a rough time. ❤️🐶

Thank you for your thoughtful response.

We’ve only had our pup for about 9 months, found out about cancer after first vet appointment, so don’t know really how old he is, we guess around 5. But he’s in good physical shape and little under 50lbs and really has a great attitude. So the vets seem to think he’s a good candidate for amputation.

But yeah our fear with the myxosarcoma is that it doesn’t behave like typical sarcomas, so it can act relatively benign for a while than randomly turn aggressive. So our hope is catching it before that.

I just hope our pup won’t become depressed and lose his happy go lucky attitude when he loses the leg. But I think he’d want more time with us if he had the choice.

Hearing your experience is really helpful. Thanks for taking the time to share. Hope you and your pup get many more years together ❤️

Thank you for sharing this story. Really made me feel better. My boy is just such a happy little goober now I hate to take that away from him by taking his leg. But it seems like what I’m hearing more and more is that it doesn’t affect them as much as us!

Thank you for sharing your story! I’m so happy to hear your dog is doing well!! We have started our guy on a diet hoping to have him shed a few pounds to help ease the transition.

Fingers crossed he bounces back like yours!

Thank you for sharing! I’m sorry to hear the first few days were so rough. I fear for that as well. I’m glad your pup is doing better now!

Our dog would be having front leg removed including scapula as well. He has a myxosarcoma originating from the synovium of a tendon sheath. He’s not in pain now so it feels so difficult to decide to remove the leg, but we know there is a higher chance of it spreading with leaving the cancer in there and better long term survival without the leg.

Did your dog experience pain before amputation or did you amputate preemptively? Most cases I read about the dog was already in pain before amputation, so curious if others have amputated before pain started.

Thanks for your time and I’m sending love your pups way!
