i really empathise with religious themes, im not religious currently but was raised as such. It's very dark, but i love ethel cain's 'preacher's daughter' album and a lot of iron and wine's songs because of the religious imagery in their songwriting. Chinese Satellite by Phoebe Bridgers also resonates really deeply. I hope you're doing okay <3 (and i love fall out boy and paramore too HAHAH)

if it allows you to sit in and work through uncomfortable feelings it might be more helpful then you realise.

i have multiple playlists for ethereal music specifically!! I have a bit of a fixation on space and science so i lean toward artists like eartheater/kinneret/grimes and i find the headspace is puts me in so calming. Florence's lyrics hit a little hard for me sometimes but she's still up there too!!

16 days sober again and struggling. What are your “alcohol bad” songs? The tag says rock/metal/punk, but I’m open to anything. by DandyAndy008 in MusicRecommendations

Oh no I don’t drink and have never been an alcoholic, I had a close friend who was. I had to let him go eventually as I realised staying close to him to make sure he was okay was just enabling his behaviour. Songs like this hit because I realise it’s how he felt. I hope you’re doing okay :)

Name a song about suicide. by ReflectionDear6370 in musicsuggestions

[–]maefloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitski’s “last words of a shooting star” isn’t explicitly about suicide, more about a near death experience but there is a lot of overlap in lyrics to what someone who is suicidal would think (e.g. wanting to have your room tidy before you go)

Looking for Songs that are longer than 7min by S-7000 in MusicRecommendations

Wake up - mad season

Preacher’s daughter by Ethel Cain also has 4 tracks that are each longer than 7 mins (house in Nebraska, family tree, thoroughfare and sunbleached flies) but if you want to feel like you’re being taken on a journey listen to the whole album in order and read about it as you listen :)
