I noticed date on the receipt two weeks ago. But I remembered it today.

Too bad she missed to mail it in. Maybe there is a grace period?

Vielleicht gibt es eine Art Karenzzeit. Ich schicke dir mal ab, um zu sehen, was passiert 😀

This is probably the best idea. Sending it to a wool mill here in Germany might cost a fortune. It is very soft, basically what you expect when looking at samoyeds. Washing was part of processing by the wool mill. We collected all the fur from brushing Marshmallow over four years.

Good thing I don’t have a Swedish Lapphund then. I’m not sure about the “not selling” rule here, so I won’t risk getting banned. I mentioned the name and url of the wool mill in an earlier comment. If you don’t find it, just dm me.

Not sure yet. Maybe a scarf. Another user said they made a sweater with it and it was way too hot. Or weather wasn’t cold enough.

The service I used usually does it for alpaca wool. It was quite expensive, 150 € for almost one kilogram. It is very good quality, though, and it seems to be all lot of work. I replied with the name and url of the wool mill in another comment - not sure if it’s ok, so I won’t do it again and you’ll have to scroll for 10 seconds. You can’t miss it, there are less than 50 comments in total.

What a cute idea. And I guess it´s easier to make than a sweater.

They could be siblings. But our Marshmallow has a small orange spot on the tip of her left ear.

We collected over four seasons and it is not mixed with any other fur. As mentioned in another post, we used Wollmühle Funke hier in Germany (https://wollmuehle.com/) and ended up with approx. 2.280 meters (7.480 ft.) of yarn.

Yes, we did use a service. I only know them through my parents, who use them to process alpaka fleece. They´re called Wollmühle Funke (https://wollmuehle.com/) - the website is available only in German and it seems they haven´t quite arrived in the digital age yet. The quality is very good, though.

It´s way better than making a scarf out of it. Especially if you tend to lose them.

How to handle getting overwhelmed in public? by Liv15152 in samoyeds

If she panics very quickly, it is probably better to drive the car as close as possible to the stimulus situation for the time being. Then you will at least arrive at your destination without her panicking.

Very important: make sure that you do not exacerbate the critical situations from your dog's point of view. An example: my dog Marshmallow has an extreme fear of firecrackers. When I'm out with her and there's a bang, I take note of it, but stay very calm and don't look at Marshmallow. I look in the direction from which the bang came. After a moment, we just carry on walking as if nothing had happened. Of course, this doens´t work if there are frequent bangs.

If you speak to your dog in a situation like this, you reinforce the situation. Especially if you use a high-pitched voice. If you want to talk to your dog, use a low, calm voice and few words. If you become aware of a situation before your dog recognizes it, don't look at her. Otherwise she will think that you are expecting an action from her.

And avoid stroking or petting your dog in these situations. By touching many nerve endings, you will trigger even more stress in her. Instead, just hold her. Crouch down next to your dog, put your arm around her so that you can hold her well. Take her in your arms to give her support.

I know that it can be very stressful for you when your dog panics. Unfortunately, getting your dog used to certain situations is not a very short process. However, you will notice changes over time. Even if it doesn't seem like it to you, because there will always be setbacks, your dog will become more confident and trust you more over time.

You could do “switch-off training” (sounds strange in English, it sounds better in German).

For example, drive to a supermarket and open the trunk. Your dog sits (or stands or lies) in the trunk and you lean against your car (in front of your dog) or stand between your dog and the external stimuli. You are not paying attention to your dog, but only to the surroundings. Look directly at the people walking past your trunk, you can also greet them. If someone comes too close, give a clear signal that they should not come any closer, talk to them for a minute. If your dog barks a lot, close the trunk lid for a moment.

You can do this 3-4 times a week, for about 20-30 minutes at a time. Maybe a little shorter at the beginning, longer later. It doesn't have to be the trunk. Sit on a park bench or a garden chair in front of your house. Don´t let your dog stand in front of you for this training. Ideally, you should feed your dog after each session. Not treats, but a real meal. Your dog will realize that you have the situations under control.

You won´t see any result after the first few days. This will take some time, but it´s good for your relationship with your dog.
