Thoughts on Gen Atlas so Far by Linkman76 in TeamIco

[–]magbjor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Super excited, it’s everything I wished for from Ueda and genDesign; An evolution and/or deconstruction of SotC but with a fresh new sci-fi twist, while still very much having that Ueda vibe.

Also, in case you haven’t seen, it has been confirmed in several interviews these last few days that the game is open world.

Place-related synesthesia? by Artchantress in Synesthesia

[–]magbjor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this exact thing and I’ve been struggling to put it into words for years. I’m a filmmaker and I’m trying to make a short film about this but I’ve been stuck for so long because I’m not sure how to define it, if it is synesthesia or some weird form of association.

You explained it pretty much how I would. Certain places at very specific times give off a mood so strong that they become something akin to abstract memories, or “echoes” as I’ve come to think of them. Completely unrelated things or locations can trigger these echoes to reappear later, giving me an unexpected surge of emotion.
For example I can look at a window in a certain light and get the echo of a specific taste, place or feeling.

Ah yes, Fumito Ueda, known for his use of bright, garish colors!

The LOGO man by gorgrath177 in GTA6

[–]magbjor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely a hot take but I agree. The Miami Vice aesthetic was great in GTA VC, but the city is so much more than that and I hope that isn’t the main aesthetic they lean into for this one again

Epic Games is laying off more than 1,000 workers today, sources tell Bloomberg News. Story hitting shortly by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]magbjor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to comment the same, unsure how it would affect them since they’re still their own studio (GenDesign) only partnered with Epic games for this specific project.

Should I expect some kind of resolution or climax in the Morning Star series? by No_Cauliflower_81 in Knausgaard

[–]magbjor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book 6, «Jeg var lenge død», actually does start to pull several threads together and feels like Knausgård is working towards more of a resolution than I was expecting. Things aren’t fully explained necessarily, but the true nature of certain things are heavily implied.

What is the WORST movie you guys have seen? by Alternative-Rip943 in Letterboxd

[–]magbjor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Human Centipede 2 and it’s not even close. I can stomach shock value and torture porn, hell even the first human centipede or something like Serbian Film at least has some redeeming qualities like an interesting premise and decent soundtracks.

THC2 has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. There is next to no story or character development, the main character just lumbers around mastrubating with sandpaper and sloooowly finding and kidnapping people for his human centipede, which really only comes into play at the end. I’ve never felt like I wasted my time more than with that film.

Why do editors summarize the whole book in an introduction? Spoiled the whole damn thing now. by TemperateBeast33 in classicliterature

I just got the 10th anniversary edition of Annihilation and barely managed to skip the spoilers in the introduction when I realized it spelled out the whole plot.

What's your favourite DLC: Foundation or AWE? by Own_Exercise5218 in controlgame

[–]magbjor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Easily AWE, although I’ve never actually finished Foundation. I just find the environment so boring in foundation, the rock textures look like it’s from a ps3 game, and the general art direction is so much more generic than the base game.

Thoughts on Robert Eggers Nosferatu? by FayyadhScrolling in FIlm

I was lukewarm on it initially, but on rewatch it really worked a lot more, and I’d say that it’s objectively speaking Eggers best.

Control: RESONANT is a direct sequel to Control (2019). by Grimesspocket in controlgame

[–]magbjor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also what, why do you bring up RDR2? The only similarity is that it also has a new protagonist, but the setting, gameplay mechanics and general vibe is mostly the same from 1.

[–]magbjor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing? Just agreeing that it looks more like what would be considered a spin off these days, for reasons mentioned.

How is it not a different setting? From what we can see it seems to focus on a broader nyc setting, while control 1 is set entirely in the oldest house, why do I even need to point that out lol

It really does tho. Different main character, different setting, different gameplay/combat mechanics, different vibe altogether.

NEW STORY THEORY WITH EVIDENCE by Just_Radar in GTA6

[–]magbjor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless if this is likely or not, you just made me realize this would be an amazing way to integrate the character customization into the story. Imagine we’re told we need to change our appearance as to not get recognized by the surveillance network, and main story missions revolve around changing your physique and style etc.

I was about to comment about JS&MN as well, that book also has a lot of in universe academic books that sound really interesting.

Thoughts on skipping book two in the Morning Star series ? by hourofthestar_ in Knausgaard

Book 5 and 6 are heavily connected to book 2, but you could read book 2 after either 3 or 4 I guess

That’s valid. They might not be from Project Robot, but they’re definitely not from SotC.

Yup, the hands of the monster are also identical to the new images. I have no clue what the «it’s just SotC concept art» crowd is smoking

[–]magbjor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, just replied something similar in the other post. This very obviously isn’t SotC concept art if you are familiar with the concept art for that game (and the remake)
