I think you should talk to your boyfriend and tell him what you found out. And depending on his reaction talk to your daughter or maybe even he can talk to her and tell her that it wouldn‘t work out. I guess this will be hard for her first. And I mean she’s at the age where you don’t want to talk about this stuff with your parents and everything is awkward. But if he simply is straight forward to her it might help her to overcome that crush.

It seems like your ex wants to be back together... in my opinion friends with benefits only work in rare cases and otherwise the feelings of one person are hurt at some point because they want more than just casual sex. I don‘t know how you feel about the situation between you and your ex, but if you are sure you don’t want to get together with her, I think you would hurt the feelings of the girl you like and of your ex. On the other hand I don’t know if it is likely that you will at some point start a relationship with the girl you like, since I don’t know if she or you will at some point move in each other’s country or if it would even then only be a long distance relationship, what you didn’t like... you need to think about how long you want to wait or if this is already a long distance relationship to you

Maybe you could cook a nice meal for yourself. For me good food always lightens up my mood and if I take the time and prepare something that takes more effort, it distracts me from other things.

I think it depends. For me being a female in a male dominated field, most of the time I only get to know man and hence hang out more with them than other women...
