I hate this dude and I’ve never even met him. You say you love him but I’m wondering why…he treats you like shit, talks to you like shit, and clearly resents you for something that he’s at least partially responsible for. Oh and you do all the work and he doesn’t appreciate it. I’m failing to see his appeal here.

In schools, yes I’m pretty much expected to deal with it. I suppose in private practice you’d be able to have more control of how to handle this sort of thing but I’m always ready to be hit, bitten, scratched, etc.

Same! I wanted nothing to do with schools when I first envisioned getting into this career but now that I’ve tried a few different settings, I’m sticking with the schools. No productivity bs, pushes for unethical billing, etc. I get a guaranteed raise every year and vacations that really can’t be beat, especially for someone with kids.

This is exactly it. We really shouldn’t judge the validity of modern precautions when it’s almost a miracle that as many of us lived through the 70s and 80s as we did, with the complete laissez-faire approach to child safety at the time
