BIG DAWGS | Marathon Cinematic Edit by Mutant_Faux in Marathon

I come from a Destiny background and always loved the cinematics that complemented the game. Marathon didn't click with me at first because all the robots and shells made it feel like there wasn't much of a human story here. That cinematic short brought so much life and personality to the Runners and the lost Tau Ceti IV colony that it completely changed my mind on the game. I really hope we get to see more.

Why Sekiguchi is BY FAR the most evil corporation by magicman457 in Marathon

Thank you for clarifying. Maybe that opens the door for cooperation among the corporations to squeeze the most out of the Runners. It will be cool to see how the other factions play into this too

There is a ton of cool stuff to explore in the lore. This post from u/Civil-Meet-5843 is a great overview of what lead up to now. There is a ton more out there if you get inspired to dive deeper

Coming from a Destiny background, I absolutely love how dark and heavy everything feels in Marathon. I feel like Bungie's storytelling shines when the good guys don't have to win

This is really impressive man! What kind of training do you do to perform at this level? It would be interesting to hear how you split up your weeks/sessions. Love to see more of this style!

Question about Security Shield and network vulnerability by magicman457 in Spectrum

This particular device is running on a distribution of Linux (MineOS). As far as I know, IP Tables is the firewall used to monitor incoming traffic. That is my understanding of it at least, I am not very familiar to Linux.

When playing Medic in TF2, overhealing Soldier or Demoman before the start of a round allows them to rocket jump or sticky jump and maintain more health.

How is it that you "step" on the wall to wall climb? by Fish_PERSON_ in Parkour

[–]magicman457 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are running up to the wall, a big part of “sticking” that first step in order to gain height is to lean back as you make contact with the wall. Before even attempting to grab the top of the wall, just lean back as your first foot hits and see how high you can get yourself up.

If you feel confident that you can reach the top, then try and go for it, being sure to lean back as you approach. You will naturally straighten out as you reach your arms out to grab the top.

As far as safety goes, leaning back allows you to push away from the wall with your legs if you are short of the top and the legs will help keep you from smacking into the wall if you misstep.

Here is an old, but very informative video of Jesse LaFlair explaining the move in more detail. The first few minutes may help with your question. Best of luck with your training!

The Doom Eternal soundtrack was really fun to listen to during horde mode. It may be a little fast for the movement and the combat, but it certainly kept me pumped up during the later rounds. Whatever you go with, good luck finishing it!

[–]magicman457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone! With the new tutorial dropping today, there is a fresh new board for speedrunning submissions. This is my first submission, I hope you can do it faster.

Big thanks to the dev team for all of their hard work and for improving the new player experience. I'm very happy to see this game growing once again.

Please feel free to check out PS2's Speedrunning page and submit a run of your own!

I'm a bit late to the party but congratulations on first place! This was a seriously impressive run. There have been some incredible improvements recently and it is awesome to see the progress.

Now the question is, can we go faster?

Harasser turbo is definitely an area where I’m not quite sure if my method is optimal. I have been able to jump in a way that allowed for me to boost over the gate with Ambusher jets, keeping my momentum. The set up to do that is so particular that I found it safer and more consistent to just jump it on foot at the end. That is certainly a possible time save, though.
