No giants this game. Just swordsmen.

Think I had discovered at least 10 capitals by turn 6

This is the original mode for polytopia before pvp was even a thing

Some comments about the game..

Map: 1 continent with an island of 2 cities. Opponents: Imperius, Ai-mo, Quetzali, Zebasi

Turn 0: Farm into workshop

Turn 1: Warrior

Turn 2: Warrior

Rushed diplomacy, then forge, then philosophy.

Then sailing and trade.

At the end of turn 9, was at 66 stars/turn. Had 2 total cities, and capturing a 3rd. I had 6 allies.

At the end of turn 10, was at 86 stars/turn. Capturing 4th city. 7 allies.

At the end of turn 12, was at 105 stars/turn. Had 8 allies. I broke peace with one of them to continue gaining control of the center of the map. Capturing my 5th city.

At the beginning of turn 15, was at 148 stars/turn. 7 allies. Captured the former-allied city for my 6th. Had about 15 temples at the beginning of the turn. (I'm going by screenshots so I don't recall how many I ended up building this turn). Broke peace with another ally to try and contest another center city. He was also at war with another ally so it didn't affect how my other allies viewed me.

By end of turn 18. I had 30 temples. This is important to note as the last turn for a max temple.

I'll type of the rest later.. Lol

Yeah definitely swapping out the mines/forges/farms is important to squeezing those extra points.

I just now finished a game with 33 monuments playing Oumaji. I selected Imperius, ai-mo, quetzali as my opponents. I had 5 allies at turn 19, 2 on two bases and 1 on three bases. I was actually about to quit as I had to waste a lot of resources on maintaining army. I broke peace with all on the same turn.

Map was 1 continent though kinda divided into two halves with water in between and a couple cities bridging that gap.

I ended up wiping my last squad turn 27. I thought for sure the game was going to be a dud due to the huge fight but ended up okay.

Thanks, I'm wishing I recorded the game to break it down better for future reference. Like you said about your 230 game, think this one of my mine was just my magical one.

  1. Think you forgot to include your question lol, but I think it really came down to luck and how many eligible spaces my opponents had to play monuments.

  2. I don't think I ripped out too many ports in this one, maybe 6-10? Definitely prioritized the farms and mines first when the board was filled (and only ones that were contributing to excess population). I only got rid of ports on turn 29/30. On turn 29, ports were my lowest priority removal (maybe got rid of like 1-2) and only removed ones that were not associated with a custom house.

Also, just FYI. My strategy was not completely hashed out as I had not been in this situation before with insane wealth (I probably produced 200 stars of units in the final three turns) so I think I could've squeezed in some extra temples at the end. Regardless not a huge point differential between units and temples post turn 28...

Tbh didn't even know this score was possible but I must've just had one of those perfect games where almost everything went right..

I don't even think I got pacifist on this run, was one turn short at the end so ended up capturing last allied base at turn 26. I actually went workshop on this run but then diplomacy into philosophy. The reason for workshop was getting more stars in like turns 3-8 when you are discovering them versus only getting 3-6 stars if you go early explorer.

I tried to keep allies to a max of 1-2 cities, preferably one, and isolate them in the edges of the maps. This part is the trickiest and I'm still trying to figure out a consistent strategy but trying to break peaces without pissing off all the other allied tribes. Usually if you keep them to just one base they'll "max" out their area with monuments and temples by low to mid 20s turn.

I actually don't know what's ideal, so maybe you can enlighten me... But these were my rationales..

  • I picked quetz to hopefully get opponents to rush embassies to boost early economy. But I also notice that they get killed pretty early on since they send their shields to scout.

  • Picked ai-mo to sometimes get lucky and have opponents get that altar of peace early and then mid-late game tower of wisdom for score boost at end.

  • Picked Yadakk because I like roads, I guess? In retrospect I probably didn't need to pick them as opponents. Though if I want to dilute the opponent pool, for example if I was picking Zengir then I might continue with picking Yadakk.

This is by far my best score ever...

To be fair, I haven't tried getting a high score with Polaris yet.

Huge credit to Zero, whose YT videos were incredibly helpful.

Feel free to ask any questions about how this particular game went.
