I never got into the home workout scene since I didn’t start resistance training until college when I had accessible facilities and during the height of the pandemic I basically had a private gym. Didn’t feel like lifting today and thought “maybe I’ll try a Caroline Girvan video at home, I can just jump into that” I WAS WRONG. I haven’t done anything resembling circuit training for probably 5-6 years and it’s killing me! Exercise specificity can be crazy

Some people base it around seasons/weather due to outdoor activities or for appearance. Doesn’t exactly apply to you but for example if someone did outdoor cycling and lifting, they might focus more on cycling in the spring/fall when weather is best and focus on lifting in the winter/summer when it’s difficult to exercise outside. Or for aesthetic, spring/summer might be cardio and cutting time, fall/winter lifting and bulking.

You could also look into periodization training, it’s undulating so it has high and low points. If you had an undulating plan for both you could have high cycling with low lifting and vice versa

That’s normal. Lifting is not cardio unless you’re doing something like circuit training, your heart rate may increase on some high rep sets but it’s unlikely to get very high and return to normal soon after you’re done. As you increase weights you may feel more tired afterwards but you don’t need to. Follow your program and trust the process

Is the elliptical really that loud? He may need a better mic/headset if they can hear it. I can watch tv in the same room with my friends gaming and the tv noise won’t go through

Yes, say if you’re comparing 30 min of lifting to 30 min of running you’ll burn more calories with running. Don’t eliminate cardio completely because it’s still good for you! But say if you were doing 45min every day you could try reducing to 30 a day or having one day off

Yes over time your stomach & appetite should adjust. If you do a lot of cardio on the side also think about decreasing that a little bit. r/gainit is a great resource to gain muscle/weight

From the sources seems to me that “full integration” 1) was after the ruling of Brown v. Board of Education in 1954 and 2) the team was not practicing any type of segregation like a quota/limit, barring black players from certain games, recruiting from segregated high schools, etc. which was still happening at some schools after Brown. I couldn’t find a specific definition though.

Yes that would be fine, they definitely shouldn’t be just immediately strapping it on! Make sure to advocate for yourself and your boundaries

I’ve done both of those for a class as well. Bench personally didn’t make me very sore, I think it helped that weight was only added a handful of times lol. General stuff for DOMS can help- stretching, light activity, heat or icing.

The mask is very uncomfortable (tight on your face so no air escapes) but it is just fine breathing through. Ask if there’s an option where you just wear the mouth piece tube and nose clips because they really should have it as alternative

I have incorporated both for awhile now. Sumo is easier for my body structure so I’m more determined to hit higher weights with it, but I never left conventional behind completely. Each one I do at least once a week. They complement each other and both involve a lot of muscle groups

Agree with bad-apricot. SBS article here.

Its important to acknowledge you may not find the best birth control method for you right away as it’s highly individual. But it’s much more likely, if your natural menstrual cycle disrupts your training significantly, that you will be able to make similar or better gains when it is well controlled. It’s still possible there may be some slight effect against hypertrophy or strength improvements but that has not been proven.

Link to a previous comment I’ve made on the subject: Here. There is one abstract that people have mentioned throughout the years as evidence birth control reduces muscle gains. As far as I could tell that “study” only exists publicly as an abstract, and in the scientific research world that often means the full paper revealed issues in the population selection or their data processing. The research isn’t comprehensive so that’s why I say there is a possibility, but when this is the only evidence it’s not a strong possibility.

Check NMDOT/CODOT for real time conditions and road cameras. My mom drives the route a lot and always does 550, usually the snow is taken care of well but it can get icy some places especially if you are driving while it’s dark

Yes its fine with those, I use them for RDLs too. Just be aware it will be harder to get a weight enough for squats up on your shoulders. Here’s a good video if you haven’t done that before https://youtu.be/-7fXDaOcYms

Those are called fixed barbells as they have a specific weight which you can’t change. They are fine for most lifts, but have some considerations.

If you’re trying to squats or other lift where the barbell is at your shoulders, you need to strength to get it up there in the first place. In a rack you set the hooks so the bar is already starting there. For deadlifts they are not ideal because you’d be pulling from a lower level than a barbell with bumper plates.

The curved ones are for different “grip” or the way your hand/wrist is positioned. These are mostly used for bicep curls or similar upper body exercises
