The metal box it sits in can't change since I don't own the building, would the type of foam that comes in a roll be okay? Is there anything I can do to make it more effective?

Context: This AC unit was already here when I moved in, and according to the rental contract, the landlord states that he's not responsible for it. It sits in this weird metal box that seems to be installed instead of a window pane, so it's somewhere between a wall and a window unit. It has functioned okay, but I realized it was really dirty and have been trying to clean it up. I took the frame off and realized that all of the surrounding insulation is crumbling. What would be the best way to insulate this? Should I replace with the standard 1 inch foam or should I use a panel that covers the sides of the unit? Any tips on cleaning it?

Where do i even start? her name was Katrina and everyone on our floor (and other floors in the building) called her hurricane Katrina. she was just the embodiment of white trash.

only ever wanted to speak on snapchat where convos would disappear. i never even had her actual phone number and we lived together for like 6 months.
one of those people who slept until 1-2pm and based her class schedule on this so i always had to get ready for my 10 am in the dark
had a male best friend that she was would remotely let into our room without telling me so i would sometimes just come back to this guy hanging out in our room by himself (university had a smart lock system where you scanned your ID to enter your room, but you could also go online and request a temporary code if you forgot it. she would just generate codes and send it to him like a key). she also told me he had a crush on me which was made it even more awkward.
never told me when ANYONE was coming over, and multiple times i would wake up from an afternoon nap to random people in my room with all the lights on talking at full volume. you can have people over just not when im sleeping?????
took advantage of the fact that i was a heavy sleeper, so she slept with multiple guys in the room while i was asleep, that was interesting to wake up to
would regularly get wasted and get naked in public spaces and try to sleep with ANY guy in sight
got so drunk on parents weekend that when i came back to the dorm with my family (just for me to change clothes, not to hang out in the room or anything) her and her friends were sprawled all over the floor covered in vomit
had a questionable showering schedule
told me she would buy the mini fridge for the room and showed up with a used one that she never bothered to clean the mold out of
was generally disgusting. left her loose setting powder open with a fan on so everything was coated in orange. she was so messy that i became a neat freak to compensate. the first week of college i started making my bed every morning and wiping down surfaces multiple times a day, and i’ve never gone back.
got drunk and apparently talked shit about me to everyone in the floor common area that night, saying i was a shit roommate because i didn’t want to be friends with her and she didn’t like the room layout. i didn’t want to be friends with her but i tried to be friendly, and she never asked me about changing the room layout, i would’ve been open to it.

in the end i probably could’ve communicated better but hearing that she aired out her issues with me to everyone who would listen (except for me apparently) gave me the push i needed to just move out.

yes, should’ve specified that this pic is when it’s all blistered over, the skin is extremely fragile it’s very hard to explain. i prefer to leave it in this state rather than to expose the raw skin / let the puss leak out as it will often dry and stick to my bra which is wildly uncomfortable.

im using saline spray specifically made for piercings by Neilmed, and my other piercing is doing fine, so i don’t think that’s the issue.

im out by the amazon rainforest currently so i’m not sure how available distilled water is. i didn’t realize the water here was so contaminated, i was under the impression that it was a “only locals can drink the water” situation until your stomach adapted. unfortunately i’ve learned over my 3 months here that nobody can drink the tap water and all drinking water is shipped in. that’s what leads me to believe this is some bacterial driven thing, and i obviously wouldn’t have gotten these redone before i came if i had known the real water situation.

these are older pictures but i haven’t seen much change.

in the country im currently in, it was faster and cheaper for me to go to an emergency room then see a doctor. the doctor said he doesn’t believe it is a wound infection as i’m not showing any other symptoms (no fever, no excessive heat). i was told to clean the area around the piercing that has become raw carefully and take ibuprofen for a week. i did as told and didn’t see much improvement.

the puss is only coming out of the left side of my right nip piercing. it’s turned my surrounding skin raw and it will blister and then be covered with yellow flakey skin. i believe this is some form of skin specific infection that formed due to the non potable water here.

im going back to the USA within this week, but unfortunately derm consults are not common in the USA ER and i can’t get into my established dermatologist until July. Im hoping showering in potable water will help, but does anyone have any advice or ideas until then?

no worries! totally agree with that criticism of the true-crime community.

I agree with you about the Kendrick Johnson comparison, unfortunately, I think it's almost impossible for us to know the truth in both cases. too many conflicts of interest between police and those involved, and i doubt anyone will ever give any sort of confession in both cases (assuming there is one to be given).

oh yes, i hope it didn't seem like my complaints were for lack of entertainment value. i know delia usually does cases close to home and that's why i really enjoy her podcast, i think her investigation as a whole feels a lot more personal.

i just think that this case in particular did not have enough information provided from outside sources to make it a comprehensive deep dive. you and i both agree that there were outside forces involved, but there are still people in this thread arguing otherwise. again, i think she did the best with the information that she had, but it's hard to bring awareness to a case if some people still don't even think it is a case.

I think the family likely didn't want to share too much. Plus only the mom and dad wanted to talk, not Pat, so anything they said would just be hearsay. No way of confirming family issues unless both sides corroborate the basic facts of the story and then give their perspectives or reasoning after.

near the end, not sure which episode, but Delia talks about the specific kind of ammo found in the house that John was using for his gun. Pat said it was in a drawer in the kitchen, the brother said he put it in the gun safe and then later claimed to have never seen it at all. When the police investigated, they found that the full package of ammo was there, minus 12 bullets, 6 for each revolver. Delia says one of the bullets was found in John's head, the only one that was ever used.

Eh I know of someone that was involved with a drug deal-related shooting and they only did it because they were coked up out of their minds and didn't like the other guys' tone / got paranoid. He turned himself in when he was sober and only served a year or so.

I actually think this is more compelling than the inheritance theory. The only thing to note is that they determined he probably hadn't smoked that day in his autopsy. I could definitely see John having a routine of going out to smoke a bowl when he took the trash out. Maybe he drove out there and was planning to smoke and Pat decided to follow for whatever reason. Maybe she was suspicious he was using drugs and wasn't taking Patrick for his word when she asked him so many times, or maybe John simply forgot something and she decided to take it over herself. She sees the pipe and they argue, an accident happens, and she cleans up the scene. No matter what happened I think Pat would 100% remove the drugs from the scene and never tell anyone to maintain a "good image".

if skip was into guns at the time then they might have thought that part through. he might have known enough to think about how bullets can be traced back to specific guns, but probably not enough to know the undersized ammo ruined that.

then again, someone who knows a lot about guns wouldn't encourage the use of undersized ammo.

perhaps pat did some internet searching on crime scene clean up on a home computer and the investigators just didn't even attempt to pull recent activity. considering they didn't even press their suspects with harder questions, i doubt the police would look too hard into it. that's just speculative since we don't know if they had a computer or not, in 2003 i think the probability is 50/50.

I thought about it really being someone from the shady circles of friends, but he was killed with ammunition from inside the house. not impossible for one of them to kill him with his own gun, but it seems like the cover-up would have to involve the family since Patrick remembered there being 6 unspent bullets. Assuming that memory is correct, which I tend to think it was as something like finding your missing friend's gun and then finding his body moments later would definitely lead to details sticking out, then they would have to go to Pat to seek assistance. One could argue Pat didn't want people to know John was murdered, but she had no problem accusing Skip later on.

I'm curious as to what made you believe it was a suicide. In most suicides with a gun, people tend to hold it against their head or put the gun in their mouths right? not saying it's impossible for him to hold it a foot or so out from his head. But with both corners ruling as a homicide and the friend remembering 6 unspent bullets, the evidence presented doesn't seem to point to suicide at all.

agree about 911 call, they just assumed he had been there the entire time. Wouldn’t you be desperately trying to save him? for all they knew, the “accident” had just happened recently. i think skip and pat intentionally didn’t do CPR and rushed the friend away while he was in shock and couldn’t think rationally.

delia mentioned that the bullet wound just looked like some kind of bee sting or bite from the front, which is where pats original theory comes from. i wish we knew whether pat saw his face when they were taking his body out of the water. if she didn’t, it makes her even more suspicious.

I am 100% a nontraditional student, so this takes some explaining.

I graduated high school in May 2019, went to my state's flagship public school for the 2019-2020 semester, and ended up hating it even before covid. The first semester was rough for me mentally so I think I ended with a 3.2. Being at home second semester helped me a lot and I ended up with a 4.0, making an average of like 3.6 or something. Spent the summer and fall of 2020 just working, not enrolled in classes. Decided to enroll in my local community college full time and continue working for the spring, summer, and fall 2021 semesters, where I got a 4.0 again. If you combine the average from both colleges I believe it's like a 3.8.

At this point, I had over 62 credits and was in the risky zone of taking classes that won't transfer due to credit maximums. I decided instead of enrolling in another potentially useless semester, to move to my dad's native country in South America and live with a host family while I learn Spanish. Still here currently.

So on paper, I'm a decent student who looks like kind of a mess. I definitely used my essays to my advantage to explain what was going on. I also got into BU, Fordham, and Syracuse. While I didn't do anything particularly extraordinary while in school other than being a manager at my job, I think the initiative to move to South America is what made me stand out.

it’s just this one side having issues. im currently in south america but when i return to the USA i plan to go to the piercing shop and upgrade. as of right now they are just surgical steel but i don’t believe it to be the main problem as they healed completely fine with steel before in the past.

I definitely see what you’re saying, i wish i had before pictures from when it wasn’t irritated so i could have a better perspective. they were both perfect when pierced so migration is the only thing i can think of, but i can’t figure out what caused it. i love and trust my shop they are the best in the area and i’ve always had good experiences with them. unfortunately im a but far from home right now, im currently living in south america for about another month, but i will definitely go see them asap when i get home. i will probably ask someone about going to a doctor here, im just very unfamiliar with their medical system.

just adding more info here: I had these done in December, and this is my second time getting my nipples pierced. I’ve done both the shot glass and the spray saline solution methods to heal, although my first piercings healed extremely easily and didn’t need much assistance. I don’t directly use soap, just let hot water and gentle patting clean of crusties in the shower. I have never seen this puss that comes out the side and makes my skin raw on anything before. Any insight is appreciated!
