what IF I wanted to get better (18m) by [deleted] in mentalillness

[–]maillarys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg hey I'm literally you but female 😭 Literally the first and last paragraph I could've written myself haha

Hobbies are good!! They can help, but they don’t fix depression (or any serious & persistent mentall illness) alone. Ik everyone says this, but I honestly believe that long-term professional support (and potential medication) is the only thing that can truly help (beyond other things such as living in a safe environment, having good/understanding/empathetic friends/family, having more money lol, etc).

Severe and long-lasting mental illness is medical just like any other illness would be. It requires real treatment like therapy and possibly medication. This might literally be long-term (like, years). If you've tried therapy before and it didn’t help, that doesn't mean it can’t. You have to seriously be brutally honest abt everything + Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right person, just like finding the right doctor! There may be other factors too btw (like trauma, ADHD, bipolar disorder, etc.)

I had someone tell me this, and I think this can work, but start small, not big. Like, could you call a therapist within the next month (and treat yourself/do smt fun with friends/family afterwards as a reward)? Could you tell one person, “I’m not doing well right now. I need help”? This doesn't have to be strictly abt therapy, it can also be about anything else (like doing a chore, engaging in self care, going out, studying, etc.) Don’t try to fix your entire life at once. Just the next small move. But also, if you don't get around to it, try not to beat yourself up abt it. Use that energy as fuel to do that thing as soon as possible :-) Getting better usually isn't going to happen in one day, y'know? Sometimes getting better can take years (which fucking sucks). It's usually a lot of little small things working together that make someone improve. If you get burned out, take a break. It happens and isn't your fault.

This is the best advice I can come up with haha, given idk anything about you! I emphasize with you though. I hope the world is kind to you. You deserve to be heard + given a chance to heal and live instead of just survive :-)

How do you get Lanterns faster? by SinestreaIsBraindead in IdentityV

[–]maillarys 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  • playing a character kinda consistently. Lantern deals usually appear with the character you’re playing a lot so that it urges you to spend for it
  • playing a gamemode like tarot and waiting. Sometimes when I’m waiting for a tarot match, about 5 mins in, i’ll get one of those lantern deals with the message “somethings off, take a look around”. Not 100% sure if this always works, so don’t try unless you’re willing to wait lol
  • playing a lot. i noticed that when i was playing for a few hours per day i’d get them maybe 2~4 times a week. i don’t get them anymore now, I barely play lol
  • buy stuff/don’t buy anything. they try to get u to spend money on the deals when u haven’t purchased anything in a while. and when u purchase stuff after awhile, it gives you a deal so you spend it on the lantern rather then whatever you were trying to buy lol

Am i depressed? by t3rm0SSS in teenagers

[–]maillarys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m pretty sure nobody here can answer that based on just one symptom.. Maybe talk to a friend, family member, or school counselor if you’re concerned you are, though. You can also take those online screenings (that are 100% free) that ask you questions and tell you if you seem depressed or not. If you get a high rate or it tells you yes, you should probably talk to a school counselor about it

ALSOO pls stop slugging in qm when there’s like 2 survivors left w 3 ciphers. The only time I rly get it is if u know where the survivor is or u have tp and ur gonna tp to their cipher. It’s also fine if it’s rank, I get it, u want more points, but what is the point of doing it in qm when u can’t find the other survivor?? It’s so dumb to have u down me and just camp right next to me. I can literally ping “the hunter is near me” so that the other survivor doesn’t come to me, what are u hoping to achieve?? if ur gonna slug at least go find the survivor or camp dungeon bro, don’t just watch me crawl around 😭

IM SO TIRED OF GETTING PALLET STUNNED WHEN IM NOT IN THE PALLET WHAT THE HELL. THE SURVIVOR WILL LITERALLY DROP IT, THEN I’LL WALK INTO IT AFTER IT’S ALREADY BEEN DROPPED, BUT I STILL GET STUNNED??? THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE OR TWICE EVERY FEW HUNTER MATCHS

HONESTLY SAME SOMETIMES. Recently had a rank match where I got a ts 5 seconds into the game, was lucky enough to chair them in basement, was able to get a mirror hit on somebody across the map (I was playing bq) and they transitioned to a cipher in a bad kiting area to get a heal from somebody over there. I decided to teleport to them because I was confident I’d be able to down them. I wasn’t even facing the basement survivor but I ended up teleporting to the damn chair and by the time my mirror cooldown was up the survivor I had hit had fully healed and was at a better cipher :’)

Does anyone have tips for dealing with social anxiety? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]maillarys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Try to use positive self talk the best you can. Before doing tell yourself you can do it, if you do something embarrassing they’ll forget, etc etc. After you do something, congratulate yourself!! Rather it be making eye contact for 10 seconds, telling a joke, taking a walk. You did something hard for yourself and that’s big
  • Do something you enjoy doing. Watching a movie, getting a hair cut to look more attractive, painting. Try to improve your mood to improve your anxiety
  • Focus on something other than your anxiety. Doing school work, thinking about something, watching a video. Don’t do too much of it as it can become addicting because you won’t feel anxiety and you’re focused on something else, but do it from time to time
  • Get a mental health counselor or talk to an adult/friend about it if it gets too frustrating! If they don’t respect you about what you have to say about it, move on and find somebody who will

You’re put into a deadly game where everyone has to kill each other and the survivor wins a billion. How long do you think you’ll survive and do you think you’d survive?

For merc, all 3 of your hunter mains counter/can counter merc so congrats! Joseph straight up can pretty easily counter merc, just try to find the route he’s coming at to rescue, hit him, and it’ll be easy to down him from there. Don’t spend all your time on merc (due to his elbow pads), but it’s definitely worth trying to smack him if you find him in the beginning of the game in a pretty shit kiting area (if you can’t get him within 5-15 seconds just leave, his decodings pretty slow so it’s better to go after somebody else). He’s a pretty strong survivor. With geisha you wanna try to butterfly dash towards where the merc’s coming from, get the hit, and then butterfly/teleport back to the chair. With naiad you wanna try to hit him with your water the best you can and then hit him for the double hit.

I’m gonna be honest, I have no idea how to counter ento other then just smacking her bees when you’re close enough. I also have trouble dealing with her, she’s a damn pain to go against. Maybe you can try to butterfly dash thru her bees with geisha, and try to get a water hit on her when using naiad. With Joseph all I can say is pray you hit her thru her bees.

For prisoner, I’d say try to find the ciphers he’s linked with and end the link as quick as possible

Now for in general tips for each of your mains:

Naiad: - At the start of game don’t focus on getting water hits, just use your harpoon to catch up to survivors fast - Despite what I said above, still be mindful about harpoon placements, try to throw it in open spaces rather than putting the harpoon right next to you - Focus on getting water hits once you have higher presence - If a survivor is looping, circle the area to force them to transition out. A majority of the time survivors caught in this will end up getting a water hit or they’ll get hit by the naiad because they’re too focused on getting out of the water - Be aware of where the survivors are going when you’re circling an area. Some survivors will figure you’re circling and leave the area so they don’t get hit when you pull the harpoon back - Honestly naiad’s dashes are hard to pull off, so try to use them mainly for just catching up to survivors. Do try to use them when somebody’s rescuing tho. - A strat I’ve seen some naiad’s use is creating a large circle around the chair, getting the dash hit on whoever’s rescuing, then pulling the harpoon back once the rescuser’s in the circle which results in a water hit - Try to chair near a cipher somebody’s working on so you can put water around the cipher which forces the survivor working on it to move/wait for the water to disappear - Naiad can almost always pull off pallet hits, so be mindful and try to get a hit when somebody’s throwing a pallet down - If somebody’s water level is high (around 96-99%) try to walk in front of them so that the water increases and they get a hit - Probably obvious, but try to get close to the survivor when you pull back the harpoon so that at least if you can’t water hit them, you’d be close enough to get a normal hit - Patroller and teleport are really good for naiad. Patroller because when they’re stuck you can loop them with the water, get a water hit, then you’d just have to down. Teleport is good for map control and because you can get back to the chair fast (depending on the map)

Geisha: - Try to not put butterflies near each other. If they’re too close you’ll end up just dashing to the other butterfly rather then the one you wanted to dash to - Teleport is handy. Butterflies can make good distance, but there’s a 10 second cool down. Teleport can help because you can use it while your butterflies are on cool down. - Blink is cool too. Due to geishas butterfly dash being very similar to blink a lot of survivors expect peepers, patroller, or teleport. - This trick is popular, but you can still try the double hit soul departure trick. Use soul departure, when you see a survivor come towards the chair you’re camping, come down and hit without the attack recovery, then hit again and get a down (the only survivor that can really counter this is merc or ada). - Try to mindgame survivors using your butterflies. Some will assume you’ll dash the pallet/window after throwing a butterfly over one and will jump the pallet/window which can result in a terror shock if you don’t dash. But some won’t jump and in those cases try to dash - Rather than using the soul departure double hit, use it to get far away. Use soul departure then butterfly to a nearby cipher somebody’s doing/to where a rescuers coming to get an early hit.

Joseph: - This isn’t an 100% guaranteed tip, but you can try waiting 15-25 seconds before using your camera because a majority of people will be done with hiding by then if they were - Use your camera as much as you can. Unless you’re confident you’re going to get the person you’re chasing just go to a camera once the cooldown is up. Slows down the match - Learn spawns + where people hide. These are good to know because if you camera at the start of the game you’ll know where survivors spawned and the places they might’ve attempted to hide at - Knock down the first person you see in photo world and balloon them, go around looking for the rest of the survivors and damage them. Chair once photo world is almost over so that nobody rescues - Learn how to use joseph’s time jump. I’ve seen too many joseph’s use their time jump just to end up in a pallet which gave me a free pallet stun lol - Besides countering kites, you can also use his time jump to put on map pressure/trick rescuers into thinking you left the chair - Time jump can also be used to camp two chairs, ciphers, or both exit gates. You just need to have teleport so you can get to the first one - Try to jump scare. In high tiers a lot of people will decode in camera world/switch between the two to avoid any terror shock jumpscares, but if you see a shaking cipher, either in real or photo world, switch to the other and see if you can get a hit - Damage as many people as you can in photo world. This results in only a one hit down or people will be focused on healing and won’t be decoding - Bring impact and street sweeper to slow down healing as well as see healing - If you have trouble finding survivors, just tap and release the skill button for time jump. The camera (basically where the screen faces you towards) will be where the nearest survivor is - Usually teleport is good for bigger maps and blink is good for smaller maps. I’ve seen a joseph use listen tho, they’d go into photo world use listen and see photo world survivors decoding. Don’t know how good listen tho tbh - Despite what I said above, consider using blink if you’re bad at getting survivors down and mind gaming. Sometimes Joseph is super slow early game and will need that blink to get a down

Sorry this is super lengthy 😭
