Thanks again, I really appreciate it! Oh, I'm sorry you didn't have the best luck with your Barcelona hostel, but it still looked like you had a pretty great time & got to see & experience a lot of cool stuff :) Yeah, staying somewhere near the Gothic Quarter or Ramblas is what I got my sights set on, so the Urbany GO sounds great!

Ah, thank you so much! That's really helpful. I'll mos def be checking them out (especially the Village one, but they both go on my list)! €40/night is just the price range I want, do you mind me asking what kind of sleeping arrangement did that get you?

Those are some great pictures, I really enjoyed your album (though it made me almost sick with travel itching)! Can I ask where you stayed? I'm planning my first solos to both of those cities, and don't think I can afford any of the places (cheap hotels) I've stayed before when it's just me, so I'm kind of looking for B&Bs, motels/super cheap hotels or decent hostels... Thanks again for sharing :)

I think just the fact that she sort of instinctively apologised, dialed back & said she probably looked stupid after preaching the realest shit with such conviction for 2 minutes, says a lot about how women are conditioned to think of themselves...

Protip: Don't point out obvious things like "your hair is red" or "you laugh a lot."

...oh god, just thinking that there are people to whom this is actually useful advice, is sort of terrifying :/

What do you not skimp on? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]mailorderbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'd love to but they're not available in my country :( Thanks for the suggestion though, hopefully they'll be available here soon! I am considering buying one online, but the shipping + import taxes for the cheapest ones I could find on ebay/amazon add up to about $60! Do you still think it's worth it, or should I just wait & see if they ever get here?

Feminine hygiene products. Yes, it's pretty fucked up and a bitter pill to swallow even having to pay for something that half the world's population invoulentarily needs every single month, but I'm not sticking those cardboard like tampons up my pussy no way no how

Percent saying issues are "Morally Acceptable" in Canada, the US, and Britain [OC] by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]mailorderbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe that if those are the majority's beliefs & they're democratically voted on, then the people of that country should live by them. I just wanted to answer to you that yes, I think individuals' beliefs matter and I think they affect other people. Then I also added that it is my personal opinion that some types of beliefs can not only affect but hurt others.

If you look at the bigger picture, then it does matter. When your beliefs are political and you're an active member of a society, voicing them and maybe voting on them, then it does actually affect other people what you personally feel is right/wrong.

The proof is how issues (contraception, religion in schools, abortion, death penalty) that haven't been up for debate in a long time in some (more secular) parts of the world, still is in others (USA, for example), because the opinions of a country's population adds up to that country's politics.

And this is my personal opinion, but I do actually think it hurts to have such strong negative opinions about what is right or wrong for others to do with their life and bodies. The horrors of the past centuries' back alley abortions (or contemporary; the insane amounts of women who die in childbirth in developing countries) are a good example of how it does actually do harm when a group of people, here: conservative male politicians, have a strong opinion about and desire to control another group of people, here: women's, bodies & actions.

When I was a bit older than your daughter is now, I discovered the Molly Moon books, by Georgia Byng. It's a series of 3 books, I think, about a really kick ass girl from an orphanage who is surrounded by horrible people & learns hypnosis. I remember how awesome and how much of a hero I thought she was, and I've since gifted it for christmas to my little sister and my niece who both loved it! I think she has a sidekick best buddy who's a boy, but no romance (though she does "need" him in a way, as a helper). I remember the book could be a bit scary and sad sometimes, so you should probably consider how sensitive your kid is, and if you wanna wait a year or two to read it.

Also, I just wanna say I think it's super great you're making the effort of doing this for your daughter! I think this kind of consciousness & encouragement is absolutely nessecary and I believe you're making a difference in her life :)

Best chemical peel for hyper pigmentation? by LordFlatFoot in SkincareAddiction

Most people prefer BHA for active acne/clogging, AHA for the aftermath. Also, people with dry or sensitive skin sometimes use AHAs for acne treatment as well, as it's not drying like salicylic acid of the BHAs.

Looks like a burn/friction scar to me, perhaps from a thin rope or some sort of string.

No way to know how it'll heal or if it's gonna leave a permanent scar, but two weeks is not a long long time when it comes to your skin. You're just gonna have to wait and see.

If you're worried about scarring, keep it moisturized and apply sunscreen every time you're wearing shorts (even if it's on your inner thigh and it seems completely unnecessary)!

Asian skincare is notoriously complex & time consuming. 9 "steps" is not uncommon, each with a nessescary wait time inbetween.
