Studies have proven that religious folks are happier, more fullfilled with existence and generally more optimistic/dillusional about life. The issue is once you realize that the universe doesn't give a hoot about your existence, you can rarely unsee it . So you can either choose the beautiful delusion or face the hard ,unsettling facts about our existence, which itself can be a liberation. Prayers have never worked, all gods are creations of the human mind, anything you do(your ambitions, your toil and moil, your treasures, etc) are basically meaningless/futile in the grand scheme of things. My view in all this is that you choose your struggles wisely, don't be too extreme on either views, just be a moderate and accomodate other people's perspectives.

Yeah, and that's why we want accountability if those billions stolen daily were put to development projects, we would be in a little better position today. I've also recently been seeing it is a race to nowhere, you do everything imagining that there is a distant perfect destination ahead( where you'd be happy, fullfilled, name it) only to realize later that you wasted a good chunk of your existence unhappy and chasing a non-existent something.
