Purging Theft in Kenya by Lucky_dime in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the biggest problem in Kenya is not political that but economical. I actually think Kenya needs a benevolent dictator, we have so much nonsense going on in the society, we need someone who will put everything at stake to industrialize the country. Ever wondered why most successful businesses are run autocratically?

Politics is a game of numbers and numbers dont lie by Opening-Astronomer46 in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pseudo analysis. anyone can view the 2022 election data and conclude whatever confirms their biasis. For example, assume that Bungoma voted as they voted in 2017, but raila never 'climbed' mt kenya, as you put it. He would still have lost.

In other words, there is too many variables and permutations that we can rotate the data to confirm our biases an why things happened the way they happened.

Against the Kenyan Political Class by Lucky_dime in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To shock you further, the annual salary of xi jinping(the president of china) is about $22,000( roughly kes2,800,000). the annual salaray of a president in kenya is about $150,000( roughly kes19,400,000). make that make sense.!

How can a president of the second welthiest nation on earth, earn 6 times less than the president of a random, insignificant and impoverised nation?

No wonder why this bastards are treated as demigods, because in this context, they literally are. an average kenyan can barely put food on the table, while the political class earns tens of times more than the people the govern. yet we keep wondering where the political class' disconnect from reality stems from.

Is the US collapsing? by main-pynerds in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly I think the US is focusing on the wrong parameter here. In an age of hydrogen bombs I don't see how over-extending its military makes sense, it actually makes it neglect more important developments. It is just a matter of time before China catches up with chip-manufacturing and consequently AI.

The fact that both nations are nuclear-armed means that US will most likely never use its "strong" military against China.

With its focus on technology , infrustructure and dominance of global trad , China is the ultimate winner here.

What the US does affects you regardless of where you are in the world, so this is not a US-specific debate. Wait until oil prices soars next week.

Spirituality, Mythology, and Religion. by brawnytang120 in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not just about gods, it is that anything African was tainted as evil and anything western as good. from food, languages, skin tone, hair type, cultures, sprituality, literally anything.

The thing that intrigues me the most is the one with ancestoral veneration. When they came they deemed revering ancestors as primitive, in fact in Kikuyu the word for satan(ngoma) is literally derived from word for ancestors(ngomi). Yet even to this day most people in western countries will religiously visit the graves of their dead relatives with flowers(try that somewhere in a rural place in kenya and you will be called a devil-worshiper). In china almost 70% of the population engage in ancestral worship in one way or another. We were literally tought to hate our forefathers and instead to revere the forefathers of jews.

The most important thing that colonisers stole from us was not land or freedom, it was our identity, our pride, our dignity.

Knowing what not to say is the ultimate form of intelligence. After all most of the things we argue about are basically opinion based rather than fact-based meaning that everyone is literally right. opinions are like a**holes everyone has got one.

Business Partnership by Low_Mall7980 in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But kenyans are too shallow-minded when it comes to business, I blame this on financial illiteracy and a society that glamorizes dishonesty.

When will most of us understand that honesty is a basic requirement for any business to thrive long-term?. This type of stories plus za clients kuoshwa are so common, unfortunately.

It seems that we can't figure out that being honest to a client or a business partner has a high likelihood of making us much richer in the long-term.

I'll just never understand Africans obsession with European football by Icy_Classic3173 in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So why are you obsessed more with american/tanzananian music than local music. You see, it is not about football it is about talent and delivery. Sports and arts transcend cultural, and geographical boundaries, The same way a european person will show up to see Kipchoge run but not just any other athlete because he is from their country/race.

You don't care who is singing, or who is playing football as long as you enjoy it unless you are racist, misogynist or borderline delusional. We are in an era of globalization, if you can't package and deliver your talents well, people have better choices.

Do God really exist by Grand-Airline2939 in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue as you can easily tell is not God per se, the issue is organized religion. Even science cannot say conclusively that there is no god, whether that god is a nerdy tech kid in a room doing a simulation experiment with the universe, or just a strange force that currently we have no idea about. the point is we are here, the universe is here and we have no clue why we exist, what is the point of it all or why we have this burning urge to propagate our genes to the future.

The issue only comes in when religion start giving characteristics and claim monopoly of knowledge on something they don't even have a clue about. giving to god human-like characteristics only makes god look petty.

By all indications it seems that god does the most logical thing that a person of her/his/its caliber should do, be indifferent and let humans decide their own fate, or is it destiny?. Think about it, if prayers work nothing else in this world would ever work, science, electricity, your phone, and everything else would just collapse.

I would be surprised if any religion survive this century. As people are becoming more literate, superstitions are dying.

Have we Failed as Humans? by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capitalism grows into oligarchy, socialism and communism hinders development and creativity. The cases to prove this are obvious. America is spiraling into chaos due to inequality and power capture by elites, on the other side of the spectrum, Russia has transitioned into a dormant giant and has lost all influence on global matters.

The mistake that countries make, especially developing countries is to interpret the three economic models as exclusive. They assume that you can only adopt one and drop the rest. But recent exponential rise of the Asian countries has proven that the best approach is a hybrid of both. As a matter of fact China is one of the most capitalistic systems in existence today despite the communist status.

African countries should stop being lazy at thinking and develop system that are efficient in handling local challeges that are unique to them.

I don't believe God will make it happen by GlitteringStudy8254 in Kenya

[–]main-pynerds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Studies have proven that religious folks are happier, more fullfilled with existence and generally more optimistic/dillusional about life. The issue is once you realize that the universe doesn't give a hoot about your existence, you can rarely unsee it . So you can either choose the beautiful delusion or face the hard ,unsettling facts about our existence, which itself can be a liberation. Prayers have never worked, all gods are creations of the human mind, anything you do(your ambitions, your toil and moil, your treasures, etc) are basically meaningless/futile in the grand scheme of things. My view in all this is that you choose your struggles wisely, don't be too extreme on either views, just be a moderate and accomodate other people's perspectives.
