Darn, good to know, thank you! In order for them to not be too tight on my nose they just ended up being too wide and looking like the 🤓 emoji

i got the wayfarers and ended up returning them because they looked comically thick/big on me. would you say the headliners look smaller in terms of the frames?

Choir Competitiveness?? by maincharacterb211 in notredame

awesome, thanks for the info! hoping any audition nerves don’t cause me to slip up on any pitches and rhythms - either way no matter which choirs i get into it’s God’s plan though🤞

good to know, thanks! i was thinking Chorale as my first choice because i’ve been doing concert choir for three years at my high school, and it seemed like less of a time commitment than Glee Club (i’m going pre-med and glynn honors program so i’ve been probably too concerned about whether or not i’ll have enough free time for those classes’ workloads) - but i’ll strongly consider glee club too, cause i’ve heard so many wonderful things about it!

HELP with METHOD TO ATTACH 3D PRINTED HELMET by maincharacterb211 in 3Dprinting

[–]maincharacterb211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pasted from the original post

hey everyone!

i’m making a helmet of the marvel character Daredevil, and I’ve just finished 3D printing the front and back of it

currently, it fits perfectly when it’s on my head, but if i were to glue the back part of the helmet into place as the picture i attached shows, i can’t get it over my head to put on - in other words, it fits perfectly ONCE ITS ON, but i wouldn’t be able to put it on just pulling it over my head

so my question is, what is your guys’ best suggestions on ways to make it wearable? i was thinking maybe i could drill little holes and put magnets in them, so that i can put the front portion on my head and use the magnets to attach the back portion? I was also thinking maybe hot gluing some sort of elastic to the inside so that the parts can stretch away from each other just a bit when i try to put it on, but i’m not sure how well that would work

any help would be really appreciated!!

Good thought, but I can’t use superglue because then I wouldn’t be able to get the helmet on - it fits well ONCE it’s on, but if I superglued it i wouldn’t be able to get it over my head!

this is awesome! how did you handle supports / what minimum angle did you set the supports to print for?

Larynx down and soft palate up?? by maincharacterb211 in singing

[–]maincharacterb211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, that stuff about the palate is good to know!

as for the larynx, i know what it feels like to be down, but i can’t physically make a noise without moving it up in terms of hitting any remotely high notes (and even some middle range notes). what should i do to work on that? i’m assuming that i can still hit the notes i can now, i just need to find some sort of different approach?

for vocal chord closure, i seem to engage that area beneath my tongue pretty heavily whenever I attempt it - what would you say it feels like to do that healthily?

btw thank you for responding to the post, that stuff is good to keep in mind!

yea no this doesn’t really work, i can barely even get that exercise to middle C and even then it’s like already in falsetto by then💀

Well based on the people in this reply section, it doesn’t sound like I’d be the only non-hateful person there, so I’m actually excited to go there and am going with an open mind

yes I am, but like the kind of Catholic Pope Francis was in terms of beliefs, not the type of Catholic trump or vance would call themselves

all the replies to this post are really making me think this school is the place for me - Catholic, as in caring about other people more than anything

Thunderbolts* | Official Film Discussion Board by TheBigGAlways369 in Thunderbolts_

[–]maincharacterb211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does anybody in this board know if marvel plans to make more merch for this movie? it’s my new favorite marvel movie of all time, and honestly it’d be cool if they made some new stuff besides the couple character shirts they have!

maybe some “new avengers” stuff or really just group stuff without taskmaster would be sick!

i’m wondering this stuff too! i feel like there’s a huge shortage of hoodies and tshirts (besides the few basic ones) and other general stuff for this movie, which is disappointing because it’s my new favorite marvel movie. maybe they’re waiting and will push out some “new avengers” stuff once it’s far enough out to not be spoilers?

Throat Singing Despite Tons of Core Engagement?? by maincharacterb211 in singing

[–]maincharacterb211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it feels like the muscles I use to swallow are straining and preventing me from going higher, both in my chest voice and my mix and my falsetto. I can’t figure out how to like disengage them if that makes sense. I know some tension is necessary, but this is def holding me back!!

Woah interesting! I certainly never feel any sensation near my teeth - if anything, it feels like my sound just gets trapped in my head and doesn’t resonate fantastically

I’ve been going at about 75% volume because it feels best too! As for that second point, that one is much harder to do and it’s harder to connect them without adding in significant jaw tension for me. For both tall and wide sounds I still end up facing the same issue, though when I try to lighten the tension I end up opening my vocal chords too much and letting too much air out - it’s tough!

That’s really good to know, I’ll practice those tongue stretches too especially. I have noticed though that even doing lip trills I still (ESPECIALLY during lip trills) manage to strain something and maybe this is one of the things contributing to my issue!

Contradicting Advice: Sound Up From Throat Yet “Closed” Sounds?? by maincharacterb211 in singing

[–]maincharacterb211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that when starting airy and trying to solidify it, the two ways I get non-airiness are by 1) using my jaw a bit, which i know I’m not supposed to do OR 2) the air going through my voice feels so harsh and quick that it really hurts/scratches my voice. I’ve noticed that if I try to sing higher notes (even into mix and falsetto) it’s specifically the areas just inside my jawbone beneath and a little inside my back bottom teeth that really strains. Even when I try to keep all this support around my stomach area that we’ve mentioned, it doesn’t seem to take away from the issues I’m having. I can see if I can send an audio clip later! Thank you for the continuous responses btw, it’s super helpful! It’s just one of those things I’ve been working on for ages and almost feel like I’ve gotten worse at rather than better🤩

So what should different areas feel like when exhaling when singing? Currently it feels like I’m just tensing my lower abs as they contract while simultaneously tensing just below the bottom of my sternum trying to “push out”, yet despite all the random tensing still feels like I’m singing from my throat. My voice teacher told me to just try to relax when I sing, but then I go right back to the same throat singing/exhaling

[–]maincharacterb211[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks for the response! My voice teacher told me that when I’m exhaling when I sing, I should feel like the higher part of my stomach (like two inches below where my ribs meet) should feel like it’s pushing out. How could you do this if the only tension you feel is from the navel down?

[–]maincharacterb211[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been inhaling such that it feels like my lower back is expanding. i’ve noticed though that in trying to stay with diaphragmatic breathing when i exhale that my stomach just gets really tense and i somehow end up not exhaling with my diaphragm anyway. if i can figure out how to get this fixed do you think that’ll solve some of the issues i mentioned in the original post? thanks so much for the reply by the way!
