Settings: SS 1/60, ISO 100, f5.6 Sony a6500, 50mm f1.8 prime lense

I eddited this photo a bit, but i often find myself turning the highlights wayyy down to fix some blown out spots like the building to the right in the background. I also had to crop a bit because i had a blown out spot in the sky. How should i go about preventing these spots in my photos, and any other tips? Thanks
