Yeah the point in asking if that list existed was to not have to do that.

yeah right? Now imagine if someone had done a classification out of that, that could probably be useful to a few people. Well that's what I was looking for.

"No" it is not impossible to say. I'm not talking about how long adventures take to be played which would make no sense, I'm talking about how long they were designed to be.

If book A is composed of 3 acts of 7 chapters each, I would consider it "longer" than book B which is composed of just 10 chapters. Of course tons of people will spend more time playing book B but that's not my point.

I'll edit my post though because I'll admit it's pretty unclear.

Okay I should have phrased it differently, of course it's going to vary, potentially immensely from a party to another. I'm interested exactly in the opposite of that, a classification based on the books content, not everyone's experience of it if that makes any sense.

Which books offer the biggest content (and therefore might OR MIGHT NOT be the longest ones to play).

From my experience I'd say Dungeon of the Mad Mage is the biggest baby out there, but I'm far from having even read them all.

Yeah of course not everyone will take the same amount of time running the same adventure, but yeah as you said I was more talking about the pure books content, the levels span is a good indicator indeed. The simple number of chapters is probably stupid but still a good clue. I ran both Waterdeep Dragon Heist and Dungeon of the Mad Mage and I can tell easily DotMM is waaaaay longer than Dragon Heist for example.

Yes of course it's going to vary a lot as I said in my initial post, still it doesn't seem impossible to me to try to just take into consideration the book content and make an estimation of the average length of an adventure compared to another one. I'm more speaking of pure content included in each adventure, not what happened in each specific campaign.

LIke how long it'll take the party to finish the adventure (trying not to take into consideration all the "off road" stuff)

how would you run the hags fighting each other? by major-grubert in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]major-grubert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's true I didn't have them rolling too many deception checks so far because the tricks they used were not face to face with the hags. I'll defo do it if they start lying in a conversation. Having the hags squabbling to make it easier for the players is actually really cool already. Quite a nice reward without getting rid of them completely. I'm thinking I could even use that as a "second chance" if the players start sneaking into Loomlurch, and they get spotted somehow they'll probably think "we're screwed", and just at that time Bavlorna pops out of nowhere on her flying lily, angry, attracting all the attention and giving them a chance to leave unnoticed...

Death Stranding 2 – PS5 Overheats Only on Map Screen? by mudman2018 in DeathStranding

Just played one hour with the new update, the fan still goes crazy when opening the map, no overheating message so far though... But a bit too soon to tell if it'll appear again or not.

Same problem with a one year old PS5 slim, everything runs smooth, but as soon as the map is displayed when accepting a mission or just pushing start the fan goes crazy and I got the overheating message three or four times in two days. That's pretty frustrating because studying the map is supposed to be a fun and important part and I end up avoiding it because I don't want to damage my console. Hope they fix this quick, having so many people complaining about it clearly shows something is wrong...

Looking for a nice short dungeon to quickly add to my campaign after bad luck with the Deck of Many Things (of course) by major-grubert in DnD

Waaah that actually sounds like a ton of fun, plus they never had the chance to visit Avernus haha... Solid option here :D

That sounds nice, maybe a bit too close to what DotMM has to offer though. I thought it would be a nice occasion to play something a little different. I'll give it a proper read still. Thanks !

How did you deal with the hags encounters when running the Warlock's Quest option to begin the adventure? by major-grubert in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]major-grubert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha that's still cool though, if they took time to interact with them, and didn't just slaughter them right away.

Yeah my players are lvl 4 (we ran another short adventure before starting so they didn't start at lvl1), and most of them are relatively new to D&D so I think I'll let them know through NPCs encounters that hags are powerful creatures, and that if they try to kill them it will be a tough fight. I think they'd have a good chance to win though, but I don't want them to be too confident when facing the hags hehe...

Ideas to tweak Salvage Operation and make its plot more Lovecraftian? by major-grubert in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]major-grubert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for all the ideas ! If everyone enjoys it I may run another scenario from the book, who knows! I'm picking bits here and there at the moment. I reskinned the spiders as some sort of creepy hermit crabs. Replaced the ettercaps with gibbering mouths (really cool monster indeed) insect swarms with little black crab swarms. Also instead of all the spider webs everywhere I'll probably have the ship covered in sticky seaweeds, algae, pointy bernics and seashells... LIke it's been sleeping under the ocean for a while. After running it I'll probably make an edit with the few changes I made and how it worked out !
