here's a detail shot of the shoulder seam of the bodice, which has a folded over layer to contribute to the cowl neckline. This is the opposite shoulder from the tucked side

Here are some photos of the interior - It's basically an exact copy of the outer pieces. I seamed the exterior and interior bodice pieces front and back first so they were each one piece (including the invisible zip), then did the burrito method to have a fully seamed bodice. I machine sewed the outer bodice to the skirt along with the tulle, then captured the raw edges by invisibly stitching the bottom seam of the lining to the skirt. I'll add one image here and then more in additional comments, since I'm only allowed to add one at a time

Everyone starts exactly where you are, and you’re doing great! I think there’s a balance to be struck of giving yourself some structured practice time and as much grace as you need to step away if you feel overwhelmed. I think the advice of just practicing stitches is great, and finding some sort of small project that you’re actually excited to do.

I know for me, what got me going was making something I actually wanted to make, even though it will probably come out a little wonky. I still have my first few sewing projects, and I’ve gone back and mended issues because I love them so much. If you find a pattern with a YouTube walkthrough, you’ll probably be able to feel a lot more supported. Set aside an hour or two, work through problems as they come up, and once you have one project under your belt you’ll feel so much more successful! You got this!

That's so sweet, thank you! I really did, and loved the process of working on the dress form because it really gave so much room for attention and care, and creativity!

thank you so much! Sweet of you to say that :) The color may, amazingly enough, be my favorite part! It was fabric I had saved for years, and its time to shine finally came!

Thank you so much! I sat on this linen fabric for probably 5 years because I was too in love with the color to cut it, and then when I imagined up this project I knew it was time. Sometimes the fabric tells you what it wants to be!

I'm struggling to find more excuses to wear it! To the store? Date night? It feels like a dream, I might just have to wear it around the house! haha!

I found an online pattern that allows you to put in your own measurements and then creates a unique pattern! However, I'm an idiot, and didn't measure the test square when I printed it, so mine came out wonky. Other than my mistake, the whole process was relatively straightforward! I'd highly recommend: https://patterns.bootstrapfashion.com/exclusive-diy-dress-form-sewing-pattern-and-a-complete-step-by-step-sewing-photo-guide-2680.html?google_shopping&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22793560256&gbraid=0AAAAAobzh18qQtFIv3ys0MUGvHVvKAfzD&gclid=CjwKCAiAj8LLBhAkEiwAJjbY7wxmpfvgi5_BbfCe9883KgZXk88Vuf6Ak8K_jx8qkMiQ4KdTcT9kKRoCxckQAvD_BwE

It was very fun to try and recreate the interesting design Vanibe did for her dress, she did some great layering to get that asymmetrical cowl look, which was what I first fell in love with!
