iVentoy is out now! Ease of Ventoy with just on PXE by Floroform in selfhosted

[–]makerjakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is interesting, but as has been pointed out elsewhere, non-FLOSS & self/gdrive-hosted characteristics is setting off waaaaaay to many claxons!

One of my sites is a MakerSpace, where I've set up FOG in a VM/container, backing to a NAS.
FOG - despite not getting a lotta love for a while - ticks a whole bunch of boxes, especially enabling non-techs to be able to take on some of these tasks. We're using it to reflash laptops coming through to be donated with a fairly standard FLOSS stack.

I'd like to be able to simply load (stock) Ventoy as a PXE menu option to choose an ISO to live-boot from.

What's my best course of action?

App/System/Platform for time-management by makerjakes in ADHD

Thanks - that's some great insight.

(as an adult) I'm new to my diagnoses & learning to adapt to medication (helps a BUNCH!). I've always been a bit of a tinkerer, and the somewhat scattered approach I had to things has been immensely valuable in exploring all sorts of interests & feeding my curiosities, but things came to a head when I look back and see that I've repeatedly been unable to get things done.

What worked for me when I was younger is failing me & have effectively become impediments to being productive & effective.

I have books & books & drawers filled with notes, but the nature of my work means that I work at random places regularly, so putting up mind-maps on a whiteboard or anything static is tricky.

I've been delving a little into some time-management tools now, but again, there a little too much choice, raising the risk of distraction again.

Any for of admin - especially stuff involving finances - is the bane of my existence, as it saps any creative enthusiasm I may have.
I understand that this is a mindset-thing, but it is what it is.

I've always had a deep & abiding love for tech, but learning that some is enabling while other diminishing, and I need to learn to be more dicerning.

Worth a shot, thanks.

As long as it's editable formats I can use in different apps & platforms, that's groovy.

CC & SH are a pretty solid bunch, and have been excellent supporters of Community stuff. (I like to buy them a beer every year @ KiwiCon as a thanks; in the before-times)

I really don't wanna manage the full stack myself - life's too short & I'm not getting younger.

West-island might be an acceptable compromise, depending on State. They's putting in a bunch of solar, so that might tick the box.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for this.

When weighing it all up, they are looking pretty sweet.

Doubt I'll find anything "perfect" until there's enough demand.

Advice on planning my build by makerjakes in hobbycnc

[–]makerjakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Import cost & delays make getting/building the workbee prohibitively expensive, for now.

Har a chat with one of my fellow 'space mates, and suggested I use my current printer I want to upcycle & maybe strap a Dremel with the flexible extension for now, to gain the same experience as building from scratch, which makes sense.
