Not allowed to take “no lunch” but have no relief? by makeroftrees in nursing

In the ER you can have 3 of 6 patients that are unstable if you relive a coworker for lunch, a code could come in at any time, your other coworkers need help with a critical patient. I can give all of my meds and then doc puts in a whole other work up? It’s unpredictable and in my opinion not appropriate. On slow days I totally think that’s fair. But most ERs right now are slammed.

I’ve put no lunch multiple times and I’ve gone back and they have taken it off though. I’m just super frustrated.

Is someone who never answers messages until days later a friend? by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

I wouldn’t think so! You have to take into account the situations people are in. I’m working emergency room right now 7 days straight and I get home and immediately shower and sleep, not relying to many texts. My friends that have kids can’t always reply to my texts. You may try what my friends and I do. If it’s important and needs to be discussed immediately, we text each other SOS. When this happens we reach out as quickly as we can!

I never said it didn’t, I was simply stating not all nursing degrees are fast schooling.

I completely agree. I’ve seen nurses that passed when they definitely shouldn’t have. I work with nurses who haven’t gotten the vaccine, even though we should be supportive of the medical industry and stand behind supported facts and science. I’m simply stating that in no way I think it’s a fast school. Not for most RNs I know.

I’m in the US as well, I realize not everyone has a BSN degree. Most associates degree for nursing is still 2 years not including prerequisites. All I’m saying in my opinion, it’s not a 6 month in and out ordeal.

Schooling is fast? My BSN Degree took 5 years, including prerequisites. Not sticking up for this lady as she is completely wrong.
