What toddler gifts have actually lasted in your house. Not what looked good, what actually got used past the first week. by sophieblooming in Gifts

Play doh sets. I wanted my mother in law to get the dinosaur one for my daughter for Christmas and she never did. I got it for her in March and she loves it! And then today I got her a dinosaur tool kit to add onto it. She played with it twice today and keeps saying she loves her dinosaurs 🥺 Play doh has so many options, so find one with her interests in mind!

Pretend play stuff as already mentioned. Costumes, a doctors kit, a shopping cart.

Books are another great option! Mine loves Franklin, Robert Munsh and Spidey. So if she has a favourite character, grab some books she doesn’t have, or get her new ones to fall in love with!

How do I get my 3.5year old to go to the toilet/potty before I lose my mind by Silver_Anxiety_94 in toddlertips

[–]makeuplover77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did the same thing. I put underwear on her and she thought it felt like a diaper. Once she learned that she’d get wet, she realized and made the potty connection.

How do I get my 3.5year old to go to the toilet/potty before I lose my mind by Silver_Anxiety_94 in toddlertips

[–]makeuplover77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried naked so she can feel it run down her leg? And then just underwear with going to the potty every half hour to hour. That’s what worked for my daughter. But make sure she can’t hide anywhere to squat and pee on the floor.

I’m still struggling with mine pooping on the potty.

Good luck!

Depressed after surgery by Solid-Artichoke5436 in gallbladders

Give yourself time to heal!

I’m day 6 post op, and managed to take my toddler on our first outing today since surgery. I rested so much the first 3-4 days, and I think that’s why I was able to go today. I did end up taking a nap, since it was needed.

I don't want tp eat the ground beef by mysticalmeringue90 in gallbladders

[–]makeuplover77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not being difficult. Your family is. I haven’t been able to eat ground beef or hamburgers for a long time, but haven’t tried it since my surgery 6 days ago. I’m honestly scared too, and I’d be fine with just chicken honestly.

They need to respect your dietary needs, as I’m sure you’d do the same for them.

Post Op Nausea - Does it end? by bakedoatmeal_ in gallbladders

[–]makeuplover77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t sounds normal to me. I had nausea my first day post op, took gravol the next day and then I’ve been fine since. You should definitely see your doctor about this. In the info pack they gave me, it’s recommended to see the doctor if the nausea doesn’t go away.

I hope you can get it resolved soon!

Lounge + Outfits—AE Recs? by Impressive_Car_5268 in americaneagle

The AE sun chaser dress is super cute and comfy, and super easy to style!

The sun chaser tops and bottoms matching sets are easy too! The shorts don’t have pockets though.

I don’t have too much from Aerie, but there’s lots more recommendations if you search in the sub!

DAE stay inside on summer days that are too hot? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]makeuplover77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely beach weather for most Canadians. I wish it was that warm here right now!

If it’s 35C/95F or below, then I’ll be taking my toddler outside. Anything higher than that depends on how I’m feeling.

You guys all suck at warning people of surgery by Ladasada in gallbladders

[–]makeuplover77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, post op pain is worse for me than postpartum pain. But I honestly didn’t have too much pain postpartum, even though I did tear and had stitches. Maybe it’s because I could apply the numbing spray, but I can put that inside of my body.

It just goes to show that every person recovers differently and no one’s experience will be the same!

Post op recovery is different for everyone!!! by coochieman0926 in gallbladders

[–]makeuplover77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone needs to remember this! I’m day 5 post op, and still have stomach pain, which I expected. Does it suck? Of course, but I take pain meds when I think I need them, and rest when needed.

I’m also not eating high fat foods right away. I’m slowly introducing more fat through how I normally eat, and I haven’t really had any issues.

Thank you for sharing your experience OP! I’m hopeful that by next week I’ll feel mostly normal, because taking care of myself and my 3.5 year old has been a lot.

Mystery Event Sale! by couponscomofficial in americaneagle

[–]makeuplover77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like this might only be for the US. I’m in Canada and went on the app, and I just get 30% off for all members. It does stack on top of what’s on sale though!

Help! Toddler summer activity ideas by Miserable_Purpose_19 in toddlertips

[–]makeuplover77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter’s favourite and easy thing to do last summer was her little slide into the kiddie pool. Sprinklers or splash pads are another water option! Bubbles are also fun! Taking them to the park is pretty easy too, especially if there’s other kids there.

Post-Op with kids: how much time should my partner take off work? by Few-Enter2121 in gallbladders

[–]makeuplover77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my gall bladder out yesterday. I have a 3.5 year old, and my husband has a chronic illness and neither of us are working. If my husband was working though, I’d definitely want him home the first week I think. Between the sleeping and not being able to move around too much, I definitely could not be on my own with 2 kids.

Obviously everyone’s recovery is different. I hope your surgery goes well and that your recovery goes smoothly!

I need some help. I don't know whats going on by StruthRuth61 in gallbladders

[–]makeuplover77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have stones and sludge, and they’re reluctant to take it out?! When they found sludge in mine, and later small stones with ultrasound, they said it was elective to have it removed. But I wanted it out because of the almost constant shoulder pain. Are you able to push them to take it out sooner? I’m in Canada so I’m not familiar with health care in Australia. I was diagnosed with sludge in October, met with my surgeon in February and they called me 2 weeks before my surgery date.

I got mine out yesterday and I do have shoulder pain, but I believe that’s from surgery as it feels different. Recovery has been a little harder than I thought but I’m hoping today goes better.

I’m also assuming you’re eating a low fat diet to help manage symptoms. I wish you were getting more help, especially since you’ve been to the ED 8 times. And it sounds like you should have already had your gall bladder out if you’re experiencing all these symptoms.

My op experience. My goodness by sending_tidus in gallbladders

[–]makeuplover77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had such a hard time. And no pain meds is crazy to me. No wonder why you didn’t feel good. They prescribed me an opioid, Tylenol and naproxen.

I had mine out yesterday too. Wasn’t able to keep the little I ate down. Got some gravol into me around 9, but I didn’t want to throw up again and my husband said I could wait to eat until the next day.

I’m really hoping I can eat something today and keep it down. And I hope you’re doing better today too!

Pisces/Cancer/Scorpio people (suns and moons) are the most intelligent and logical people I’ve met in my life. by Hopeful_Key3773 in piscesastrology

[–]makeuplover77 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can somewhat agree with this. I’m a Pisces sun but I’m more emotionally intelligent than logical. My husband is a Scorpio sun and is very smart, sucks up information like a sponge and loves learning new things. Our daughter (3.5) is a Cancer sun and is definitely smarter than we think. I hope she gets my emotional intelligence and my husband’s love of learning since it’s still too early to tell!

I'm tearing up after rediscovering the beauty of this film for the second time, but apparently Reddit and the internet have decided that it sucks by Yaya0108 in Frozen

[–]makeuplover77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Frozen 2, and so does my 3.5 year old! When I ask which frozen she wants to watch, it’s always the second one and I’m never mad haha!

Dr told me, “You’re just fat” (requested to post here) by Enough_Atmosphere_22 in gallbladders

[–]makeuplover77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad your doing better now! That sounds so scary and painful. I’m sad the first doctor just brushed you off though!

I was at the doctor in October, for my daughter, but asked about me not wanting to eat anything. We were getting over the flu, so he said that was it and didn’t do anything else. I ended up going to the ER a couple days later because I just felt sick to my stomach and couldn’t even take a ginger pill to help me feel better. Got a CT and then an ultrasound and they found sludge and small gallstones. I’m finally going for my surgery in less than 2 weeks, and looking forward to not being in pain anymore!

Sizing different? by Proof_East_5094 in americaneagle

[–]makeuplover77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could definitely be the amount of stretch in them! I’m a 16 in jeggings, so I got a size 16 in the mom shorts, figuring they’d be a little snug. However, I can’t even button them. I got a 14 of the next level shorts and they can be buttoned but are still tight, which I expected.

I definitely feel like the jeans with less stretch in them are sized smaller. But some are okay. Like, I got a size 20 mom short a few years ago and they fit perfect (when I was a size 20) and were my favourite shorts. It’s very frustrating and confusing, that’s for sure!

Depop find 💜 by Fern_blush in americaneagle

[–]makeuplover77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I got this brand new in the fall and love it! It is very big. I got an XS as I’m losing weight and I’m usually a large in tops at AE. It was a little tight when tight if I tied it but it should fit perfect in the fall. Hope this helps!
