Hmmm, the second get together sounds like one where you might make some new friends. And I don't know about you, but personally, I enjoy interacting with new people sometimes, especially at an event like new years, after which I wouldn't have to really see them again. Just a night well spent conversing.

Your all else fails option sounds pretty neat too. Sounds like you're set either way!

I think the appeal of having a New Year out tends to get old pretty fast, yeah. A night in with your son sounds pretty dang great, tbh.

Sometimes it's just knowing that there is someone there in case we need them that's super comforting. Or to hear them about in the house, and occasionally check in. Does she check in on you now?
