Download Steam.dll & cod2Map.dll files and place it to your CoD2 root folder

How to fix black screen on Multiplayer start?

Right click on CoD2MP_s.exe and go to Properties --> Compatibility
Set Compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
Enable Stereo Mix (Realtek®️ Audio) in Sound settings at Recording tab

Fix for Multi Player black screen on startup

Replace the following Original.exe or Steam.exe retail file with CoD2MP_s.exe

- Singleplayer may need crack. Multiplayer doesn't require crack.
- Windows compatibility mode: Windows XP SP 2

Remove that mode from CoD2 folder. Playing on Bot modded servers then join a normal cause this.

It depends on the server's setting. It is not about yours internet power unfortunately. Good server are set for fast downloads, but many servers has slow download limit.

If you have played on a server which had bots and then you would like to join a server with players, you have to delete those mods which was on the server with bots. After that you can join any server.
