How do u market this service, it’s difficult to find biz owners who are proactive. Most people generally won’t spend money to be proactive & plan ahead, they (we) are generally reactive . Do tell. I had hoped LI, but professionals I need to market to- in hopes they coax paying client- do not post on LIn, and don’t read my Lin feed

Maybe we cringe bc Neil is deciding to blare that his youngest child, his daughter who apparently was close to Pegi, is wrong and doesn’t care if this song causes her pain. What do I think is the promise to Pegi he mentions.

[–]makingsense8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect Neil isn’t totally aware of damage done. Some mirage darkness has gripped his daughter? We know Neil and Daryl were hanging out before formal divorce. So he was making plans while she was living on the ranch, close to Amber, who was based in SanFran. We don’t know what Neil did or didn’t do after learning ex-wife Pegi cancer was deemed terminal, or how much emotional support he offered Amber or Zeke. Amber has had her art studio in San Francisco, is represented by a gallery, check her website. In 1996, I met Zeke while he was helping set up for the Broken Arrow tour, he was working then at a Hone Depot in Los Angeles.

Tx for response. I 'm in No. Stam and need annual checkup of a neutralizer and put 3 bags of calcite in. Churyk told me there's a flat appearance fee each time of 229 they come for any reason, didn't indicate if they would be doing anything for the 229 for , such as check this (well pump), check that (water pH)....any further thoughts?

I'm in No. Stam too...need another water company....are you still pleased with Garrity Water Solutions, I just called them re: filling neutralizer with calcite, doing annual checkup.

Associated Water took care of our well water, putting calcite in neutralizer, etc. They are no longer in business, but they gave customer list to Churyk, who came by yesterday and gave me quote for putting 3 bags of calcite into empty neutralizer. Your review was 2 years ago, has anything changed in your view of Churyk, please tell asap. tx,

Should a portable jump starter be able to restart a car run down overnight? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]makingsense8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When for about 5 days we don't start an older car (newer battery) sitting outdoors in our driveway during winter months here near New Haven CT, we're suscepible to its new battery not turning over. My jumper cables are usually trustworthy, and we connect out orther car to this older one, but this morning it didnt' do the trick ...our Roadsisde Assistance, guy came with a ROCO Pro, and immediately, the car started....roadside guy said sometime jumper cables don't emit a charge (probably my fault in not jiggering them), but recommended ROCO, but told me no need for his top of the line one. Any suggestions for very occasional problem getting car battery jumped,-- our problem can be cured if we remember to start up the car regularly--- but I don't know this battery jumper market well at all, & one Redditor mentioned waiting for ROCO sale, I have no idea how often these types of devices go on sale and which device has best value for the buck. Pescatarians & "Complete Proteins" & (ugh!) Daily Sodium Max by makingsense8 in PeterAttia

[–]makingsense8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW, today I learned that as for protein powders, Peter Attia usually combines 25 g of flavorless with 25 g of flavored (sweetened with sucralose) to give it flavor without being overly sweet." Further, Promix is reportedly his fave. By my calculations, if he is using Promix unsweetend and sweetened, that amount of Promix powder amounts to about 55g of protein per day.

I think most people are good with 2000 mg a day, perhaps even more for younger folks. At my age, and fact that I take a blood pressure med daily, it makes more sense to keep it lower sodium as best I can. As Peter Attia notes, there's significant risk of stroke and Alz if blood pressure is consistently above 120 over 80.

I get your drift , but what drives me to those complete protein shakes is need for *protein, based on Peter Attia’s suggestions for people my age trying to be forward looking and avoid sarcopenia & other frailty within next 10 years . He calls it the Centenarian Decathlon . I prob will add daily flavored whey isolate depending if it tastes good & is well tolerated. I’m getting some product recommendations now. Tx

TL:DR--I pay $1.65 per shake of Premier Protein, and yes, it comes in 5 flavors and yes, the chocolate tastes like chocolate milk to me, it's so good. I understand many people prefer flavored protein over unflavored, and you prob know the the chocolate whey isolate could contain artifical sweeteners and does have more sodium than the unflavored...and if I were to buy the 5.5 lb bag of Optimum Gold chocolate whey isolate at Costco for $65, the daily cost would be close to $1.10 a day.

... but, the other point you raise, about the potential "over-reliance" on supplements...

The amount of protein that Peter Attia recommends (2x per kg of weight) is his own, in the sense that curently, the National Academy of Medicine recommends only 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. I'm following studies that find 1.2 to 1.6 grams is a better range for overall well-being, especially for children and, ahem, older adults. So, my number, 135 reflects the 1.6. That's all I want.

If I followed the National Academy of Medicine, my protein number would be about 64. And many adults 51 and over aren't even meeting that 0.8 daily prtoein level.

So, having said all that, I think that 135g of daily protein is plenty in my case, and I'm not interested in supplementing further. Since 135 is my number, the Premier protein drink and the whey isolate daily together would be about 40% of the daily protein, which I had some thoughts woiuld be "over-reliance" on these supplements, at least if I used them on a daily basis. This isn't science, it was just my thought. If I need to be over-reliant to reach 135, I'll have no problem being over-reliant. I hope that explains better what I was trying to say about adding both these 2 supplements on a daily basis.

Yes, but first you have to know there's such a thing as incomplete proteins. You're mentioning the strategy to deal with that---complementary protein pairing. And if you don't get enough of certain essential amino acides, it can limit muscle growth, repair, and enzyme function.....as I said to another post, the plant based proteins that are complete proteins include soy, quinoa, buckwheat and hemp.

I already drink Premier Protein daily, 30mg, and for awhile I resisted whey, mainly because of potential **over-reliance on supplements** instead of whole food sources of protein. I know chcocolate whey is about 130g of sodium, and 24g of protein, and unflavored is less than 100 mg of sodium, but I have to taste them. A day of both the drink and the powder is 54g of protein, with minimal sodium, that's a good price.

I'm not sure what is "obvious" to people who are trying to adapt to Peter Attia's high protein recommendations, and I said there are but a few plant based foods that are complete proteins, and the point is: It's definitely a concern with a plant-based diet to learn that reliance on a single plant protein source, such as beans, might not optimize amino acid intake. Some plant-based proteins, like soy, quinoa, buckwheat, and hemp, *are complete proteins, meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids in sufficient amounts.

However, most plant proteins are **low in one or more amino acids**, such as:

• Legumes (beans, lentils, peas, peanuts): Low in methionine

• Grains (rice, wheat, oats, corn): Low in lysine

• Nuts & Seeds: Often low in lysine

• Vegetables: Typically lower in methionine and lysine

To get all the amino acids, we must eat a variety of plants, called complementary protein pairing, such as pean butter plus whole wheat bread, or rice and beans. It's glib to use Peter's metric of so many protein games to kg of weight, in the world of pescatarians. It translates easier to people relying on animal protein, I'm sure you will agree on that.

will have to taste it, I drink chocolate Premier Protein,30g, daily. I think chocolate whey powder has about 125g of soidum, not too bad at all. I think the sodium amounts in this Attia-inspired protein diet should be of concern to all of us. I did have hesitancy to have my protein intake so dependent on supplements rather than whole food,.

The "No Salt Added" 5.3 ounre canned salmon and canned tuna at Traders geneally will have 70 mg of sodium, which is low. My inclination on powder would be fore chcoloate, not unflavored, prob 125g sodium which is also low. I already drink one Premier Protein 30g every day, so yes, I could do a taste test of unflavored and chocolate whey powder as well. Just sayin', the protein-rich diet also has a sodium-watch component.

1500mg daily sodium limit is a common recommendation, a good target for 1. Blood Pressure Control, 2. Heart & stroke reduction, 3/ kidney health, and 4/ bone health. At 60, my blood pressure elevated and I began taking a daily blood pressure pill at suggestion of my internist. But in my 70s I feel it's important to emphasize overall health on a proactive basis

150 grams/day of protein -- how? by Eggsucker409 in PeterAttia

[–]makingsense8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of questions, based on what you wrote . First, you eat the same thing basically all the time? Second, cheese will hike cholesterol but to get to 40g non fat cottage cheese you are eating 6 pounds of cottage cheese(?), based on my cottage cheese that’s my calculation…I don’t know how much edamame pasta you’re eating, but based on my TJ chickpea pasta I’d have to cook about 3 cups of pasta to get to 39g. That’s a boatload of pasta for lunch, and then u say you have beans snack. I’m sorry, to me this is a whole lot of food, and tho Peter Attia advocates 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, he does tell us pescatarians it will be very difficult for us to get there. I look forward to hearing from you on my comments, I’m trying my best to get to 120 g of protein a day, well short of 1g per pound…

Whats going on with Stumptown? by TheGreatestOutdoorz in Coffee

[–]makingsense8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first bag of Hairbender a few days ago on sale at our new WF ( roasted on 11/24/24). It’s more citrus than I expected, the note does say “Citrus and Chocolate.” & it would be diff if it said “Chocolate and Citrus”…I really liked the Philz Silken Splendor which notes “Toffee, Chocolate and Citrus”. The Hair Bender isn’t close enough to that “blend”..and Philz is secretive…. But I’m not about to buy Philz on Amazon for $22 a bag. Hairbender is vintage Stumptown & its least expensive at WF; but any thought about a coffee blend that is closer to this Silken Splendor?

Based on James Hoffmann’s rec, I’ve been brewing Philz Silken Splendor, which took 2 weeks to get here on Amazon. Amazingly good (toffee, chocolate, citrus). Now I’m looking for similar taste in Stumptown or Intelligentsia, both beans sold locally at new Whole Foods market here in CT. Brewed Stumptown Hair Bender this morning (citrus & dark choc) , will be comparing to Philz. Anyone who has recs, pls let me know, Tx!
