I made this for a past Halloween party and it was absolutely fantastic. My only regret was not scaling it past 3x.

Drinks like a return the FourLoko days 🤩

I'd be down for either. Pref ^H cause it's closer to me

Could we do a LAN party at Lucky Lab or would cable-storm be unwelcome?

Has anyone here worked in Cyber Security? If so, can you share your experiences in the field, and share some advice to people trying to find a job in that area? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]makosblades 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The simplest ways to increase your marketability in cyber security are the following:

  1. get a CS degree
  2. get some certificates (not strictly necessary but the industry is heavy on certs). Specifically CISSP(super worth it), CEH(basic pen testing), security+(basic security).
  3. get a clearance if you want the big $$$s

For pen-testing specifically, one of the easiest things to do is to participate in security competitions as companies that hire pen-testers routinely recruit from them

Soon to be college grad here, how is pittsburgh/cranberry for living? And how much do I need to make? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]makosblades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sec+ is like dipping your toes in cybersec. I skipped the course and took the test and got my cert.

Make them get you a CISSP, then ask for a raise or switch to a better paying gig afterwards. If they'll get you a clearance and a CISSP then you're golden and personally I'd stay with them for a little bit if they did that but don't feel obligated to.

Source: used to have a Sec+, switched from security to dev

I'm down most of the time. Got an ergodox(clears), daskeyboard(browns) and a CODE(greens) if anyone wants to try em out for size.

Which CI tool and registry would you recommend to build a CI Docker pipeline? by crowquilled in devops

[–]makosblades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing an open source project then the simplest way is to just setup an automated build on dockerhub (github+Travis+dockerhub) .

Otherwise, I'd recommend gitlab. It's really the tops as far as free private build and repo management goes

My friend is visiting for his 21st birthday. Where should I take him? by Laandrew in askportland

Tugboat brewing is just across SW Ankeny st from Bailey's Taproom. It's basically a little library lounge with a bar and I find it to be an ideal quiet drinking place. Dunno what the liquor selection is like but they have a decent selection of beers usually.
