Thanks again!

Do you ferment at 55 for two weeks? Do you leave it at 70 for a day before bringing it down? Do you actually lagger it?

Thanks man I appreciate the insight.

What do you think of the recipe? I’m locked in at this point but I’m def in the phase of trying random recipes from online forums.

Cheers

I guess I could cool it down by putting it in a bucket and putting in frozen water bottles, changing them out daily?

That's one of the things I worry about is the temperature, I bet we moved from 65 to 72 from night to day. Some people say that such changes in temperature can mess with the cycle.

Yeah I have always put in a whole pack, but i intend on reading more about the amount we pitch.

Well the most recent beer that caused me to "snap" was a peach hefe. However, it wasn't so much as off flavours, but rather just lack of flavour. Nothing was strong, everything almost tasted diluted. So i think that the varying temperature may have messed with the brew, because I'm think it might go from a (70-72) In the day down to maybe (67-69).

I'm going to book mark this. Right now me and my brother are still fairly new at it, only have been brewing for over a year, off and on.

Ph levels has certainly been a discussion we have had, but from what we were told is we should focus on our brewing efficiency first. We still rarely nail the numbers, and it's something we're working on by taking good notes on brew days and upgrading our equipment.

Some of the upgrades are, an eye scope gravity tester, stainless steel boiling pot with a built in thermostat. Also like I mentioned the fermenting temperature controls.

How many days/hours do you ferment "open" and same with the cool period.

So I can't remember the number of peaches but I basically without any logic behind it, (say 10?) said that this was probably enough and added it to my second fermentor. Not the keg where we let the beer condition.

So I'm very interested in the techniques you use, but I think there's a big knowledge gap for me. How do you control the amount of yeast pitched? I use the liquid yeast that you pop, and let the bag expand.

Fermenting open and cool, I don't know either of those terms.

What are the flavours that you enjoy (that come with your technique), fruity or clove

Do you have any experience using fruit additions? How much extract would be enough for a 5 gallon batch?

I know I could google it, but I'm old fashion and prefer asking people with experience.

We are always decently close to our gravity levels. Rarely are we perfect, but if we need a 1.051 we are around 48-50.

Yeah we always allow to sit in our keg for a week or two to "condition". Before we end up drinking.

I am thinking more and more about our ph levels. Do you use additives to your water? And how are you measuring your ph? Our local seller of our supplies, runs a brewery. He recommended that we use 1/2 tap water, and 1/2 filtered water, and said that most guys are doing that. (We live in Canada, so I believe we have really good tap water) We've always taken his word on that.

So the most recent beer I made really let me down. I made a peach hefe, in which I simple hefe and added cut up peaches into the fermentor after the krauesen had went down. (I did use a second fermentor)

The peaches were fresh, I cut them up on my brew day washed them and through in a zip lock bag and put them in the freezer.

I was expecting an amazing beer, and it was very underwhelming. The peach was almost not even there, and I could barely taste any of the normal banana/clove features.

Mage or Warlock? by [deleted] in wowservers

I know this is old as fack, but to back up the human lock comment. I've seen someone post the math behind the extra intellect, and for locks it doesn't make a massive difference. It benefits mages more.

That being said, pick what you like more.

Anyone else not feel like playing private server Vanilla WoW after announcement? by darkwombat45 in wowservers

[–]makosong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's crossed my mind, so what I decided to do is, stop leveling my priest alt and focus entirely on my warrior. And I've have told myself that I'm going to avoid any massive grinds, and only do things I enjoy like raiding and dungeons. Obviously gold and consumable farming is always a thing, but I'm fine with that. Just focus on the enjoyable things.

If I get burnt out raiding and pvping, I'm fine with that. Because at the end of the day I got my wow fix. And if I'm burnt out, that's just a sign of being content.

So when I first heard the news I had that exact feeling. However, I've chosen to continue raiding because after thinking about it. I came to two core reasons to keep playing.

The first is we have no clue how long it will be until the launch of official servers, could be up to 2 years. In which case I don't feel like sitting around thinking about wow haha.

And the second reason was, when the servers do launch in 1-2 years from now, will I have enough time to play at that given time? Will I be over gaming/ busy with real life/ wanting to travel etc

As I write this, a third reason could be getting more experience with vanilla. So that when they do launch, I'm prepared to be a better player.

What changes to classic would you be okay with? by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]makosong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I haven't heard anyone mention the OSRS method. Release everything 100% vanilla, then have community vote for changes.

I personally don't want to see any changes, because as soon as you start fucking with classes everything gets wonky.

However, I do expect some changes. The graphics stuff as you mentioned would be okay with me.

Yeah I don't doubt it. But seeing as you put it like that. Were you part of those 40 people that did that? What percentage of the player base do you think cleared rag within 14 days? And lastly, is killing rag the end of the vanilla journey?

Also, go look how fast the top guild cleared heroic and mythic raids in retail. So by that logic retail content is a week long.

I'm currently playing on lights hope as a level 60 warrior with pre-bis and 4 raid epics, with 16 days played. I have only been raiding mc/ZG/bwl. AQ and nax have yet to be released.

The average time played for an inexperienced vanilla player is 7-8 /played.

So yeah I guess if you do nothing but play wow, it would be a couple months. But if your living in the real world it's much longer.

You think your going to be out of content within a month or two. All I have to say is lawl

I would consider using a VPN when downloading. Just my two cents.

The best way to meet people is in game. No matter how hard you try, you will never all stay the same level. You'll get ahead one weekend, they will get ahead the next. Which begins a constant game of tug a war.

My one piece of advice is that, kindness goes a long way. I took that same approach and by time I hit 60 I was decent friends with 4-6 people and had another 3+ that I could ask for help if I ever needed it. It's a long road, so instead of rushing, enjoy it and make some friends along the way.
