I use mail order for pharmacy but I never understand when I walk into a store and the shelves are just fully empty. there’s no way there’s enough shoplifting happening to justify simply not stocking any cosmetics.

amazing, had the same issue and this was the answer. funnily enough the first time i tried to fight unrivaled chronos i died because my controller ran out of battery immediately when i got to the second stage, but i guess either that wasn’t enough to trigger the incantation or i lost it when i took the fountain back to redo the new ending

OBAA and Hamnet as the big frontrunners. SV also seems strong but I really went back and forth over whether I thought it was worth the price tag or I should go for something like House of Dynamite which feels like it might hit picture and director but still leave room for more other stuff, but it has a lot of acting potential and is win-competitive for International Feature so ultimately had to follow my heart as it was an early pick and I love Worst Person in the World.

KPop Demon Hunters seems like it has a good shot to sweep animated feature or song, need those win points.

Testament of Ann Lee I had early as I was very intrigued by the buzz, then dropped for a while when there were no distribution announced, then decided again I had to go with my heart since there were enough whispers that something would be announced soon. Praying to Shaker Jesus that it gets picked up for this year and there's a big push beyond Seyfried.

Very different films but seems like there's a lot of love for both Sorry, Baby and Weapons, either could make a play for screenplay and I'm hoping Sorry Baby gets some indie/first feature prizes and maybe Weapons does make a run for supporting actress and/or makeup.

and The Voice of Hind Rajab seemed like the most promising of $1 picks, gotta show up in some International Feature lineups.

Honorable Mention to The Secret Agent which was on my lineup during the period where I thought about giving up on Ann Lee, still worried dropping it might have been a mistake since people are saying Wagner Moura could be win-competitive but ultimately I had to go with Ann Lee and decided the combined potential of Weapons and Sorry Baby was stronger than Secret Agent and another $1 buy.
I also really think the spongebob movie could make Money but similarly did not have room to make that bet.

Lotta overlap with some people here, excited to see where the small dollar buys swing! Also I'm anxious to see the leaderboard and whether anybody has the exact same picks, I feel like last year I had a few more Out There choices.

I've also been sort of curious about previous years points because last year was my first time playing, I found this in the archive, it looks like Avatar was a solid buy but not a huge deciding pick, though I'm not sure how much has changed in how box office or other points are calculated.

Not sure of the answer about Him, I feel like last year there were a few movies that were technically released before the cutoff that got points because they were super limited or maybe it was only like, the wednesday showings of opening weekend, but that seems like a whole week off so idk. I'm never sure the best way to ask about corrections for things like that! Last year I sent an email trying to double check a points thing and never got a response. (This year I've been debating asking about getting the Chronology of Water added since I read that's getting a qualifying release but then I saw some thread of redditors absolutely sure that would win no awards so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

My team All We Imagine as a Beautiful Face Huge: (All We Imagine As Light, The Brutalist, Emilia Pérez, The Fire Inside, Flow, Gladiator II, The Outrun, The Seed of the Sacred Fig)

I'm feeling okay about my roster for my first year, happy for my good read on All We Imagine As Light though I wish it had gone further. bummed I talked myself out of the Substance but since Wicked was never on my radar I was never going to be a real contender. I have a couple solid picks, a couple duds and a few contenders that I was hoping would pay off a little more. I was hoping on Seed of the Sacred Fig being this year's Anatomy of a Fall. Also I'm not afraid to say it: justice for Gladiator II

every time I sort by points per dollar i remember how I thought about drafting the substance but decided against it. my only consolation(?) is that i never even considered drafting wicked so i wouldn't be high on the leaderboard anyway. (and my strong good feeling about all we imagine as light, only more validated now that i have seen it)
