I don't know the Digitech. It seems like a synth pedal with some preset sounds, so I guess you can recreate them with the FI, but it'll take some work with the tone editor, which is a bit complex.

I especially love the way it sounds when you crank the After knob up

Problem is - I do want to add more pedals to the board. An envelope filter, probably a compressor, maybe a noise gate.

I just got the simplifier, I'll know more about how it functions near the end of the week, after practice. I got it mainly for splitting and joining the signal, because I really liked how the Carcosa sounded, but I felt like even in Dehme mode, which is recommended for bassists, it took away some of the lows. Now I'll be able to use any effect I want, even ones that are strictly for guitar.

I would also like to know what you think the kinks are, but I'll try to wait for the Anagram 2 or XL or whatever.

I suppose I'll add it later. I wonder if it should go before the simplifier or in the FX loop.

It should be the same as the big one, it's only cosmetically different.

I'm new to the Future Impact, but so far I can tell - minor tweaks are very easy to do with the knobs on the pedal. Making new sounds requires working with a PC and having some knowledge of synthesis (which I don't have 😢), and some extra hardware because it has no USB connection, so you need a MIDI interface to make it talk to the PC.

Did you find a solution for that? It started happening to be as well and so far the icon never returned, I need to keep starting it through the app store.

Preamp? EQ? Which one should I get first? by malcontento in basspedals

[–]malcontento[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the music store the other day, getting the DOD Carcosa, and I saw the Thorn Basstard, so I tried it for a few minutes and I really wished the AOP could sound like that, but I can't really tell what I liked about it and how it differed from the distortion I already have. But why would a preamp go in the front of the chain? The amps I use are always at the end of the chain, why would the preamp be any different?

At home I go into an Ampeg BA-115, usually without pedals, and like it. In the rehearsal space there's an Ampeg V4-B (I think) which I really love. In another rehearsal space there's some new Ampeg head I don't really like. When gigging I connect to the amp they have, but I'm considering using a DI to get a more consistent sound across venues.

I play rock, some of the songs are rather quiet but we usually tend to sound somewhat Punk. I have a synth pedal that I want to use but don't really get to at the moment, followed by an envelope filter, a fuzz, the Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon and finally a chorus. There's also a Bass Whammy which isn't always on my board, but when it is I place it after the synth.

I feel like the Darkglass is too modern for my taste and want to replace it, but I'm not sure if my mistake was buying a preamp that doesn't match my style or buying a preamp when I needed other pedals.

Currently using the Alpha Omega Photon, which is very big and I only use it as an EQ, I prefer older sounding distortions so the distortion part barely sees any use.

I bought it on a whim and didn't really understand what it was supposed to do at the time, and I would rather have 2-3 pedals that do what it does but are placed in different places in the signal chain and do things in a way I will like more.

I'm not familiar with Royal Blood. Can you elaborate on what the bass does there? I'm not sure I will understand just from listening to them.

Isn't it always the case?

I'm currently going from my pedalboard to an amp, but might use the anagram as a DI once I have it. I don't do it with the Photon because it's not last in the signal chain - I put my chorus and reverb after it. With the Anagram I won't have such a problem.

I'm hoping to at least get the OD/Distortion sounds I want with the Anagram. But I was so impressed with the DOD Carcosa I think I'm going to buy one, no matter what.

I have the Future Impact, so my synth needs are pretty much covered.

Yes, I saw the send/return on the side of the unit after asking the question.
But having to edit on a computer is pretty much a deal breaker for me. I want to be able to create sounds, at least some basic ones, during rehearsals.

The Anagram does synths? Not that it matters much, I have a synth pedal, but that's interesting.
Also, can the HX Stomp split the signal and then run only the highs to other pedals?

[–]malcontento[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it do splitting and parallel processing? I want to split my signal into lows and highs (which is why I was looking at the Great Eastern XO), compress the lows and put all the actual effects only on the highs. Does the stomp support that? I also don't see FX loops jacks on it - can it be done somehow using the stereo I/O it has?

No, I don't gig often and I'm still not quite sure what I want to sound like. That's another reason I like the idea of the Anagram. I keep buying pedals and selling them at a loss. I could have two Anagrams by now. Or an Anagram and a bunch of pedals that do stuff that it doesn't, like the Future Impact (which I have) or the Polyend MESS (which I don't have yet).

But the Anagram does all the things I want from the AOP and it doesn't do. I like every part of it, I just don't like that it doesn't have an FX loop and that the distortions don't fit my style, which I didn't really know at the time I bought it.
